Sun Nov 21 201010:27Bartlett likely to be traded?
Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times expects Jason Bartlett to be traded before spring training.
The Rays could be looking to deal a few of their players this offseason, and Bartlett might be the most likely to be bartered. Reid Brignac is ready to take over at shortstop and is arguably already a better option than Bartlett, who predictably fell back to earth after his big 2009 season. The Orioles, Cardinals and Giants are three teams that could be interested.

Thu Nov 18 201015:09O's have talked with Rays about Bartlett
According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have discussed a trade that would send David Hernandez to the Rays for Jason Bartlett.
The O's haven't ruled out retaining Cesar Izturis, but are open to an upgrade, even talking to the Twins about J.J. hardy. In truth, it's hard to believe that Bartlett is exactly what they should be looking for. The 31-year-old batted just .254/.324/.350 this past season, rates below average defensively at shortstop and is one year away from free agency. Meanwhile, Hernandez could slot in as an interesting piece in what will be a revamped bullpen for the Rays next season.

Tue Nov 16 201016:09Rays listening to offers on Bartlett
According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, the Rays are "listening" to offers for Jason Bartlett.
Makes sense. Bartlett made $4 million this past season and is arbitration-eligible again this winter. He could probably fetch some interest in a weak market for free agent infielders. The Rays have Reid Brignac as an in-house replacement should they find Bartlett a new home.

Sat Oct 9 201014:47Bartlett dropped to ninth in Game 3 lineup
Jason Bartlett has been dropped to ninth in the lineup for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Rangers.
Bartlett was the leadoff hitter for first two games and went 2-6 but with Jaso getting the start against the righty Matt Garza, Bartlett had to drop. After the cleanup hitter Longoria the Rays will have three straight lefties of Joyce, Johnson, and Pena. Upton and Bartlett the 1-2 hitters in the first two games round up the bottom of the lineup.

Wed Oct 6 201010:21Bartlett batting leadoff in Game 1 of ALDS
Jason Bartlett will bat leadoff for Game 1 of the ALDS against the Rangers on Wednesday afternoon.
It's a minor surprise, as Bartlett hasn't batted leadoff since June 17. Carlos Pena will bat No. 5 while Kelly Shoppach starts behind the plate and bats eighth against the southpaw Cliff Lee.

Thu Aug 5 201015:00Rays' Bartlett delivers slam off bench
Jason Bartlett delivered a pinch-hit grand slam in a losing cause Thursday against the Twins.
The slam tied the game at 6 in the eighth, but it went for naught when the Twins came back with two in the top of the ninth. It was Bartlett's first career slam in 50 at-bats with the bases loaded. He was out of the starting lineup today because of a recent 3-for-21 slump. He hadn't had an extra-base hit since July 20.
Wed Jun 30 201023:11Bartlett hits second homer of the year
Jason Bartlett hit a three-run homer off Ramon Ramirez to lead the Rays past the Red Sox on Wednesday night.
It was pretty obvious that last year's .320, 14 homer, 66 RBI, campaign was an aberration. Bartlett is proving the skeptics right. He is hitting .224 with two homers and 29 RBI in 60 games this year.
Wed Jun 16 201008:51Rays activate Bartlett from DL
Rays activated SS Jason Bartlett from the 15-day disabled list.
Bartlett is expected to be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Braves. Because Triple-A Durham's game was rained out on Tuesday night, Bartlett only managed to play in one minor league rehab game, but the Rays were apparently comfortable enough with his progress. Bartlett has been sidelined since May 30 with a right hamstring strain.
Tue Jun 15 201023:27Jason Bartlett to return from DL on Wed
Jason Bartlett (hamstring) is expected to return from the disabled list on Wednesday.
Bartlett was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Durham on Monday night. The Bulls were rained out on Tuesday, but it's not known whether that will affect his timetable for a return. Still, Sean Rodriguez's 15-game hitting streak isn't going to make things easy for Rays manager Joe Maddon.

Thu Jun 3 201020:44Rays place SS Jason Bartlett on disabled list
Rays placed SS Jason Bartlett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 30, with a right hamstring strain.
The strain was called "mild" when Bartlett suffered the injury in a game last week, so hopefully he'll be ready to return in two weeks. He is batting .231/.327/.330 with a homer and 22 RBI through 48 games this season and will be replaced at shortstop by Reid Brignac.
Wed Jun 2 201018:36Bartlett (hamstring) DL decision coming soon
Jason Bartlett (hamstring) has shown improvement but he still might be headed to the disabled list, according to manager Joe Maddon.
He took ground balls at shortstop on Wednesday afternoon. "It's the lateral (movement) on the ground balls, bending over to pick them up. So, there has been improvement. We're definitely going to have to do something one way or the other by the time we get to Texas," Maddon said. Reid Brignac will start at shortstop again on Wednesday.

Wed Jun 2 201015:54Bartlett (hamstring) takes grounders on Wed
Jason Bartlett (hamstring) took groundballs at shortstop on Wednesday afternoon.
Bartlett was being observed by team trainer Ron Porterfield and infield coach Tom Foley. He still may end up on the disabled list, but it's a positive sign nonetheless. Reid Brignac will start at shortstop again on Wednesday.

Sat May 29 201020:31Bartlett exits with apparent hammy injury
Jason Bartlett left Saturday's game with an apparent hamstring injury.
The shortstop pulled up lame while going for a ball up the middle in the fourth inning. Reid Brignac slid over to short and Sean Rodriguez came on to play second base. It's not clear if Bartlett's injury is serious.

Fri May 28 201017:25Bartlett dropped to ninth in Rays order
Jason Bartlett has been dropped to ninth in Friday's lineup, with Ben Zobrist replacing him as the leadoff man against the White Sox.
Bartlett has walked five times in his last three games, but he's gone 0-for-8 in that span and he's currently hitting .235/.328/.335 for the season. Dropping him to ninth probably should have been done weeks ago. With Zobrist moving up, John Jaso is batting third tonight.

Mon May 17 201023:07Bartlett's bunt pushes Rays past Tribe
Jason Bartlett executed a safety squeeze in the 11th inning to push the Rays to a 4-3 walkoff win over the Indians on Monday night.
Perfectly done. Bartlett pushed the ball to the left side of the mound forcing Jamey Wright to make an errant glove flip to home plate. Russell Branyan probably had a better chance at a play, but Bartlett's bunt was so perfect that it wouldn't have mattered. It marks the club's third straight comeback victory.
