Thu May 26 201110:26Jenks (biceps) begins rehab stint Friday
Bobby Jenks (biceps) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Pawtucket.
It's not yet known how many appearances he'll make in the minors, though it probably won't take very long. Jenks, who signed a two-year, $10 million contract over the winter, posted a 9.35 ERA and 10/9 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings before going on the disabled list with a right biceps strain earlier this month.

Mon May 23 201119:29Jenks (biceps) throws bullpen session
Bobby Jenks (biceps) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session Monday.
"The way it went today, as far as health-wise, we're right on schedule to be back this week, hopefully in Detroit," said Jenks. "Once I'm right, I'll be able to get back out there. It's just a matter of getting my feet back under me. Another bullpen or two, it will take care of that right away. It's been way too long. I need to get back out there. I've been going crazy in the dugout." Jenks is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Wednesday before being reevaluated. He doesn't believe that he will need a minor league rehab assignment.

Mon May 23 201109:21Jenks (biceps) to throw bullpener Monday
Bobby Jenks (biceps) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday afternoon.
Jenks made it through a light game of catch Sunday without feeling any discomfort in his right arm. The Red Sox will likely ask the setup man to head out on a short minor league rehab assignment, making an early-June return more likely than late May.

Bobby Jenks (biceps) started a throwing program Tuesday and will continue it for at least 10 days before going out on a rehab assignment.
Jenks made throws from 60 feet Tuesday and will increase that distance Wednesday. Assuming all goes well, Jenks could be back at the end of the month, or his absence might be stretched into early June.

Thu May 5 201112:00Red Sox place RHP Jenks on 15-day DL
Red Sox placed RHP Bobby Jenks on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 2, with a right biceps strain.
Jenks was unavailable for Wednesday's game against the Angels and is expected to be examined by team doctors on Thursday. The 30-year-old right-hander has a 9.35 ERA and 10/9 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings this season, so it's clear something just isn't right here.

Thu May 5 201108:30Jenks unavailable with cramping in arm
Bobby Jenks was unavailable for Wednesday's game against the Angels after his arm "cramped up."
"He was actually coming in the game and we got a call his arm cramped up, so that kind of put a wrench into things, also," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. It's unclear whether Jenks will require an extended absence.

Sun May 1 201118:38Jenks believes mechanical flaw to blame
Bobby Jenks believes he's spotted a mechanical flaw that's led to his recent struggles.
Jenks blew a lead in Friday's loss and also in Sunday's win. On Sunday, he faced five men and retired one, allowing a hit and three walks. Jenks believes he has been coming more toward the dugout than to the mound during his delivery. "If there is a good note, I was looking at video, and I am mechanically off. With this, hopefully it's a quick fix," he said. "Everything's there. We're talking a few inches here, and obviously that can make a big difference out on the field. I've always been a guy known for throwing strikes. My walks have always been very low. This is very uncharacteristic. We found the reason why." If the big right-hander is right, he should return to being one of the American League's premier setup men.

Mon Feb 14 201108:50Red Sox to bring Jenks along slowly
Red Sox manager Terry Francona said he plans to bring Bobby Jenks along slowly during the early part of spring training.
"That's just the way he's always done it," said Francona. "I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see him in a game the first week. He doesn't need to be. He's always been an extremely slow spring-training pitcher. We were laughing in (a staff meeting) that we'll probably have to remind ourselves a time or two. There's no reason to rush him into games." No big deal. Jenks is a relief pitcher, so he won't need many appearances to get ready for the new season.

Wed Dec 22 201010:20Jenks could earn more with games finished
According to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com, Bobby Jenks could earn up to an additional $1 million per season with the Red Sox based on games finished.
Jenks is guaranteed $12 million over the next two years, but he could make $200,000 for reaching benchmarks of 30, 40, 50, 55 and 60 games finished. Takashi Saito had 30 games finished for the Red Sox in 2009, so it's possible he could reach the low-end of the incentives, even as a set-up man, but he would have to replace Jonathan Papelbon as the team's closer to have any shot at reaching $1 million.

Tue Dec 21 201015:34Red Sox officially sign Bobby Jenks
Red Sox signed RHP Bobby Jenks to a two-year, $12 million contract.
The rotund Jenks has passed a physical, making the deal official. Jenks is coming off a down year with the White Sox, posting a 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 10.4 K/9 rate, but this deal looks like a bargain compared to the others handed out to relievers this offseason. His fantasy value takes an obvious hit with the move to Beantown, as it would take a Jonathan Papelbon trade or injury for him to see any save chances, and even then they'd likely go to Daniel Bard.
Thu Dec 16 201014:42Report: Jenks and Red Sox reach $12M deal
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Red Sox have signed Bobby Jenks to a two-year, $12 million deal.
Could this be the first domino to fall? The Sox would love to move Jonathan Papelbon's contract, and they now have both Daniel Bard and Jenks on board to handle late innings duties. The 29-year-old Jenks is likely to fill a setup role with the Red Sox no matter who is moved. He posted a 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 10.4 K/9 rate in 2010 with the White Sox.

Thu Dec 16 201011:28Report: Jenks looking for 'closer money'
According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Bobby Jenks is looking for "closer money."
Heyman speculates that Jenks will command a salary of $8 million or more, though that isn't confirmed. If true, that would likely leave the Yankees out of the mix, who have considered signing him for a set-up role. The Rays also reportedly have strong interest in the recently non-tendered right-hander, but it's unlikely they'll be willing to pay him that much to close.

Wed Dec 15 201022:03Rays not near deal with reliever Bobby Jenks
Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times heard from a source late Wednesday night that the Rays are "not" near a deal with Bobby Jenks.
At least, they're not going to sign him before Wednesday is through. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports are both reporting that the Rays have serious interest. The Yankees, according to Rosenthal, are also in the running. Jenks posted a 4.44 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 55 appearances for the White Sox in 2010, collecting 27 saves in 31 chances.

Wed Dec 15 201021:11Report: Jenks, Rays near agreement on deal
Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports reports that the Rays are nearing an agreement with free agent reliever Bobby Jenks.
A deal may be reached as early as Wednesday night. Jenks was non-tendered by the White Sox earlier this month after posting a pedestrian 4.44 ERA over 55 appearances in 2010 as the Sox's primary ninth-inning man. He still has pretty good stuff and will probably do fine in Tampa Bay. As long as the money isn't outrageous, it's not a bad signing for the reliever-needy Rays. He may even be asked to close down in Florida.

Sat Dec 4 201009:13Orioles interested in Bobby Jenks
The Orioles contacted Bobby Jenks' agent shortly after the right-hander was non-tendered by the White Sox, according to the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec.
The Orioles are reportedly still close to re-signing Koji Uehara and would likely keep him in the closer role, so they might be looking at Jenks as more of a setup man. Though Jenks fell out of favor in Chicago and is no longer and elite reliever, he's still very capable. Someone will surely be willing to give him a ninth inning job.

Thu Dec 2 201015:19White Sox non-tender closer Bobby Jenks
White Sox non-tendered RHP Bobby Jenks.
It's official. Jenks earned $7.5 million this past season while posting a 4.44 ERA over 55 appearances. It would have been very difficult to justify giving him $9 million through the arbitration process this winter, so the White Sox really had no choice but to cut him loose. While Jenks is no longer an elite closer, he should have no trouble finding offers in free agency.
Thu Dec 2 201008:23Report: ChiSox to non-tender Bobby Jenks
According to Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com, the White Sox are prepared to non-tender Bobby Jenks on Thursday.
Not much of a surprise, considering that Jenks made $7.5 million this past season and would earn somewhere around $9 million if he went through the arbitration process again this winter. Cutting ties with Jenks means that Matt Thornton is the most likely internal option to inherit the closer role in Chicago.
