Sat Feb 18 201201:31Shannon Brown scores 15 off Suns bench
Shannon Brown hit 6-of-11 shots and two 3-pointers for a season-high 15 points in Friday's loss against his former team, the Lakers.
He had only played in one of his last seven games coming in, and the fact they were playing the Lakers probably had a lot to do with tonight's explosion. Jared Dudley has been in a bit of a funk over his last four games and scored eight points tonight, but should remain the starting shooting guard and a quality fantasy option going forward.

Tue Feb 14 201208:08Shannon Brown not happy with his minutes
Shannon Brown is not happy with his current playing time.
"It's very frustrating sitting on the bench," he said. "I've put my time in. I've earned my stripes. I've been through the fire." Brown has picked up a DNP-Coach's Decision in five straight games, but he's averaging 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.9 steals on 39.4 percent shooting this year. He's not an option in standard sized leagues at this time, and this probably isn't what Brown was expecting when he signed a one-year, $3 million deal during the offseason.

Tue Jan 24 201204:52Brown scores 14 points in 25 minutes
Shannon Brown scored 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with one rebound, two assists, and a steal in 25 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Brown doesn't do much besides score and hit threes, and with Brown still struggling with his consistency we'd like to see production at least one more time before getting behind him in standard leagues.

Sat Jan 21 201202:12Brown scores seven points off the bench
Shannon Brown scored seven points on 3-of-8 shooting with one rebound and one assist in 17 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Brown played well on Wednesday but he's really suffering from his lack of versatility on the court. It doesn't help that he's taking plays off, negating the physical advantages he has over some of his teammates. He's waiver wire fodder until he proves to be consistent.

Sat Jan 14 201202:43Shannon Brown scores 13 in start for Hill
Shannon Brown started for injured Grant Hill (knee/quad) on Friday, scoring 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 35 minutes.
Brown has not shown us anything to get overly excited about during his recent opportunities with guys out. Give him a look for spot-action if Steve Nash and Hill remain out, but beyond that we're not biting.

Fri Jan 13 201202:17Brown starts second half with similar results
Shannon Brown started the second half of Thursday's game due to Grant Hill's knee/quad injury, scoring 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes.
In other words, not a lot has changed for Brown. Until he gives owners a reason to believe he can do something with extra minutes, it's probably best not to give him credit for minutes we don't know he'll get.

Thu Jan 12 201222:30Shannon Brown starts second half for Hill
Shannon Brown started the second half of Thursday's game in place of Grant Hill, who entered the game with concerns about his minutes.
This says more about Hill than it does Brown, though if the trend continues it could help expand the value of the Suns shooting guard position in general. More minutes for Brown at SF means more minutes for Jared Dudley and Michael Redd at SG. Redd is expected to take some minutes from Hill, too. Brown is not worth an add as of right now.

Sat Dec 31 201102:34Brown scores 11 points in Suns win on Fri
Shannon Brown scored 11 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 4-of-9 shots from the field (including a three) with four rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 16 minutes.
Brown has not played well, but tonight he looked like the guy the Suns thought they were getting. The signing of Michael Redd shouldn't impact the evaluation of guys like Brown or Jared Dudley until Redd shows he can get on the court, either. Just keep an eye on Brown for now, as he might look a lot better once the Suns are in shape.

Tue Dec 27 201102:35Shannon Brown sputters in his debut for PHO
Shannon Brown sputtered in the Suns' 85-84 loss to the Hornets on Monday, scoring two points on 1-of-8 shooting with one rebound, one assist, and one steal in 20 minutes.
Brown has the foot speed and athleticism that Jared Dudley lacks, but he hasn't been able to apply any real pressure on Dudley for the starting job. If Brown continues to struggle, we'll be asking if he can crack the 20-minute mark rather than talking about a position battle. It's early though, so just keep an eye on Brown.

Sun Dec 11 201104:50Shannon Brown signed to one-year deal in PHO
Shannon Brown signed a one-year deal with the Suns on Saturday.
Jared Dudley is projected to be the starting shooting guard as of now, but we wouldn't be surprised if Brown applies serious pressure. Grant Hill has generally guarded opposing teams' shooting guards at a high level, but expecting him to keep up with the game's quicker foes at his age in a condensed season is questionable. Dudley's foot-speed is even worse, and next to Steve Nash, Brown's defense could be necessary. If Brown can nab 30+ minutes, he'll be worth a look at the end of drafts.

Thu Dec 8 201115:00Shannon Brown to sign one-year deal w/ Suns
Shannon Brown will sign a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Suns, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Brown should play his natural SG position in Phoenix, where he can fill the void left by the likely departure of Vince Carter. Jared Dudley is likely to start at SG but his value takes a bit of a hit with Brown's arrival. Unless he somehow lands a starting gig, Brown will be too inconsistent for fantasy value.

Thu Dec 8 201111:32Shannon Brown no longer considering Heat
Shannon Brown is no longer considering signing with the Heat.
The signing of Shane Battier moves Brown out of the picture for the Heat. Brown has both youth and athleticism on his side, so he should have no trouble landing at least a two-year deal from a team looking to upgrade scoring in the second unit.

Wed Dec 7 201102:38The Browns are talking to South Beach
The agent for Shannon Brown and Kwame Brown has had in-depth discussions about his clients with the Heat.
We will continue to offer the 'grain of salt' disclaimer before each of these rumors, but go ahead and add this to your mental file for possible free agent destinations for the Browns. Kwame has also received interest from the Bobcats, Celtics, Raptors, Sixers, and Kings, according to his agent.

In addition to New Orleans looking at his client Nick Young, Mark Bartelstein says that the Hornets and GM Dell Demps have also inquired about free agent swing man Shannon Brown.
With only five players under contract for the upcoming season, expect New Orleans to be linked to many free agents in the next few days. Brown is an unrestricted free agent, though the Lakers have retained his rights with a qualifying offer, meaning they could match any offer Brown receives through free agency.

Fri Dec 2 201120:04Shannon Brown not expected to sign with LAL
General manager Mitch Kupchak said Friday that he doesn't expect Shannon Brown to re-sign with the team.
In other words, Kupchak isn't willing to pay what Brown will likely get on the open market. The Lakers have their hands somewhat tied with the new CBA, and will be looking at several cheaper options early in the free agency period. Delonte West, Josh McRoberts, Arron Afflalo, and even Baron Davis' name has popped up.

Thu Dec 1 201115:30Boston Celtics have interest in Shannon Brown
The Boston Celtics have expressed "some interest" in Shannon Brown.
Brown has spent the last three seasons with the Lakers. Boston needs to find some scoring in the second unit and needs to get younger in the process, so adding Brown does make some sense. The Lakers have also already reached out to Brown as well.

Wed Nov 30 201116:04Lakers reach out to FA Shannon Brown
The Lakers have already reached out to free agent guard Shannon Brown.
Brown opted out of his deal to become an unrestricted free agent, but the Lakers are clearly showing interest in bringing him back as Kobe Bryant's backup. Brown averaged 8.7 points in 19 minutes per game last year.

Thu Jun 30 201121:43Lakers' G Shannon Brown opts out
Lakers guard Shannon Brown has opted out of his contract with the Lakers.
That makes him an unrestricted free agent, meaning he can negotiate a deal with any NBA team once the lockout is over.

Sun May 15 201100:51Shannon Brown tweets about Gasol's woman
Shannon Brown posted a tweet on Saturday stating that he did not sleep with Pau Gasol's woman.
"Ok let me put a end to this right now," Brown wrote. "I DID NOT SLEEP WITH @paugasol woman!!! First and last time addressing it!" This came out of nowhere and is a further sign of the inner turmoil within the Lakers' locker room. Big changes are probably coming to Los Angeles, but it's the Clippers who look like the more stable organization right now, which just feels weird to put in print.

Mon Apr 11 201110:14Jackson baffled by Brown's disappearing act
Lakers coach Phil Jackson is baffled by reserve Shannon Brown's recent ineffectiveness in the Lakers rotation.
Brown has shot under 30% in the past month including 2-of-13 from downtown. Jackson speculated that teams could be challenging him on the perimeter more and rushing his shot but ultimately it's a mystery. "Shannon has not been playing real well," Jackson said. "I don't know why."
