Wed Sep 15 202121:53Jordan Romano Closes Out 18th Game
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday to close out the team's 6-3 win over the Rays. He recorded a groundout, strikeout, and a pop out in the quick 11-pitch frame for his 18th save in 19 opportunities this season. The right-hander has been sharp nearly all season as he sits with a 2.41 ERA, and 1.05 WHIP with 73 K in 56 IP in his second year as the Jays closer. The only disappointing part of Romano's fantasy output is his relatively low save total, but he's offset that with a 7-1 record to give managers help elsewhere.

Wed Aug 25 202122:23Jordan Romano Collects 13th Save
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano shut the door on the White Sox Wednesday to secure the save in the club's 3-1 victory. He worked around a leadoff single by getting Andrew Vaughn to ground into a twin killing before Cesar Hernandez hit a lazy fly to center to end the ball game. Romano blew his first save chance of the season back on April 8, but since then he's a perfect 13-for-13 in his sporadic opportunities this season. Although the right-hander's save total isn't the highest, he's keeping plenty of fantasy value with a 2.33 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 62 K in 46 1/3 IP on the campaign.

Mon Aug 23 202122:54Jordan Romano Nails Down 12th Save
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano pitched a perfect ninth inning on Monday to nail down his 12th save of the season in the club's 2-1 win over the White Sox. The right-hander got a groundout and two strikeouts in his efficient 12-pitch frame to lower his ERA to 2.38 and his WHIP to 1.19 through 45 1/3 IP on the year. He's also struck out well over a batter per inning with 62 K, his only issue is that he's received just 13 save opportunities despite acting as the team's clear closing option. Romano is the product of poor circumstance and shouldn't be overlooked by fantasy managers looking for a reliever down the stretch run.

Sat Aug 21 202121:15Jordan Romano Strikes Out The Side For 11th Save
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano shut down the Tigers in the ninth inning on Saturday, securing his 11th save of the campaign in the 3-0 win. He worked around a leadoff single by striking out the next three batters he faced, throwing 13 of his 16 pitches for strikes in the dominant showing. The right-hander has now thrown six-straight scoreless frames to lower his ERA to 2.44 and his WHIP to 1.22 with 60 K through 44 1/3 IP on the season. Romano has just one blown save on the year, but save chances have been sporadic since the arms in front of him haven't exactly paved the way to many opportunities in close ball games. Still, his arm is worth rostering in deep leagues for his ratios and strikeouts.

Sun Aug 8 202117:25Jordan Romano Closes The Door On Red Sox
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano pitched a perfect ninth inning on Sunday, protecting the club's 9-8 win over the Red Sox. The right-hander struck out a pair in the 17-pitch frame to lock down his 10th save while lowering his ERA to 2.68 on the year. Romano has had a few hiccups in recent weeks, but manager Charlie Montoyo has stuck with his man for the majority of saves despite the recent additions to the bullpen. The job is well-deserved since he has proven to be the best relief arm on the team, but the team's lack of save opportunities limits his overall value.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Sat Jul 31 202100:12Jordan Romano Gets Ninth Save
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano recorded his ninth save of the season on Friday as his club surpassed the Royals 6-4. The right-hander did allow a run after giving up a leadoff single which was followed by a steal, wild pitch, and a groundout to cash in the runner in the 17-pitch frame. What's notable is that newly acquired Brad Hand pitched the eighth inning in this one which may have tipped manager Charlie Montoyo's hand at who his preferred closer might be moving forward. He has known to play matchups before, however, so it's no lock that Romano has the ninth inning job all to himself. His 2.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 44 K in 36 1/3 IP does keep him worth rostering in deeper formats despite a true defined role.

Thu Jul 29 202102:14Late-scratch Judge hits tiebreaking single for Yanks in 10th
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Aaron Judge went from being a late scratch to hitting a tiebreaking single in a two-run 10th inning to help the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the second straight day, 3-1 on Wednesday night. Judge was taken out of the lineup about 30 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. Although no announcement was made about why, the All-Star right fielder struck out in the fifth pinch-hitting for Estevan Florial. Judge returned to the team Tuesday after going on the COVID-19 injured list July 16. New York also had a big night off the field. The Yankees reached a deal to get All-Star slugger Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers, a person familiar with the trade told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move had not yet been announced and was subject to approval of medical records of the players involved. Greg Allen was hit by a pitch from Pete Fairbanks (3-4) leading off the 10th, putting runners on first and second. Judge... [More]
