Wed Mar 20 201318:02Tommy Hanson says right triceps feels 'fine'
Tommy Hanson told reporters after exiting his Wednesday Cactus League start that he feels "fine."
Hanson was pulled from the game after three innings because of tightness in his right triceps muscle. But he claims that early exit was totally precautionary. "They're just taking the cautious route," the 26-year-old right-hander told reporters. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Wed Mar 20 201317:30Hanson diagnosed with right triceps tightness
Tommy Hanson has been diagnosed with right triceps tightness.
That's the official word from the Angels. Hanson made an early exit from his Cactus League start on Wednesday afternoon against the Indians and is obviously in danger now of opening the 2013 regular season on the disabled list. The 26-year-old right-hander has dealt with both back and shoulder injuries over the past two summers. He was a risky bet in fantasy leagues even before this.

Wed Mar 20 201317:14Tommy Hanson exits game with apparent injury
Tommy Hanson left his Cactus League start Wednesday in the fourth inning due to an apparent injury.
Hanson appeared to be grabbing at his right shoulder when Angels manager Mike Scioscia approached the mound with a trainer. It's obviously not a good sign. Hanson allowed two earned runs in three innings against the Indians before making his premature departure. He has an ugly 8.25 ERA in 12 total frames this spring.

Fri Mar 15 201319:38Tommy Hanson shelled again by Mariners
Tommy Hanson's miserable spring training continued on Friday, where he was shelled by the Mariners for three runs on a pair of hits over four innings.
Hanson also walked one and struck out one on the afternoon. All of the damage stemmed from his inability to keep the ball in the yard, as Julio Morban blasted a two-run homer in the second inning, and Justin Smoak added on a solo shot in the fourth. Hanson has now allowed four homers in just nine spring innings, and owns an even 9.00 ERA through his first three starts.

Sun Mar 10 201322:04Hanson charged with five runs in loss
Tommy Hanson was charged with five earned runs on seven hits over three innings in Sunday's loss to the Royals.
Hanson claims to be healthy this spring, but he hasn't showed it. The right-hander has a 10.80 ERA in four Cactus League starts. We're taking a wait-and-see approach with Hanson after last year's velocity and overall production issues.

Tue Mar 5 201318:55Tommy Hanson goes two frames
Tommy Hanson allowed one run over two innings in Tuesday's win over the Reds.
The righty permitted three hits and didn't record a walk or strikeout in his first spring outing. Hanson contends that he's 100 percent healthy and much stronger than he was last year, but fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach after last year's velocity and overall production issues.

Fri Mar 1 201311:31Tommy Hanson says he's 100 percent
Tommy Hanson told ESPN's Jim Bowden that he's not only 100 percent healthy but is much stronger than he was last year due to a new offseason conditioning program.
Hanson's velocity and results took a downturn in 2012 as he dealt with shoulder issues, but it sounds like he's convinced his problems are behind him. But, while it's encouraging that he's feeling well, we'd like to see his velocity returning in game action.

Fri Jan 18 201312:44Tommy Hanson inks $3.725M deal with Halos
Angels avoided arbitration with RHP Tommy Hanson by agreeing to a one-year, $3.725 million contract.
Hanson was in his first year of arbitration eligibility. The right-hander's velocity and results took a downturn in 2012 as he dealt with shoulder issues, posting a 4.48 ERA over 31 starts. He'll hope to bounce back for the Angels in 2013.

Fri Nov 30 201214:20Angels acquire Hanson from Braves for Walden
Angels acquired RHP Tommy Hanson from the Braves in exchange for RHP Jordan Walden.
The trade is now official. Hanson looked like a potential top-of-the-rotation starter not long ago, but he's dealt with shoulder issues over the last year and has seen his velocity decline steadily. The right-hander posted a 4.48 ERA and 1.45 WHIP this past season for the Braves. The Angels are still in the market for another starter, with Zack Greinke obviously at the top of that list.

Fri Nov 30 201212:50Angels acquire Hanson from Braves for Walden
Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Angels have acquired Tommy Hanson from the Braves in exchange for Jordan Walden.
Hanson's stock has dropped big time over the last year as shoulder problems cropped up and his velocity declined, which is why the Braves were only able to get a reliever for him. He's also arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. That said, if he can rediscover some lost pep on his fastball, he could be a nice mid-rotation starter for the Angels. Walden strengthens an already very formidable Braves bullpen.

Fri Nov 9 201209:06Tommy Hanson to compete for No. 5 starter job
Tommy Hanson is expected to compete with Julio Teheran and Randall Delgado in spring training for the Braves' No. 5 starter job.
Of course, there's a pretty good chance the Braves will trade one of the pitchers to get outfield help. Hanson would seem to be the most likely candidate to go, as he's reached arbitration and didn't look like the same pitcher this season while coming back from shoulder issues.

Tommy Hanson was hammered in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates, allowing five runs on nine hits over his six frames.
Hanson walked one and racked up six strikeouts in the brutal outing. The Pirates broke it open with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Garrett Jones. The 26-year-old right-hander finishes up an extremely disappointing regular season with a 13-10 record, 4.48 ERA and 161/71 K/BB ratio over 174 2/3 innings.

Tommy Hanson delivered a strong outing in Thursday's victory over the Marlins, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Hanson punched out four in the game while walking two. Carlos Lee got the Fish on the board in the third inning with an RBI double, and they pushed across an unearned run in the fourth, aided by an errant pickoff throw. Hanson will head into his regular season finale against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Tuesday with a 13-9 record, 4.38 ERA and 155/70 K/BB ratio over 168 2/3 innings.

Sun Sep 23 201209:12Tommy Hanson to remain in rotation
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Tommy Hanson will remain in the rotation and start Thursday against Miami.
Hanson struggled again Friday and is now 0-4 with a 5.06 ERA in his past seven starts. While he will remain in the rotation for the rest of the regular season, he's likely pitched his way out of the postseason rotation.

Tommy Hanson was hammered in a losing effort against the Phillies on Friday, surrendering five runs on four hits in his 5 1/3 innings.
He also issued three free passes while striking out five in the game. Of the four hits that he allowed, three of them left the ballpark, with Kevin Frandsen, Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz all launching homers in the game. The 25-year-old right-hander has been very disappointing this season, posting a 4.46 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over his 163 1/3 innings. He'll attempt to get back on track when he takes on the Marlins at home on Thursday.

Wed Aug 29 201221:49Tommy Hanson ripped by Padres
Tommy Hanson was knocked around by the feeble Padres offense Wednesday, surrendering four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits and two walks over just 4 2/3 innings.
Hanson was unscored upon in the first three frames, but the Pads got to him in the middle innings. It's the second straight start that he's been unable to solve a less than stellar offense, as the Giants beat him up last week. Hanson will take a disappointing 4.45 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into next week's start against the Rockies.

Fri Aug 24 201201:18Tommy Hanson takes loss to Giants
Tommy Hanson gave up five runs -- four earned -- in 4 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Giants.
Hanson took his first loss in seven starts, as his recently ample run support dried up tonight. With three more bases on balls, he's walked 59 in 137 innings for the season. That's three more batters than he walked in 202 2/3 innings in 2010. Last year, he walked 46 in 130 innings. While he's still been pretty good at times, Hanson isn't the same pitcher he was before his shoulder woes.

Sat Aug 18 201200:21Tommy Hanson strong in return from DL
Tommy Hanson turned in a strong performance in his return from the DL on Friday, allowing three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Hanson punched out five while walking two in the game. He cruised along until the sixth inning until Andre Ethier got the Dodgers on the board with a two-run blast. Shane Victorino added an RBI double in the seventh to complete the damage against him. The 25-year-old right-hander has dealt with several injuries this season, but has more than enough talent to be a mixed league asset for the remainder of the season. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this outing when he takes on the Nationals in Washington on Wednesday.

Fri Aug 17 201215:05Tommy Hanson activated, will start Friday
Braves activated RHP Tommy Hanson from the 15-day disabled list.
Hanson will get the ball Friday against the Dodgers. The right-hander spent just over the minimum amount of time on the DL with a lower back strain and tossed five scoreless innings in his lone rehab start. Dealing with reduced velocity, Hanson is still striking out nearly a batter per inning this season but hasn't been terribly effective overall, posting a 4.29 ERA and 1.44 WHIP.
