Lewis has really picked up lately, with 11 hits and seven RBI in six games this month. He hit just .200/.250/.311 in his first dozen games for the Jays. However, now he's making a case to play regularly after Edwin Encarnacion returns. |

Fred Lewis finished 3-for-4 with an RBI Saturday against the A's. |
Lewis has fit in well with the Toronto since coming over in mid-April from the Giants. He's started the last three games and is even batting leadoff. As long as this lasts, he's worth owning in AL-only leagues. |
Mon Apr 19 2010 | 16:45 | Lewis leading off against Royals |
Fred Lewis will lead off and play left field for a second straight day on Monday. |
Lewis is 1-for-5 with a double and a stolen base since being acquired from the Giants last week. He should continue to get plenty of playing time against right-handed pitching, so he should be owned in AL-only leagues. |

Fri Apr 16 2010 | 17:19 | Lewis a late arrival in Toronto |
Fred Lewis would have started Friday, but he didn't arrive in Toronto in time. |
He should be availble off the bench. Lewis won't be a regular right away for the Jays, but he was an obvious choice to start tonight with Edwin Encarnacion still sidelined and Jose Bautista filling in at third base. |

Mon Apr 12 2010 | 23:37 | Fred Lewis' fate to be decided this week |
The Giants have indicated to Fred Lewis (rib cage) that he will be activated from the disabled list or traded by the weekend, according to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. |
Lewis is with Triple-A Fresno for a four-game road trip this week, however the rehab stint is not expected to extend beyond Thursday. The Giants face an obvious roster crunch with six outfielders on the 25-man roster and not enough playing time to go around as it is. Lewis, 29, would obviously draw quite a bit of interest due to his plate discipline and value on defense. The former second-round pick has a .277/.355/.420 batting line in the major leagues. |

Tue Apr 6 2010 | 17:52 | Lewis (rib cage) to begin rehab on Thursday |
Fred Lewis (rib cage) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Thursday. |
Lewis, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to March 27 due to a strained left intercostal muscle, is eligible to return on March 11. The disabled list only delayed a difficult decision for Brian Sabean and company, as Lewis is currently out of options. With an already-crowded outfield in San Francisco, Lewis is probably hoping for a fresh start elsewhere. |
