Royals reassigned INFs Christian Colon, Anthony Seratelli and Brandon Wood, C Adam Moore and OF Willy Taveras to minor league camp. |
No surprises in this bunch. Colon hasn't lived up to the hype attached to being the No. 4 overall pick in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. The 23-year-old owns a .275/.341/.372 batting line over his first three pro seasons and may end up as a utility infielder in the long run. |

Tue Aug 7 2012 | 11:26 | Royals promote SS Colon to Triple-A |
The Royals have promoted prospect shortstop Christian Colon to Triple-A Omaha. |
Colon, the fourth overall pick in 2010, was hitting .289/.364/.392 with five home runs, 27 RBI, 12 stolen bases and a .756 OPS in 73 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season. The 23-year-old now has a .707 OPS in 1,181 plate appearances in the pros. While he has been a bit of a disappointment as a prospect, he could still end up as the Royals' second baseman or a utility man in the long haul. |

Fri Apr 8 2011 | 11:42 | Royals prospect Colon homers in AA debut |
2010 first-round pick Christian Colon went 2-for-4 with a homer Thursday for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. |
Colon made his pro debut last year at high-A Wilmington, so it's no surprise to see the Royals staying aggressive and pushing him up to Double-A for his first full season. He might be the team's second baseman next year. |
