Tue Mar 18 201415:08Jets not aggressively trying to re-sign Cro
The New York Post reports the Jets "aren't being very aggressive" in trying to re-sign free agent CB Antonio Cromartie.
Cromartie wants to return and play for Rex Ryan, but he isn't going to play for peanuts. We'd guess he'd take a deal similar to Cortland Finnegan's with the Dolphins -- two years and $11 million. But GM John Idzik seems hellbent on playing it slow and letting the market come to him. It's already cost the Jets Vontae Davis and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Cromartie has drawn interest from the Cardinals. Aside from them, his market has been quiet.

Sun Mar 16 201417:17Antonio Cromartie 'wants to return' to Jets
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports free agent Antonio Cromartie "wants to return" to the Jets.
This isn't really a secret, as Cromartie made it clear late last season that he wants to retire a Jet. It's just unclear whether the feeling is mutual. The Jets are "still interested" in free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and aren't known to be pursuing Cromartie. Cromartie turns 30 next month.

Wed Mar 12 201419:29Cromartie angling for job with Redskins
Free agent CB Antonio Cromartie is "open" to playing for the Redskins, but they've yet to express interest.
The Washington Post reported Monday that the 'Skins were more interested in Aqib Talib, Corey Graham and Captain Munnerlyn, but the first two are off the market, while Munnerlyn is visiting the Vikings. The fact that Cromartie is already leaking who he's "open" to playing for is a sign his market is ice cold. Regardless, the 'Skins have a need opposite DeAngelo Hall.

Mon Mar 10 201411:59Skins not expressing intrerest in Cromartie
The Redskins have not expressed interest in free agent CB Antonio Cromartie.
Per the Washington Post, the Skins are more interested in free agent corners Aqib Talib, Corey Graham and Captain Munnerlyn. They're all younger and coming off far better seasons than Cromartie, whose hip issues played a role in his 2013 tank job. Cromartie's market is completely unknown right now.

Thu Jan 30 201414:34Antonio Cromartie doesn't need hip surgery
Antonio Cromartie doesn't need to undergo surgery on his troublesome hip, and expects to be "100 percent" by the end of next month.
Cromartie has also vowed to be better than he was in his stellar 2012 season. Going on 30, Cro just needs to worry about being better than he was in his rough 2013. Fully expected to be a salary-cap casualty - by his own admission - Cromartie still hopes to return to the Jets for 2014.

Wed Jan 15 201420:05Antonio Cromartie still expects to be cut
Antonio Cromartie reiterated Wednesday that he expects to be a cap casualty.
In addition to his $4.3 million salary next season, Cro is due a $5 million roster bonus in March. "Just because my cap number is very high," Cro said when asked why he believed he'd be cut. "And I had one of the worst seasons of my career. ... I just had a bad year. That falls heavily on me and no one else." Cro also maintained that he hopes to re-sign with the Jets and finish his career in New York. Cro's public willingness to re-sign even before he's cut loose is a sign the sides should be able to figure something out.

Mon Jan 6 201416:14Jets can save $9.5M by releasing Cromartie
The Jets will save $9.5 million in salary cap space when they release Antonio Cromartie.
The transaction is considered a formality to avoid Cromartie's $5 million offseason roster bonus. Cromartie has stated publicly he wants to re-sign with the Jets even they cut him, and retire with Gang Green. Cromartie is coming off of a horrific season, but is a Rex Ryan favorite, and the Jets couldn't upgrade on his talent with limited cap room. We suspect "Cro" will re-sign for a relatively cheap sum over three or four years. He turns 30 in April.

Sun Jan 5 201409:39Jets expected to release CB Antonio Cromartie
Antonio Cromartie expects to be released by the Jets.
Cromartie is entering the final year of his contract and is scheduled to count $15 million against the 2014 salary cap. Both he and ESPN New York expect Gang Green to sever ties before a $5 million roster bonus is due in March. Cromartie will turn 30 in April, may need hip surgery, and is coming off a horrific season. He hopes to re-sign with Nw York after testing the waters.

Mon Dec 9 201316:41Antonio Cromartie diagnosed with concussion
Antonio Cromartie has been officially diagnosed with a concussion.
Cromartie played 67-of-70 snaps in Sunday's win, so he either concealed his injury or didn't realize he was hurt. He should be considered 50-50 for Week 15 against the Panthers. Were Cromartie unable to go, the Jets would be left with Dee Milliner and Darrin Walls as their top two cornerbacks. Even if Cromartie plays, it's a dream matchup for Cam Newton.

Sun Dec 8 201322:36Antonio Cromartie has a head injury
Antonio Cromartie sustained a head injury during Sunday's Week 14 win over the Raiders.
Cromartie didn't appear to miss any time and the injury wasn't announced until after the game. It appears that he revealed symptoms once in the locker room. If Cromartie does have a concussion, he'll be in a race to get cleared ahead of a Week 15 game at Carolina. The Jets secondary is already a disaster with the likes of Dee Miliner and Ed Reed playing the majority of snaps.

Fri Nov 29 201313:38Antonio Cromartie feeling good with hip
Jets CB Antonio Cromartie (hip) is "very optimistic" about playing in Week 13.
Even with Cromartie in the lineup, Sunday's game will give Mike Wallace a plus matchup. The Jets' secondary has been torched deep all season long.

Thu Nov 28 201308:19Antonio Cromartie headed for game-time call
Coach Rex Ryan expects Antonio Cromartie (hip) to be a game-time decision for Week 13 against the Dolphins.
Cromartie's injury is a concern because it's related to the fracture he sustained in the joint in 2008. He didn't practice Wednesday and ESPN New York suggests it could be a "serious recurrence." Cromartie has been atrocious this season, but the Jets other options are even worse. Mike Wallace would run free all day against Darrin Walls and Dee Milliner.

Sun Nov 24 201320:37Antonio Cromartie says hip 'gave out'
Antonio Cromartie said his hip "gave out on me a little bit" in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Cromartie broke his right hip while with the Chargers in 2008 and he's battled issues with it off-and-on since then. It's part of the reason he's been so ineffective this season after a sparkling 2012 campaign. Today's problem came on a non-contact play, suggesting a more serious problem for Cromartie. The Jets take on the Dolphins in Week 13.

Sun Nov 24 201315:52Cromartie leaves with hip injury
Jets CB Antonio Cromartie exited Sunday's Week 12 game with a second-half hip injury.
He was immediately deemed "doubtful" to return, which bodes poorly for Cro's chances of playing in Week 13. His backup is Darrin Walls.

Fri Nov 22 201309:43Cromartie blames poor play on technique
Antonio Cromartie blames his and rest of the Jets' defensive backfield troubles on technique errors.
"Every (problem we have is) something we did within the first 15 yards of that play that gets us in trouble," Cromartie said. "It's not a point of a guy just flat out beating us." Actually, Cromartie has been getting flat-out beat on a regular basis this season. He was torched by Marquise Goodwin last week. Cromartie has also been beat handily by Nate Washington and A.J. Green in 2013. He's Pro Football Focus' No. 99 corner out of 108 qualifiers. Next up for Cromartie is Torrey Smith. Fire Smith up as a top-end WR2 for Week 12.

Mon Oct 14 201309:01Antonio Cromartie plays, but struggles
Antonio Cromartie (knee) struggled badly in Sunday's Week 6 loss to the Steelers.
Cromartie gave up a 55-yard touchdown to Emmanuel Sanders when the Jets were in Cover zero and also got flagged for a big pass interference call. Perhaps he wasn't 100 percent just a few days after hyperextending his knee, but it's been a season-long scuffle for last year's dominant shutdown corner. Fantasy owners shouldn't be overly fearful of Cromartie any longer.
