Lopez is a rather obvious candidate to be traded to the Phillies now that Chase Utley will need thumb surgery, a possibility that may be helped by assistant general manager Benny Looper's previous ties to Seattle. The 26-year-old infielder is batting just .244/.271/.336 with five home runs and 30 RBI in 307 at-bats with the Mariners this season, but would likely thrive in the cozy Citizens Bank Park. Lopez's contract includes a $4.5 million club option for next season or a $250,000 buyout. He is capable of playing either third base or second base. | ||||||

It's a fun guessing game, but there's no way to know for sure. That being said, given the injuries to Placido Polanco and Chase Utley, Lopez would be a decent fit for Philadelphia. The 26-year-old isn't a gifted fielder, but is capable of playing second and third base. | ||||||
