Thu Jul 1 201014:39Report: Mariners trying to trade Jose Lopez
Sources tell Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that the Mariners are "trying to move" Jose Lopez.
Lopez is a rather obvious candidate to be traded to the Phillies now that Chase Utley will need thumb surgery, a possibility that may be helped by assistant general manager Benny Looper's previous ties to Seattle. The 26-year-old infielder is batting just .244/.271/.336 with five home runs and 30 RBI in 307 at-bats with the Mariners this season, but would likely thrive in the cozy Citizens Bank Park. Lopez's contract includes a $4.5 million club option for next season or a $250,000 buyout. He is capable of playing either third base or second base.

Wed Jun 30 201013:12Are Phils scouting Jose Lopez?
Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times speculates that the Phillies dispatched top scout Charlie Kerfeld to Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night in order to watch Jose Lopez.
It's a fun guessing game, but there's no way to know for sure. That being said, given the injuries to Placido Polanco and Chase Utley, Lopez would be a decent fit for Philadelphia. The 26-year-old isn't a gifted fielder, but is capable of playing second and third base.

Sat Jun 26 201020:01Lopez pushes M's past Brew Crew
Jose Lopez slugged a go-ahead two-run home run in a 5-4 win over the Brewers on Saturday.
Lopez is batting .325 (13-for-40) over a recent 10-game hitting streak. His two-run shot off Randy Wolf in the fourth gave the Mariners a 5-4 lead. Doug Fister, Brian Sweeney and Brandon League combined for six scoreless innings from there. The Mariners are still buried in the American League West, but they have won seven out of their last 10 games.

Wed Jun 16 201022:14Jose Lopez lifted with sore left knee

Lopez has apparently been dealing with knee soreness for quite a while, and could be given the next few days off. Matt Tuiasosopo replaced him.
Fri Jun 4 201002:17Mariners' Lopez hits three-run homer in win
Jose Lopez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer as the Mariners beat the Twins on Thursday.
Lopez extended his hitting streak to 10 games, and he ended up 7-for-16 with two homers and six RBI in the series against the Twins. It's probably time to pick him up in any mixed leagues in which he was dropped.
Wed Jun 2 201001:25Mariners' Lopez hits third homer
Jose Lopez had a two-run homer and an RBI single in the win over the Twins on Tuesday.
Lopez has finally started to pick it up. He's hit in eight straight and scored a run in six straight. His OPS stood at 505 a week ago, but he's up to 587 now.
Sat Apr 24 201000:34Jose Lopez hits first career grand slam
Jose Lopez hit his first career grand slam in Friday's loss to the White Sox.
Lopez is batting cleanup and playing third base for the Mariners daily, but he came into tonight with zero home runs and four RBI. It's hard to get too excited about him while he bats in a miserable lineup inside a pitcher-friendly park. Still, he likely has multi-position eligibility in most formats and we expect him to push for 20 homers.
