Wed Jun 1 2011 | 23:05 | Drabek lasts less than an inning in rout |
After weeks of flirting with disaster, Kyle Drabek finally got rocked on Wednesday, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks in just 2/3 of an inning in Toronto's 13-9 loss to the Indians. |
He notched one strikeout. Drabek has issued at least three walks in all but one of his 12 starts, and entered this evening with a 42/42 K/BB ratio and 1.61 WHIP, so it was only a matter of time before his 4.16 ERA experienced a big uptick. It now rests at 4.69. Drabek doesn't look likely to have any real value in mixed leagues any time soon. |

Sat Apr 30 2011 | 19:13 | Drabek chased early against Yankees |
Kyle Drabek was chased for five runs over just 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday. |
It was the shortest outing of his brief major league career. The Yankees touched him up for three runs in the second inning and two in the third. All told, he allowed seven hits while walking four and striking out four. Drabek should be useful in fantasy at certain times this season, but keep in mind that there will likely be some rough patches against these tough AL East lineups. |

The outing moved him to 2-0 on the season. He owns a solid 3.30 ERA and acceptable 1.37 WHIP through his first five starts, and though he isn't looking set to be any sort of dynamic fantasy option, he does look ready to take the ball every fifth day in the big leagues. |

Simply excellent. The only run scored on a groundout in the fourth inning while Drabek didn't allow his first hit until Denard Span singled to left with one out in the sixth inning. He struck out seven and induced 11 ground balls in the way. Life isn't easy in the AL East, especially for a rookie, but this was a mighty impressive outing. He's a must-own in AL-only leagues and can be useful in certain matchups in mixed leagues, as well. |

Fri Feb 4 2011 | 16:05 | Drabek unlikely to have innings cap? |
Blue Jays manager John Farrell has hinted that Kyle Drabek will not have a strict innings limit this season. |
Drabek threw 179 innings between the majors and minors in 2010. "You can look at the (innings) progression he's already gone through to this point," Farrell said. "What it'll come down to now is his efficiency in games." The 23-year-old will compete with Jesse Litsch, Scott Richmond, Marc Rzepczynski and Jo-Jo Reyes for one of the final two spots in the rotation. Barring a really poor spring, we expect the top prospect to break camp with the big club. |

Blue Jays MLB.com beat writer Gregor Chisholm writes that Kyle Drabek is "likely" penciled in as the team's No. 4 starter. |
He'll have to pitch well in spring training to earn a slot in the rotation, but he's a favorite to break camp with one of the final two spots. Drabek handled himself fairly well in three September starts and his upside is tremendous. Marc Rzepczynski, Jesse Litsch and Zach Stewart are the other main candidates for the back end of the rotation. |

Tue Oct 5 2010 | 09:26 | Drabek, Stewart to fight for rotation spot |
Blue Jays prospects Kyle Drabek and Zach Stewart will battle for the final spot in the club's starting rotation next spring. |
"Though the numbers don't look the same, he and Drabek, down the stretch, were neck-and-neck," GM Alex Anthopoulos said. "The way Zach pitched the last few months, he's not as highly-touted but he's as good a prospect as Kyle Drabek." We'll go ahead and call Drabek the favorite. He turned in a 1.35 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio in three September starts for the Jays this season. |

Kyle Drabek yielded three earned runs over five innings against the Mariners Wednesday as he took another loss. |
Drabek, one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, is now 0-2 in two big league starts. Tonight is a little concerning considering he was facing one of the league's worst offenses, but there's no reason to really worry about his long-term outlook. Doug Drabek's son is only 22 years old and still projects as a high-upside power pitcher. He's expected to get one more start this season, possibly against the Yankees. |

Doug Drabek's son was the jewel of the blockbuster that sent Roy Halladay to Philadelphia. After posting a 2.94 ERA and 1.20 WHIP at Double-A New Hampshire this season, he predictably found the sledding rougher tonight. Drabek was tagged for nine hits while walking three and striking out five. The fireballer is expected to get two more starts down the, including an outing against the Mariners next time out. Those streaming late in the season should roll the dice. |

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Kyle Drabek from Double-A New Hampshire. |
The 22-year-old Drabek will make his major league debut on Wednesday night against the Orioles. He had a terrific 2.94 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 rate in 27 starts this year at the Double-A level and seems like a fine streamer option in deep mixed leagues. Facing the O's should help. |

The Blue Jays will call up Kyle Drabek and likely give him three starts by the end of the season, according to GM Alex Anthopoulos. |
