Josh Outman (elbow) threw two innings in the Instructional League on Monday and was "outstanding," according to Athletics manager Bob Geren.
Good news. Outman has been sidelined since suffering a setback with his surgically-repaired left elbow in late-June. He hasn't pitched in the major leagues since June 19, 2009.

Josh Outman (elbow) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Tuesday.
Outman has been sidelined since June with soreness in his Tommy John-repaired left elbow. The A's are going to handle him with care, but a successful simulated game will go along way toward his eventual return. The southpaw hasn't pitched in a major league game since June of 2009.

Josh Outman (elbow) still hopes to be a contributor for the A's in September.
Outman has been throwing at a distance of 140 feet and will report to the A's minor league complex in Phoenix on Monday. The left-hander is coming back from Tommy John surgery and was shut down in June after he experienced some soreness.

Josh Outman (elbow) is still shut down from throwing.
Outman reported some discomfort in his surgically-repaired elbow in mid-June and the A's are going to take every precaution toward ensuring that he doesn't re-injure anything. For now, he's considered out "indefinitely."

Mon Jun 14 201022:50Outman has flexor tendon discomfort
Josh Outman (elbow) has experienced some flexor tendon discomfort recently, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Slusser notes that Joey Devine went through similar discomfort during his recovery from Tommy John surgery and eventually required platelet-rich plasma injections. That's not to say that Outman will go the same route, but it could certainly be a consideration should he continue to feel pain.

Athletics transferred LHP Josh Outman from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list due to Tommy John surgery.
Outman underwent Tommy John surgery last June and only recently has he begun to throw off a mound. There's a chance the 25-year-old southpaw can return to the majors after the All-Star break.

A's placed LHP Josh Outman on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with Tommy John surgery.
He underwent the procedure in June and just began throwing off a mound. Outman is hoping to return to Oakland's roster sometime after the All-Star break. The A's sure hope so. The 25-year-old went 4-1 with a 3.48 ERA in 12 starts last season before the injury.
