Mon Jun 27 201123:18Casey Blake gets in on the fun in rout
Casey Blake collected three of the Dodgers' 24 hits in their 15-0 romp at Target Field on Monday evening, homering while notching his 17th and 18th RBI.
Looking more and more like a role player at age 37, Blake was mired in a 2-for-22 slump entering this evening. More than likely, tonight is not a sign of things to come.

Tue Jun 21 201118:39Blake out of lineup again Tuesday
Casey Blake is out of the Dodgers' lineup for the second straight day Tuesday.
We haven't heard anything official from the Dodgers, but one wonders if Blake is dealing with another injury. It's not a large leap considering the time he has missed so far this season. Juan Uribe will make another start at third base Tuesday while Aaron Miles plays second.

Mon Jun 20 201118:15Blake not in Monday's lineup
Casey Blake is out of Monday's lineup against the Tigers.
Blake played on Saturday and Sunday, so he's probably just getting a day off. Still, with his durability issues lately, another injury wouldn't be surprising. Juan Uribe will start at the hot corner Monday while Jamey Carroll plays second base.

Tue Jun 14 201109:18Blake out again with neck soreness
Casey Blake sat out a third straight game Monday due to lingering soreness in his neck.
Blake was available to pinch-hit, but he acknowledged to reporters that the neck discomfort will not allow him to play the field anytime soon. "There are a couple of angles I get at where it pinches the nerve," said the third baseman. "What really gets me is a popup." He is day-to-day.

Sat Jun 11 201119:08Blake (neck) out of the lineup
Casey Blake (neck) is out of Saturday's lineup against the Rockies.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Blake called it a pinched nerve. However, no tests have been scheduled and he's considered day-to-day. The 37-year-old is increasingly injury-prone, so it's hard to count on him as a fantasy option.

Wed Jun 1 201102:20Casey Blake hits three-run homer in win
Casey Blake went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk Tuesday in the Dodgers' 8-2 victory over the Rockies.
It's his sixth multihit game in his last nine appearances. Blake has been limited to 18 games by injuries, but he's hit .319 when he's been able to take the field. He's also excelled in the second spot in the order, giving Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp more opportunities to drive runners in.

Fri May 27 201118:41Dodgers activate 3B Blake from disabled list
Dodgers activated 3B Casey Blake from the 15-day disabled list.
He'll play third base and bat second in Friday's game against the Marlins. Blake was batting .321/.446/.509 with two home runs and six RBI over his first 66 plate appearances before undergoing surgery for a staph infection in his left elbow. The Dodgers are still missing Juan Uribe, but they are slowly getting back to having a respectable lineup.

Wed May 25 201112:41Blake (elbow) could return as soon as Friday
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday that Casey Blake (elbow) could be activated from the disabled list on either Friday or Saturday.
Great news. Blake went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run scored Tuesday in his second minor league rehab game with Triple-A Albuquerque. Barring any setbacks, he should rejoin the Dodgers this weekend.

Mon May 23 201119:45Blake (elbow) begins rehab stint Monday
Casey Blake (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Albuquerque.
"He's physically ready, so it's a matter of getting his timing," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly. If all goes well, Blake could be activated the start of a six-game homestand Friday against the Marlins. The veteran third baseman was batting .321/.446/.509 with two home runs and six RBI over his first 66 plate appearances prior to going on the disabled list with a staph infection in his elbow late last month.

Wed May 4 201109:26Blake to keep elbow in brace before rehab
Casey Blake must keep his surgically-repared left elbow in a brace for nine days before beginning his rehab.
Blake had surgery last Thursday to remove infected tissue from the elbow. He's expected to miss somewhere around 4-6 weeks, so the Dodgers will likely push ahead with Juan Uribe at third base and Aaron Miles at second.

Fri Apr 29 201119:33Casey Blake to miss 'at least' four weeks
Casey Blake will be sidelined for "at least" four weeks after undergoing surgery on his infected left elbow on Friday.
He will be in a sling for the next 10 days, meaning the earliest he's likely to be cleared for any baseball activities is two weeks. His injury is forcing a Dodger team that was already playing Jamey Carroll every day to make Aaron Miles its primary second baseman. Los Angeles may be lucky to still be in contention by the time it gets both Rafael Furcal and Blake healthy.

Fri Apr 29 201118:43Dodgers place Blake (elbow) on 15-day DL
Dodgers placed INF Casey Blake on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 25, with an infection of the olecranon bursa in his left elbow.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday that Blake could miss as much as four weeks. The veteran third baseman required an IV earlier this week and could need minor surgery to flush out the elbow. Juan Uribe should fill in at third base during his absence while Aaron Miles will see most of the time at second base.

Wed Apr 27 201111:48Casey Blake (elbow) could miss four weeks
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday that he was told by team trainer Stan Conte that Casey Blake (elbow) could be sidelined for four weeks.
"It's one of those situations you can't play around with," said Mattingly. When asked what sort of treatment would be needed for Blake's elbow, Mattingly said doctors might have to "open it up and flush it out." Juan Uribe would be the best option to fill in at third base, but he is currently sidelined with a thigh injury. That means the Dodgers will be forced to use Aaron Miles, which is obviously less than ideal. Blake is expected to be placed on the disabled list soon while Mattingly said infielder Russ Mitchell will likely take his place on the active roster.

Wed Apr 27 201110:10Blake (elbow) likely headed for disabled list
Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that Casey Blake (elbow) is likely headed for the disabled list.
Bad news, as it turns out that Blake is actually dealing with an infection in his left elbow. Though he is at the ballpark Wednesday, he was sent to the hospital on Tuesday night after his fever spiked. Juan Uribe is also hurting right now, so the Dodgers are going to have to continue to push ahead with reserves at third base, shortstop and second.
