Sun Apr 11 2010 | 19:18 | Angels' Wood struggles again |
Brandon Wood went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and an error in the field in the Angels' 9-4 loss to the Athletics on Sunday. |
New season, same Brandon Wood. The game didn't end in a close score, but Wood's error with two outs in the eighth broke a 4-4 tie and jump-started a three-run inning for the A's. Wood is now 1-for-19 with seven strikeouts and no walks. Maicer Izturis is far from a poor option at the hot corner, so Wood needs to avoid an extended poor showing to keep the lion's share of the starts at third base. |
Thu Apr 8 2010 | 01:08 | Angels' Wood goes 0-for-4 in loss |
Brandon Wood is 1-for-12 this season after going hitless in four at-bats Wednesday against the Twins. |
It's hard to believe the Angels have gone three straight games against right-handers without giving Maicer Izturis a start. It seems like a given that Izturis will be in there Thursday, probably in Wood's place. Wood is the starter, but if he expects to play six times a week, he needs to earn it. |
