Thu Nov 18 2010 | 08:50 | Rox seek versatile right-handed bat |
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Rockies are seeking a right-handed bat with versatility. |
Heyman sees Ty Wigginton and Jorge Cantu as two possibilities, though it isn't clear if the Rockies have actually expressed interest in these specific players. Both players could be a platoon partner with Todd Helton at first base, but Cantu is also capable of splitting time at third while Wigginton can play both second base and the hot corner. |

Fri Oct 29 2010 | 22:01 | M's could target Wigginton to play third |
The Mariners are expected to target pending free agent Ty Wigginton for their third base job next season. |
The M's are expected to decline their option on Jose Lopez, and Chone Figgins is likely to stay at second base until Dustin Ackley is ready. A 2010 All-Star, Wigginton batted .248/.312/.415 with 22 homers for the Orioles. He can also play first and second base, the outfield and even shortstop in a pinch. Nick Punto, who recently had his option declined by the Twins, could be another option. |

Mon Sep 6 2010 | 16:47 | Orioles' Wigginton goes 0-for-4 |
Ty Wigginton went 0-for-4 versus the Yankees on Monday, dropping his average to 250. |
Are the Orioles really going to have Wigginton finish out the year as an everyday player? After posting OPSs of 1026 in April and 877 in May, he came in at 594, 662 and 673 the last three months. In September, he's 6-for-24 with two RBI through six games. It'd make a lot more sense for the Orioles to start giving Nolan Reimold more time. |
Tue Aug 17 2010 | 21:23 | O's won't trade Wigginton or Scott |
According to Dan Connolly and Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Ty Wigginton and Luke Scott were claimed off waivers, but pulled back by the Orioles. |
Because the pair were pulled back, they are no longer eligible to be traded. As far as Wigginton is concerned, it is a bit of a lost opportunity. He will be a free agent after the season. Scott, meanwhile, is under team control through 2012 and has proved to be a consistent offensive force this season. |

Wed Aug 11 2010 | 18:03 | Report: O's place Ty Wigginton on waivers |
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Orioles have placed infielder Ty Wigginton on waivers. |
Not a shock. Wigginton, 32, has posted a .261/.335/.458 batting line, 18 home runs and 60 RBI in 391 at-bats this season while playing multiple positions for the Orioles. He's likely to be claimed by an interested team, but whether a trade can be worked out is a different story. Remember, every American League team will get a shot at him before the NL gets a whiff. |

Sat Jul 31 2010 | 15:37 | Wigginton, Scott both in Saturday lineup |
Ty Wigginton and Luke Scott are both in the lineup for the Orioles Saturday. |
This would appear to make it less likely that they'll be traded, but it certainly doesn't guarantee they won't be. Both players, however, seem to be good bets to remain in Baltimore. |
Thu Jul 29 2010 | 19:19 | Report: "50/50" chance Wigginton gets dealt |
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Twins, Phillies and Giants are "cooling" on Ty Wigginton but that there is still a "50/50" chance that he's traded. |
He's hitting .250/.327/.445 and would provide good infield depth for a contender. Wigginton is capable of playing first, second and third base. The Orioles will try to parlay that into at least one useful prospect. |

Mon Jul 26 2010 | 17:15 | Wigginton has suspension reduced to two games |
Ty Wigginton will begin serving a two-game suspension Monday night. |
The good news is that he had the suspension reduced from three games to two. Jake Fox will start at first base in his place Monday, as the O's should probably prepare themselves for life after Wigginton, anyway. |

Fri Jul 23 2010 | 16:02 | MLB suspends Wigginton three games |
MLB suspended infielder Ty Wigginton three games for his actions during Thursday's game against the Twins. |
Wigginton got in umpire Gary Darling's face after a blown call at first base and will miss at least two games as a result. He is appealing for now, but the Orioles might prefer he drop it. Some teams might see him being worth a little less in trade if he has to miss a key series in August. |

Fri Jul 23 2010 | 08:59 | Yanks looking at right-handed bats |
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Yankees are interested in Ty Wigginton of the Orioles and Jhonny Peralta of the Indians as possible right-handed bats off the bench. |
Wigginton is capable of playing third base, second and first while Peralta can play shortstop and third base. Heyman names Cody Ross of the Marlins as a possible solution for their lefty-heavy outfield. |

Wed Jul 21 2010 | 16:21 | Orioles' Wigginton homers again |
Ty Wigginton homered in a second straight game Wednesday against the Rays. |
Just in the nick of time for the Orioles. Wigginton was in a pretty horrible slump for two months, hitting just two homers between May 16 and July 19, but with two bombs in two days, he's up to 16 for the season. A little hot streak would definitely help the Orioles' attempts to turn him into a couple of prospects. |
Wed Jul 21 2010 | 14:46 | Giants, Rangers and Angels like Wigginton |
Jeff Fletcher of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Giants, Rangers and Angels are among the teams that have shown interest in Ty Wigginton this month. |
Wigginton would make sense for any number of teams. It's worth noting that he has batted just .201 with two home runs and 14 RBI since June 1, but he is a right-handed bat capable of playing third base, second or first. |

Fri Jul 16 2010 | 19:07 | Wigginton and Tejada being shopped |
Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that Ty Wigginton and Miguel Tejada have emerged as the Orioles' two biggest trade chips. |
According to Zrebiec, multiple teams interested in Wigginton, including the Phillies, Yankees and Rangers. He writes that the O's have been talking to the Phillies for "several weeks" regarding Wigginton, but that they also have interest in Tejada. He also adds that the Rangers have a scout in attendance for Friday's game, suggesting that their interest in Wigginton is "legit." It would be surprising if he makes it to the deadline. |

Wed Jul 7 2010 | 12:59 | O's scouting Padres minor league system |
The Orioles have scouted the Padres minor league system recently, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com. |
According to Morosi, it is unclear whether the Padres have interest in Ty Wigginton, though he is versatile enough to find a place on virtually any major league roster. The Orioles are also expected to shop Miguel Tejada and Jeremy Guthrie this month. |

Sat Jul 3 2010 | 08:32 | Phillies interested in Wigginton, others |
Ty Wigginton is one of many players the Phillies are interested in acquiring. |
ESPN's Jayson Stark also lists Jose Lopez, Jhonny Peralta, Jose Bautista, Miguel Tejada and Garrett Atkins as possibilities. Adam Kennedy's name has also been thrown out there by other sources. With Chase Utley sidelined for two months and Placido Polanco also on the shelf, the Phils are looking for some offensive help. |

Fri Jul 2 2010 | 15:55 | Report: Yanks interested in Wigginton |
The Yankees have reportedly demonstrated some interest in Ty Wigginton. |
The Yankees could really use a legitimate backup for Alex Rodriguez at third and Robinson Cano at second. Wigginton qualifies, though he's a poor defensive second baseman. Still, the price for his services is probably too high at the moment. |

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Rangers have spoken to the Orioles about acquiring infielder Ty Wigginton and the Marlins about acquiring Wes Helms. |
The Rangers are currently in the market for a right-handed-hitting corner infielder to serve as the primary backup to Justin Smoak and Michael Young. Though he wasn't mentioned in Wilson's report, the Rangers are also thought to have interest in Mike Lowell of the Red Sox. |

Fri May 7 2010 | 00:20 | Orioles' Wigginton hits 10th homer in win |
Ty Wigginton hit his 10th homer -- a two-run shot off Carl Pavano -- to do the Orioles' only damage in a win over the Twins on Thursday. |
Wigginton also had a rare single in the contest. 14 of his 26 hits this season have gone for extra bases. Wigginton was pretty much worthless in the first year of his two-year, $6 million deal with the Orioles, but at least now he figures to bring back a nice prospect in a trade this summer. |
