Fri Jul 30 201000:13Davies gets no-decision in loss to Orioles
Kyle Davis allowed four runs (three earned) over 5 2/3 innings in Thursday's loss to the Orioles.
The right-hander gave up six hits, walked four and threw a pair of wild pitches, so he didn't really deserve a win even though he left the game in line for one. The promise that Davies showed at the end of the 2008 season has all but faded now, as he holds a 5.48 ERA and 1.54 WHIP this season. He'll face the A's on the road next week.
Sat Jul 3 201002:16Royals' Davies strong versus Angels
Kyle Davies limited the Angels to one run in 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision Friday.
Davies went 0-3 with an 8.64 ERA during June, putting his rotation spot in serious jeopardy. He needs another one of these to guarantee that he sticks around after Luke Hochevar returns.
Sat Jun 26 201016:55Davies takes loss vs. Cardinals
Kyle Davies gave up five runs -- four earned -- over seven innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.
He served up a three-run home run to Colby Rasmus in the fourth inning and a two-run shot to Skip Schumaker in the fifth. Davies now has an ugly 6.06 ERA over 15 starts this season and has allowed at least four runs in each of his last six starts. Move along, nothing to see here.
Thu Jun 10 201000:02Davies takes a loss vs. Twins
Kyle Davies yielded five runs -- four earned -- over 6 2/3 innings of work in a loss to the Twins on Wednesday night.
Davies walked five, struck out one and surrendered eight hits while falling to 4-5 on the season. He has given up 15 earned runs in his last 15 2/3 innings and is way off the fantasy radar.
Sat May 22 201019:11Davies takes tough loss vs. Rockies
Kyle Davies allowed just one run over six innings, but was handed a tough-luck loss against the Rockies on Saturday.
Zack Greinke has someone to sympathize with. Davies matched a season-high with six strikeouts while not issuing a walk for the first time this season. He has allowed two runs or less in four out of his last five starts, but only has a 1-2 record to show for it. There are some minor signs of improvement here, but he remains a poor fantasy bet.
Tue May 18 201000:45Royals' Davies earns win over Orioles
Kyle Davies yielded two runs over six innings in a win over the Orioles on Monday.
Davies has bounced back well from his nine-run shellacking by the Rangers on May 6, allowing four runs over 11 innings in his last two starts. Only the desperate should consider using him in AL-only leagues, but he has been solid so far, allowing three runs or fewer in six of his eight starts.
Fri May 7 201000:35Royals' Davies pounded for nine runs
Kyle Davies was lit up by the Rangers on Thursday, surrendering nine runs in four-plus innings.
Yeah, he's still Kyle Davies. The right-hander was off to a nice start, going at least six innings in each of his five outings and amassing a 3.52 ERA. But he's still Kyle Davies. Fortunately, the Royals might have better rotation options by year's end.
Tue Apr 27 201000:22Royals' Davies earns win over Mariners
Kyle Davies outdueled Felix Hernandez by pitching six scoreless innings in the Royals' 4-1 win over the Mariners on Monday.
Davies allowed just one hit before being replaced in a 2-0 game. The Royals added a couple of insurance runs from there and stole a game that seemed to have little chance of winning going in, particularly since closer Joakim Soria was unavailable after throwing three innings the previous two days. Davies is now 2-1 with a 3.65 ERA.
Tue Apr 20 201021:44Davies allows four runs in loss
Kyle Davies allowed four runs over six innings in a 4-3 loss over the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
He struck out four while allowing six hits (including a Vernon Wells homer) and two walks. Davies velocity is up this season, but it hasn't much showed in the way of success, as he is now 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA. He gets the Mariners the next time out.
Wed Apr 14 201017:05Royals' Davies beats Tigers for first win
Kyle Davies yielded three runs in 6 2/3 innings Wednesday in a victory over the Tigers.
Davies and Rick Porcello pitched to a draw through six, but the Royals scored twice off Ryan Perry in the seventh and went on to win 6-3. Davies has been showing better velocity than usual during the young season, but there still isn't much upside here, in part because he is a Royal. There's no need to rush to pick him up in AL-only leagues.
