Tue Aug 16 201120:54Giants sign kicker Rhys Lloyd
Giants signed K Rhys Lloyd.
Lloyd has been purely a kickoff specialist in stints with the Panthers and Vikings. It's still possible that the Giants will sign Shayne Graham to handle field goals while Lawrence Tynes rests his bruised thigh.

Tue Sep 14 201012:18Panthers sign kickoff specialist Lloyd
Panthers signed kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd.
Lloyd was the best in the league at getting touchbacks last year for the Panthers, but they decided to let him go in a cost-cutting move. He failed to make the Vikings' roster but will now replace Todd Carter, who was waived/injured.
Sat Sep 4 201016:17KO specialist Lloyd dumped by Vikes
Vikings waived kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd.
We're not really sure what happened to Llyod. He was one of the best in the league at getting touchbacks while with the Panthers last year, but couldn't kick it deep in the preseason with the Vikings. It's unclear if the Vikings are going to give kickoff duties back to aging veteran placekicker Ryan Longwell. The Vikings ate the $200K signing bonus they gave Lloyd in March.

Mon Aug 30 201023:19Rhys Lloyd may not make Vikings
Kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd is in danger of not making the Vikings due to a poor preseason performance.
Lloyd was a touchback machine last year in Carolina, but hasn't put a single kickoff into the end zone this preseason. "That would be the intent is that you would want touchbacks to occur," said coach Brad Childress. To cut Lloyd, the Vikings would have to eat $200,000 in guaranteed base salary.

Sun Jun 13 201009:14Lloyd will get a chance at field goals
Vikings special teams coach Brian Murphy went out of his way to say that kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd will get a chance to compete for placekicking duties.
We're not really buying this. Ryan Longwell is entrenched as the Vikes' field-goal kicker and went 26-for-28 last season. Lloyd has never attempted an NFL field goal.
