Sat Sep 3 201115:03Bears release TE Desmond Clark
Bears released TE Desmond Clark.
"I played my butt off but sometimes it's more about the business," tweeted Clark. "That's what it boiled down to." This may be the end of the line for the 34-year-old after suffering a knee contusion last week. Clark has 323 catches for 3,591 yards and 27 TDs in his 12-year career.

Mon Aug 29 201117:13Bears say Desmond Clark only has sprain
The Bears are characterizing TE Desmond Clark's knee injury as a routine "bruise."
Clark's injury looked serious when he went down in the third preseason game, but this shouldn't be the factor that prevents him from making the final roster. A numbers game and Clark's age (34) may still cost him his spot on the 53.

Sun Aug 28 201113:25Desmond Clark's injury not season-ending
Desmond Clark's knee injury is not believed to be of the season-ending variety.
Clark got lucky because he took a horrific hit. There's still a chance he won't make the roster, especially if he's out longer than a month.

Tue Aug 2 201113:28Bears bring back TE Desmond Clark
Bears agreed to terms with TE Desmond Clark.
Who would have thought the 34-year-old Clark would outlast Greg Olsen and Brandon Manumaleuna in the Windy City? The Bears tight end corps is now comprised of Clark, Kellen Davis, and former Steeler Matt Spaeth. Clark is nearing the end of the line, so Davis will see the most snaps of the trio.

Mon Jan 24 201110:01Clark doesn't expect to be back with Bears
Impending free agent TE Desmond Clark said he does not expect to be back with the Bears.
Clark spent most of the season on the inactive list, recording just one catch in five games. "I wasn't used this year. Where would I play if I came back, how would they use me?" Clark said following Sunday's loss to the Packers. Clark turns 34 in April and may be nearing the end of the line.

Sun Dec 5 201012:51Dez Clark may not be active again in 2010
Bears beat writer Brad Biggs does not expect TE Desmond Clark to be active for the rest of the season barring injuries.
Clark has been active just once this season, and would not be a fantasy factor even if he found his way into the starting lineup.

Bears declared TE Desmond Clark, third QB Caleb Hanie, RB Kahlil Bell, C Edwin Williams, DE Barry Turner, DE Corey Wootton, CB Josh Moore and S Craig Steltz inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles.

Sun Nov 7 201011:59Clark inactive for Bears
Bears declared TE Desmond Clark (neck) inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills in Toronto.
The Bears won't miss Clark, who doesn't really have a role in Mike Martz's offense. As for the game, note that the roof in Toronto is closed. Other Bears inactives: QB Caleb Hanie (3rd QB), RB Kahlil Bell, G Edwin Williams, DE Corey Wootton, DT Marcus Harrison, CB Zackary Bowman and S Craig Steltz.
Thu Sep 9 201016:18Bears add TE Clark to injury list
Desmond Clark was added to the Bears injury report as limited with an ankle injury Thursday.
Clark's role is no longer consistent enough to be a fantasy factor. He should be on deep league rosters much less in starting lineups.

Sun Jul 18 201009:10Clark was almost out in Chicago?
The Bears thought about releasing TE Desmond Clark before paying him his $475,000 roster bonus in early March, according to beat writer Brad Biggs.
The Bears unsuccessfully shopped Clark before surprisingly paying him the bonus. At age 33 and with Brandon Manumaleuna essentially signed to replace him, Clark may not make it through training camp. The 33-year-old is likely nearing the end of the line.

Thu Apr 15 201009:32Desmond Clark returns to Bears workouts
Desmond Clark has resumed working out with the Bears.
Uncertain of his role in Mike Martz's offense, Clark skipped the first week of the team's voluntary workouts. With Brandon Manumaleuna now on board, Clark's roster spot is in jeopardy.

Mon Apr 5 201014:13Bears TE Clark a no-show for offseason work
Bears TE Desmond Clark is not attending the team's offseason conditioning program.
An early-March report had Clark on the trade block, and Chicago's signing of Brandon Manumaleuna -- a better version of Clark -- indicates that he's not in the team's plans. Due $1 million in 2010 salary, Clark figures to be released shortly. The 33-year-old declined sharply in the passing game last year.
