Wed Apr 4 201212:17Rams sign QB Tom Brandstater
Rams signed exclusive rights free agent QB Tom Brandstater to a one-year contract.
Brandstater is currently behind Sam Bradford on the depth chart, but he'll have to battle just to hold down the No. 3 job by the time training camp rolls around. The Rams showed no faith in Brandstater last season, signing Kellen Clemens off the street to make emergency late-season starts instead.

Rams promoted QB Tom Brandstater from the practice squad.
The strongest sign yet that Sam Bradford's ankle injury is going to hold him out against the 49ers. Briefly on the Rams' active roster earlier this season, Brandstater has yet to appear in a game since being a sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2009.

Rams waived QB Tom Brandstater.
The move was made to clear space on the roster for Mark Clayton, and is a sign the Rams are no longer concerned about Sam Bradford's high-ankle sprain. Waived by three teams since August, Brandstater is running out of NFL chances.

Rams promoted QB Tom Brandstater from the practice squad.
With Sam Bradford out for Week 7 with an ankle injury, Brandstater will serve as A.J. Feeley's backup against the Cowboys. Brandstater was a sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2009, so he should be familiar with OC Josh McDaniels' system. Interestingly, he went through training camp as a Cowboy this season.

Mon Jun 20 201110:24Brandstater unlikely to crack Dolphins roster
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly doesn't envision Tom Brandstater as anything other than a practice-squad option for the Dolphins.
Miami signed Brandstater to a reserve/future contract in January. Miami is currently a good place to be if you're an unproven quarterback hoping to earn a spot on a 53-man roster, but the talent just isn't there for Brandstater.

Wed Jan 5 201115:10Dolphins sign Brandstater, Marten
Dolphins signed QB Tom Brandstater and OT James Marten to reserve/future contracts.
Both finished the season on Miami's practice squad. Brandstater, 26, doesn't project as more than a long-term No. 2, but the Fins need live arms for the offseason as they continue to evaluate a clearly problematic position.

Colts signed QB Tom Brandstater, DE John Chick, WR Brandon James, S Mike Newton, and WR Blair White to their practice squad.

Fri Jun 4 201012:01Broncos release QB Tom Brandstater
Broncos waived QB Tom Brandstater.
The writing was on the wall when Tim Tebow blew past him on the depth chart last week. Brandstater, last year's sixth-round pick, has decent tools and ideal size (6'5/220), but he was baredly a mediocre college quarterback at Fresno State. He'd still be worth a look for a QB-destitute team like the Bills.
