Wed Feb 23 201110:23Buckhalter a candidate for release
Correll Buckhalter's $1.92 million salary for 2011 has no guarantees.
Even with veteran-loving coach John Fox on board, Buckhalter is an obvious candidate for release at age 32 and coming off 2.5 yards per carry in 2010. Other Broncos veterans on the hot seat: FS Brian Dawkins ($6 million), DT Jamal Williams ($5 million), and SS Renaldo Hill ($2.4 million).

Sun Jan 2 201123:06Buckhalter catches four balls in Week 17 loss
Broncos RB Correll Buckhalter rushed three times for eight yards, and caught four balls for 49 yards in a Week 17 loss to San Diego.
Buckhalter played a complementary role on offense, although his 15-yard catch set up Eric Decker's first NFL touchdown. With Knowshon Moreno and Tim Tebow getting goal-line touches, the ten-year veteran merits little consideration for fantasy leagues barring an injury to Moreno.
Sun Dec 26 201019:13Buckhalter has two touchdowns off the bench
Correll Buckhalter came off the bench for 42 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and caught another three passes for 50 yards and an additional score in the Broncos' Week 16 win over Houston.
Knowshon Moreno (ribs) was ineffective in the first half before sitting out the final two quarters, so Buckhalter took over as the primary back ahead of Lance Ball (six touches). Frequently open over the middle, Buckhalter also did well to break open-field tackles against a Houston defense that tackles as poorly as many team in football. The 32-year-old may be the favorite in Denver's backfield for touches in Week 17 against San Diego.
Sun Nov 14 201021:31Correll Buckhalter plays in 2-minute drill
Correll Buckhalter played only in the two-minute drill during the Broncos' Week 10 game against Kansas City.
Knowshon Moreno is clearly the Broncos' every-down back. Buckhalter finished with two receptions for nine yards. The declining 32-year-old is ahead of Lance Ball and Laurence Maroney on the depth chart, but isn't worth a spot in any fantasy leagues. He's not even a good handcuff for Moreno.
Sun Oct 24 201021:48Correll Buckhalter doesn't play a snap
Correll Buckhalter was active did not play a single snap in the Broncos' Week 7 blowout loss to the Raiders.
Neither did Laurence Maroney, with Knowshon Moreno (17 touches) operating as the Broncos' every-down back. Game flow probably had something to do with it in the 59-14 drubbing, but Buckhalter certainly hasn't earned expanded playing time by averaging 2.2 yards per carry. Maroney has been even worse.
Sun Oct 10 201016:22Buck does nothing vs. Ravens
Correll Buckhalter rushed five times for 13 yards and added one catch for 12 yards in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Buckhalter is just as inept as Laurence Maroney at this point. He'll be lucky to stick as the No. 2 back once Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) gets healthy. Feel free to drop Buckhalter.
Sun Oct 3 201017:49Buckhalter finds end zone, does little else
Correll Buckhalter rushed just six times for 3 yards and caught five passes for 38 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Titans.
Buckhalter saw the bulk of his time on third down and did a nice job catching the ball out of the backfield, but failed to do anything with his six ground touches. The Titans square off against the Ravens Week 5, so stay away from Buckhalter.
Sun Sep 26 201020:43Buckhalter ineffective, totals only 45 yards
Correll Buckhalter rushed just four times for 12 yards and caught six passes for 33 yards in Sunday's 27-13 loss to Indianapolis.
Buckhalter had six targets in the passing game, but played sparingly aside from 3rd down with Laurence Maroney handling the bulk of the touches on the ground. Look for a similar breakdown Week 4 against the Titans if Knowshon Moreno can't play, as both backs were unable to seize the starting job in Moreno's absence.
Fri Sep 24 201014:24McDaniels calls Buckhalter an option
Updating previous items, coach Josh McDaniels did mention Correll Buckhalter at Friday's press conference as one of the Broncos' running back options with Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) out.
The Broncos don't view Buckhalter as more than a change of pace back, however, so it's hard to imagine the 32-year-old being thrust into a featured role after averaging 2.0 yards per carry in the first two games. Laurence Maroney does have a history of "carrying the load" in a McDaniels offense. We strongly suspect Maroney will lead the team in touches against the Colts.

Sun Sep 19 201019:10Buckhalter manages 19 yards, TD in win
Correll Buckhalter rushed 11 times for 19 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-14 victory over the Seahawks.
Buckhalter should not be owned in any format, as Laurence Maroney should be active for the Broncos from now on.
Wed Sep 15 201012:21Buck being phased out
Beat writer Mike Klis says "it's possible that within a week or two, the Broncos will have a tailback rotation of [Knowshon] Moreno and [Laurence] Maroney."
Correll Buckhalter is getting close to the end of the line. He'll be 32 in October and has battled through a myriad of knee issues during his career. Maroney is the new handcuff to Moreno and Buckhalter belongs on waivers. Once healthy, look for Maroney to be used for a fistful of change-of-pace carries weekly.

Thu Sep 2 201022:09Correll Buckhalter has 29 total yards
Correll Buckhalter had just three yards on three carries, but 26 yards on two catches in Denver's preseason finale.
Buckhalter was used sparingly, but proved his health on a 15-yard swing early. He's on track to open the year in a committee with Knowshon Moreno, who didn't play Thursday night but is fully expected to start Denver's opener.
Thu Sep 2 201010:46Buck expected to get first preseason carries
Correll Buckhalter (back) is expected to get his first carries of the preseason in tonight's finale.
While Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) is only considered 80 percent right now, Buckhalter is ready to go. He's extremely injury prone in his own right at age 31, but he's a must-own right now as a handcuff.

Tue Aug 24 201015:50Buckhalter back on practice field
Correll Buckhalter (back) returned to Broncos practice on Tuesday, as expected.
Buckhalter missed Denver's first two preseason games, but should be ready for the third. He remains the heavy favorite to be Knowshon Moreno's change of pace complement this season, with Lance Ball and Justin Fargas behind them.

Tue Aug 17 201018:19Buckhalter unlikely to play Saturday
Correll Buckhalter (back) is unlikely to play in the Broncos' second preseason game Saturday.
The team had been shooting for Buckhalter to be ready for the game, but he still isn't practicing since experiencing a setback with his back injury. It's possible he will return to practice at some point later this week, though, so we expect him to be fine once the regular season rolls around so long as he doesn't have another setback.

Thu Aug 12 201023:06Buckhalter expected back next week
The Broncos expect to have Correll Buckhalter back from his neck/back injury by the second preseason game.
Buckhalter was heading to see a specialist earlier in the week, so he must have received a positive review. Knowshon Moreno is expected be back within a week of Buckhalter. Things should begin looking up in the Broncos backfield by the third preseason game after the dire straits of the past two weeks.

Mon Aug 9 201014:33Buckhalter to see specialist for back injury
Correll Buckhalter is headed to see a specialist for his back/neck injury this week.
Buckhalter returned to practice last week, but it appears that he may have suffered a setback. It's certainly not good news that he has to visit a specialist for an injury to his neck and back. The Post speculates that Buckhalter could be dealing with a disc or nerve injury in his spine. The Broncos have no legitimate depth at tailback right now.

Sun Aug 1 201021:26Buckhalter expected back in about a week
Correll Buckhalter (back) is expected to resume practicing in roughly a week.
The Denver Post confirms that Buckhalter sustained trauma in his back and spine areas, causing Sunday's numbness. Doctors don't believe it's a long-term issue. Look for Buckhalter to be 100 percent by the start of preseason.

Sun Aug 1 201015:13Buckhalter has 'upper-back pull'
Broncos RB Correll Buckhalter's injury is being described as an "upper-back pull," and is not thought to be serious.
The Broncos got a scare when Buckhalter experienced temporary numbness after the injury, but he's OK. With Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) possibly out several weeks, Buckhalter will work with the first-team offense upon return.
