Sun Oct 11 201511:43Eddie Royal: Sidelined for Week 5 with ankle injury
Royal (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Royal's status heading into Sunday was on shaky ground after he failed to practice this week, and it appears he wasn't able to progress enough over the weekend to give it a go in Week 5. While he hasn't been a standout performer this season, Royal was likely in line to see a heavy volume of targets with Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) still sidelined. Instead, the Bears will be without both of their top receivers, leaving Marquess Wilson and the relatively unproven Josh Bellamy as the Bears' starting wideouts.

Royal (ankle) did not practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Kansas City, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
With both Royal and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) looking no better than 50-50 to play, the Chicago wideout group may be led by Marquess Wilson and Josh Bellamy. Someone obviously has to get targets, but the Bears may just funnel even more touches in the direction of Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte. It will be surprising if decisions on Royal and Jeffery are announced before Sunday morning.
Thu Oct 8 201515:22Royal (ankle) missed practice again Thursday
Royal (ankle) missed practice again Thursday, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Royal hasn't practiced this week due to an ankle injury, leaving only one day to show off his Week 5 viability. If he makes an appearance Sunday against the Chiefs, he may have to contend with Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) for targets for the first time since the season opener.
Wed Oct 7 201519:53Eddie Royal: Doesn't practice due to ankle issue
Royal didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle issue, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Royal has gathered in 18 of the 26 passes thrown in his direction, but only one catch has surpassed 20 yards, leaving him with an uninspiring 6.67 YPC this season. Fortunately, he salvaged Week 4 by reaching the end zone for the first time as a Bear, which may be a sign to come as he continues to renew his rapport with Jay Cutler (hamstring). First and foremost, though, Royal's status could remain murky if he's unable to take part in practice this week.

Royal hauled in seven passes on 10 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over Oakland.
Through the season's first quarter, Royal ranks second on the team with 26 targets and 18 receptions. Though it is difficult to read too much into the statistics for any of Chicago's receivers until Alshon Jeffery is healthy, history may be on Royal's side. Royal and quarterback Jay Cutler are a long, lost battery that connected to the tune of 91 receptions for 980 yards in Royal's rookie season in 2008. Though a repeat of those numbers is probably unrealistic, Royal can be expected to provide the oft-duressed Cutler some familiar comfort.

Royal had just three catches on three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss at Seattle.
Royal didn't do much, but backup QB Jimmy Clausen really struggled, completing just 9-of-17 pass attempts for 63 yards. The veteran WR has been unproductive through three games, so he'll look to get on track in Week 4 against a soft Raiders' secondary.
Sun Sep 27 201515:11Royal (hip/back) active for Sunday's game at Seattle
Royal (hip/back) is active for Sunday's game at Seattle, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Royal will attempt to take advantage of a receiving corps without Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) but with Jay Cutler (hamstring) also out, the Bears' offense will instead be directed by Jimmy Clausen. As a result, Royal could have difficulty finding much free space against the Seahawks' Legion of Boom.
Fri Sep 25 201513:10Royal (hip/back) questionable for Sunday's game in Seattle
Royal (hip/back) is questionable for Sunday's game in Seattle, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
If he plays, Royal could get some extra targets due to Alshon Jeffery's (hamstring) absence, but the passes would be coming from Jimmy Clausen rather than Jay Cutler (hamstring). Even with the expectation of some added work, it's a tough matchup for Royal and the rest of the Chicago offense.
Thu Sep 24 201515:28Royal (hip) limited in practice Thursday
Royal (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
After a no-show Wednesday, Royal has experienced an uptick in activity level, which serves him well in advance of Sunday's game at Seattle. Aiding his value is the continued absence of Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) from drills, but an intact secondary awaits following the end of Kam Chancellor's holdout. No matter the state of the opposition, the Bears' pecking order at receiver should be clarified as the week draws to a close.

Royal (hip/back) didn't practice Wednesday.
The Bears' wide receiver corps has been beset by injury in the opening weeks of the season. Among them is Royal, who is dealing with hip and back concerns. With Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) also sidelined Wednesday, and Marquess Wilson (shoulder) limited, likely quarterback Jimmy Clausen may have only fringe wideouts at his disposal Sunday at Seattle. However, Royal's status could receive clarification by the end of the week.

Royal had a team-high seven catches on eight targets for 41 yards Sunday against the Cardinals.
Royal led the Bears in targets as well, though Joshua Bellamy, Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte all had more receiving yards. Starting quarterback Jay Cutler was knocked out of the game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury, which left Royal to catch passes from backup Jimmy Clausen, who struggled for most of the game. If Cutler has to miss any time, Clausen is expected to start Week 3 against the Seahawks, which likely puts Royal in a tough spot for fantasy purposes.
Wed Sep 16 201516:31Royal (hip/head) wasn't listed on Bears' injury report Wednesday
Royal (hip/head) wasn't listed on the Bears' injury report Wednesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Royal's availability in Week 1 was in question due to a hip issue, but after suiting up, he left Sunday's game briefly to be evaluated for a concussion. However, neither ailment was serious enough to reduce his reps in the first practice of this week. Look for him to bounce back from a dismal one-catch showing in the opener.

Royal (hip) was evaluated for a concussion but later returned to Sunday's game against the Packers, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He finished with one catch on five targets for eight yards.
Royal was questionable to play because of a hip injury, and while that didn't seem to be an issue Sunday, he took a hit to the head, which prompted the concussion evaluation. He was able to walk off the field under his own power, though he had to stop and kneel down while walking to the locker room. Assuming he shows no concussion symptoms during the week, Royal should be fine for Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Sun Sep 13 201511:43Royal (hip) active for Sunday's contest against Packers
Royal (hip) is active for Sunday's contest against the Packers, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Royal, Alshon Jeffery (calf), and Marquess Wilson (hamstring) all entered the weekend with questionable availability, but the trio will buck their respective ailments and suit up in Week 1. As a rookie in 2008, Royal posted his best all-around season with Jay Cutler under center in Denver -- 91 catches for 980 yards and five touchdowns -- which they'll aim to reproduce in the Windy City.
Sun Sep 13 201507:13Royal (hip) expected to play Sunday against Packers
Royal (hip) is expected to play Sunday against the Packers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Both Royal and Alshon Jeffrey are expected to play despite being listed as questionable on the injury report, according to Schefter. Assuming both suit up, which seems a likely scenario, the duo should be in line for a decent amount of targets in the Chicago offense Sunday.

Royal (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's regular season opener against the Packers, the Chicago Tribune reports.
As are fellow wideouts Alshon Jeffery and Marquess Wilson, with Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune relaying that coach John Fox has expressed optimism about about the trio's Week 1 status. In any case, with the Bears kicking off at 1:00 ET on Sunday, Royal's availability will be clarified prior to the first wave of kickoffs this weekend. Assuming both he and Jeffery suit up, which seems a likely scenario, the duo should be in line for a decent amount of targets in the Chicago offense Sunday.

Royal (hip) was once again a limited participant in Thursday's practice, ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson reports.
It's generally expected that Royal will be ready to play by the time Sunday rolls around, but fantasy owners planning on using the wideout should have other options queued up in the event he fails to progress as anticipated. All three of the Bears' top receivers have been limited during the first two days of practice, but that may just be for precautionary purposes at this point.

Royal (hip) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
The Bears' injured trio of wide receivers -- also, Alshon Jeffery (calf) and Marquess Wilson (hamstring) -- all fit in limited practices. Jeffery's participation implies that he's in line to play in Week 1, as long as he makes the requisite level of progress, but his presence also puts a damper on Royal's potential to act as the No. 1 wideout Sunday versus the Packers.
Mon Sep 7 201514:19Royal (hip) participated in Monday's practice
Royal (hip) participated in Monday's practice, ESPN.com reports.
As did fellow wideout Marquess Wilson, which is more than can be said of Alshon Jeffery, who continues to nurse a calf injury. In any case, barring any further injury setbacks, Royal is poised to play a key part in the Bears' passing offense in 2015 in the wake of Kevin White's injury woes, perhaps more so early on, in the event that Jeffery is limited (or even out) for the team's season opener.
Sat Sep 5 201510:48Royal (hip) appears to be making significant progress
Royal (hip) appears to be making significant progress, according to ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson.
Both Royal and Marquess Wilson (hamstring) returned to practice this week, putting them in good shape to suit up against the Packers in Week 1. The bigger question pertains to star wideout Alshon Jeffery (calf), who still hasn't returned to practice and is clearly behind his teammates in the recovery process. Already primed for a key role that likely includes significant playing time in two-wide sets, Royal will really be busy if Jeffery misses time.
