Holliday was released by the Raiders on Tuesday, CSN Bay Area reports.

Holliday made a run at the Raiders' return job, but once it was determined that he would not open the season in that role, the Raiders decided to cut him loose. He could latch on with another team looking for help in the return game.

Holliday was activated from the Raiders' PUP list on Monday, RaidersBeat.com's Steve Corkran reports.

Holliday marked his Raiders training camp debut Monday by fielding kicks, which has always been his NFL calling card. After bouncing around the league lately, the world-class speedster will hope to lock down a roster spot in Oakland this upcoming season.
