Maneri was released by the Jets on Tuesday.

With injuries compromising the Jets' depth at outside linebacker, a roster spot was needed at that position, resulting in Maneri's corresponding release. The Jets added Maneri to their roster in June after Zach Sudfeld was placed on IR, but the 6-foot-7 tight end didn't do enough to distinguish himself in the early part of training camp.

Maneri has been released by the Patriots, ESPN.com reports.

Maneri is a candidate to resurface as a depth tight end, though his fantasy value is limited, given that he earns most of his keep as a blocker.

Maneri -- who spent time with the Patriots during the 2010 season -- will try to stick with the team as a depth tight end, but he's more of a blocker than a pass-catching threat, in any case.
