Once he begins practicing, the Cowboys will have three weeks to decide whether to add him to the 53-man roster or not. Okoye hasn't played in a game since December 2012 after surviving a battle with a rare brain condition, but he could add some more depth at defensive tackle coming out of the Cowboys' bye week.

He's currently doing conditioning work and getting back to his playing weight after surviving a serious and rare brain condition that required him to be placed in a medically-induced coma. It's been almost two years since Okoye played in a game, however, so don't expect him to make any kind of immediate impact once he gets into the lineup.

Okoye (illness) could begin practicing with the Cowboys as soon as Monday, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Details are finally surfacing about Okoye's illness, an extremely rare and potentially fatal auto-immune disorder that causes brain inflammation, and given what Okoye's been through over the past 17 months it's amazing that he's even close to a return to the field. The Cowboys will understandably be very cautious with Okoye, but it's beginning to look like he will have a role on their defensive line this season.

Bucs DT Amobi Okoye's knee has continued to be a problem throughout training camp despite his June scope.
"It's not just one surgery," said coach Greg Schiano. "He has a history with that knee." Okoye has missed the Bucs' last two preseason games and practiced sparingly. Tampa Bay's interior defensive line is going to be a major weakness again this year. They'll be a running game to target in fantasy matchups.

Okoye spent Wednesday on active/PUP, then was activated Thursday and practiced fully on Friday. The Bucs view Okoye as primarily a three-technique tackle, backing up Gerald McCoy. Roy Miller and Gary Gibson will compete at nose tackle.

It was merely a simple scope. Okoye is absent from Tuesday's practice, but coach Greg Schiano expects him to return as early as Wednesday. Expected to be a rotational lineman this season, Okoye should be back to full health for training camp.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers' interest in free agent DT Amobi Okoye is "mutual."
The Times confirms Okoye is also receiving interest from the Broncos and Bengals, although the Buccaneers could offer him significant playing time in a three-man rotation. Usual third DT Roy Miller is coming off a poor year. Okoye could be the top reserve behind Gerald McCoy and Brian Price.

The Bengals have scheduled a meeting with free agent DT Amobi Okoye.
Okoye could spell three-technique tackle Geno Atkins in Cincinnati. The free agent visit will take place after this week's Owners Meetings. Okoye, who's still only 24, tallied four sacks in 16 appearances with the Bears last season.
