Tue Aug 26 201414:34Edwards released by Raiders on Tuesday
Edwards was released by the Raiders on Tuesday, Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times reports.
Edwards competed against Matt McGloin for the Raiders' third quarterback job, but he ended up on the wrong side of the battle, and is back on the free agent market.
Thu Jan 2 201417:04Trent Edwards signs reserve/future deal
Raiders signed QB Trent Edwards, DL David Carter and DT Torell Troup to reserve/future contracts.
The signing says as much about the state of Edwards' career as it does the Raiders' roster. Released by the Bears in training camp, Edwards has attempted just two passes over the past three seasons. We would say there's no chance he earns a roster spot next summer, but anything is possible for a team that signed LT Alex Barron in 2013.

Fri Aug 30 201311:40Bears release QB Trent Edwards
Bears released QB Trent Edwards.
The journeyman veteran lasted 12 days on the roster. It means the Bears are going with just Josh McCown behind Jay Cutler at quarterback. It's a dangerous strategy considering Cutler's injury history, but Edwards would have been a waste of a roster spot. He's a sub-replacement level NFL quarterback.

Sun Aug 18 201314:12Bears make roster moves
Bears signed QB Trent Edwards and waived WR Jerrell Jackson.
Jackson is a former UDFA out of Missouri. Edwards has been bouncing around the NFL since once being regarded as the Bills' quarterback of the future. Now 29 years old, Edwards is just a practice arm for the rest of Bears camp.

Wed Jun 5 201308:22Edwards, Palmer also working out for Bears
Free agents Trent Edwards and Jordan Palmer are joining JaMarcus Russell for Friday's workout with the Bears.
Russell has always had an impressive arm, but it will look like a missile launcher next to these two. Edwards beat out Mike Kafka for the Eagles' No. 3 job last year, but was released in April. Carson's little brother was on the street last season until Blaine Gabbert's injury led to a chance in Jacksonville.

Sat May 18 201311:13Jets interested in adding another QB to mix?
ESPN New York reports the Jets haven't "slammed the door shut" on adding another quarterback to replace David Garrard.
The free-agent market is barren, but one name that sticks out is Trent Edwards. Edwards was with new Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg in Philadelphia last season. Including the preseason, the 29-year-old completed over 68 percent of his passes and threw for four touchdowns. Edwards wouldn't be an option to start, but he knows the offense and could hold the clipboard for Geno Smith if the Jets are intent on dumping Mark Sanchez.

Eagles released QB Trent Edwards.
Edwards, 29, won the Eagles' No. 3 quarterback job last year after a fine preseason performance that saw him complete 67.5 percent of his passes for 489 yards and four touchdowns. Edwards has a career 75.5 quarterback rating over the course of six regular seasons, completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 6,033 yards, 26 scores, and 30 interceptions.

Fri Aug 31 201215:44Trent Edwards wins the No. 3 QB job
Trent Edwards has won the No. 3 quarterback job.
Mike Kafka opened training camp as the backup and ended it as a fourth-stringer on the trading block. Edwards won the job by completing 68 percent of his preseason passes and compiling a 100.5 passer rating. The Eagles will roll with three quarterbacks in part thanks to Michael Vick's recent injury woes.

Thu Aug 30 201223:42Trent Edwards states case for No. 3 job
Trent Edwards completed 22-of-32 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown to close out an impressive preseason against the Jets.
It's not like the Eagles to give up on any future trade value that Mike Kafka may possess, but Edwards has earned a roster spot. The veteran has completed 54-of-80 passes (68 percent) for 489 yards and a 100.5 passer rating. Of his 18 preseason possessions, 12 ended in a score or a field-goal attempt. If Edwards doesn't make the team, it's not because of anything that happened on the field in August.

Sat May 26 201210:45Kafka 'running away' with backup competition
According to the Courier-Post, Mike Kafka is "running away" with the Eagles' backup quarterback competition.
Per beat writer Geoff Mosher, Trent Edwards has struggled to make good throws "even in offense-only drills with no defense to obstruct him." Kafka, meanwhile, is said to be sporting a stronger arm after spending the offseason bulking up. With rookie Nick Foles locked in as the Eagles' No. 3 signal caller, Edwards might not last beyond the early days of camp.

Tue Apr 17 201212:01Trent Edwards 'bulked up' this offseason
Eagles QB Trent Edwards has "bulked up" this offseason, adding at least 10 pounds of (presumably) muscle.
It's surely an effort on the injury prone former third-round pick's part to make himself more durable, but 10 pounds of muscle is not the only thing that's been standing between Edwards and greatness. Depending on what the Eagles do in the draft, Edwards will either push Mike Kafka to be Michael Vick's backup or third stringer.

Wed Feb 1 201207:35Trent Edwards visits Eagles on Tuesday
Free agent QB Trent Edwards visited the Eagles on Tuesday.
Edwards worked out for the Eagles two weeks ago; now he's taking a physical. A signing is likely imminent, though Edwards would still need to turn heads in training camp to make the 2012 roster.

Wed Jan 18 201208:41Report: Eagles worked out Trent Edwards
Eagles worked out free agent QB Trent Edwards.
Edwards was out of the league for the entire 2011 season. The Raiders cut him coming out of training camp, and Edwards turned down an offer to join the Dolphins after Chad Henne's season-ending shoulder injury in October. The Eagles are looking for a veteran backup to Michael Vick. They can do better than Edwards.

Fri Oct 7 201112:12Report: Trent Edwards turned down Dolphins
Free agent QB Trent Edwards reportedly turned down an offer from the Dolphins this week.
Edwards was offered a deal after Tuesday's workout, but he turned it down because he didn't want to play for the Dolphins. Unlike the situation with David Garrard, money was not a factor. From what we've seen of Miami's front office, it's hard to blame Edwards. The Dolphins did end up with a better backup in Sage Rosenfels.

Tue Oct 4 201121:34Dolphins work out QBs Edwards, Croyle
The Dolphins worked out free agent QBs Trent Edwards and Brodie Croyle on Tuesday.
The Fins are also in discussions with David Garrard and Jake Delhomme, as they seek insurance for Chad Henne's shoulder injury. If Henne's injury isn't season-ending, Garrard and Delhomme won't be options. Edwards and Croyle would be candidates to work in a backup role for a few weeks under that scenario.
