Fri May 2 201411:28David Carr: Browns have interest in bro duo
Free agent QB David Carr says the Browns are one of "about six or seven teams" that have expressed interest in him should the team draft his brother, Fresno State QB Derek Carr.
Browns OC Kyle Shanahan was the wide receivers coach in David's final season with the Texans in 2006, so he knows the offense particularly well. Hooking up with a team that drafts Derek seems to be David's best shot at landing an NFL job for at least the summer. David was out of the league in 2013.

Tue Apr 15 201409:25Ravens could be interested in QB David Carr
The Baltimore Sun thinks the Ravens could be interested in free agent QB David Carr.
Carr is hoping to land a gig as a backup prior to May's draft. He has experience in new Ravens OC Gary Kubiak's offense from their brief time together in Houston. Baltimore hasn't been shy about wanting Tyrod Taylor to take the next step behind Joe Flacco. The Ravens went after Brandon Weeden in March.

Wed Apr 9 201411:25David Carr hoping to sign before the draft
Free agent QB David Carr is hoping to sign before May's draft.
There's been some chatter that David will sign with whichever team drafts younger brother Derek Carr as a mentor. ESPN's Adam Schefter says there's nothing to that. David Carr is 35 years old and was out of the league last year, so he's not going to picky about any opportunities.

Fri Mar 7 201410:33David and Derek Carr a package deal?
Fresno State QB Derek Carr said "there are teams thinking about" signing free agent QB David Carr if they draft Derek.
"There's so much positive things about having us both on the same team, that I don't know why somebody wouldn't think about it," Derek said. "And the truth is there are teams thinking about it, because they've been letting us know about it." The brothers have been working out with ex-Giants QBs coach Mike Sullivan to prepare Derek for the draft and try to get David back in the NFL.

Fri Feb 28 201414:10Free agent David Carr on comeback trail
Free agent QB David Carr is attempting to "resume" his NFL career this offseason, working with ex-Giants QBs coach Mike Sullivan.
Perhaps inspired by younger brother Derek entering the NFL as a potential early-round pick, Carr will train with his sibling and Sullivan before Fresno State's March Pro Day. David turns 35 in July and spent last year out of football. He did receive in-season tryouts from the Titans, Raiders, and Cowboys.

Mon Dec 23 201319:10Free agent QB David Carr to visit Cowboys
Free agent QB David Carr will visit the Cowboys on Tuesday.
With Tony Romo (back) done for the season, Kyle Orton needs a backup. Carr has been out of the league all season after he was part of the Giants' final cuts. He could make a few thousand bucks for a week's worth of work.

Sun Oct 6 201312:15Raiders flirting with David Carr
Free agent David Carr will go through a physical and tryout Sunday at the Raiders' facility.
Matt Flynn's abominable Week 4 performance has the Raiders on the lookout for a backup upgrade behind Terrelle Pryor. They like UDFA Matt McGloin, but couldn't afford to trust him for serious playing time were Pryor to suffer another injury. If the Raiders like what they see from 34-year-old Carr, it's entirely possible they'd throw in the towel on Flynn and release him. He can't play.

Mon Sep 30 201315:09Report: Titans to work out David Carr Tuesday
FOX Sports reports the Titans will work out free agent QB David Carr on Tuesday.
The Titans have just Ryan Fitzpatrick behind Jake Locker (hip, knee), so they're in the market for a veteran backup. They apparently won't be going the Rusty Smith route. Carr has attempted all of 61 passes since 2007. The Titans would be in major trouble if he got into a game.

Sat Aug 31 201317:48Giants release longtime backup QB David Carr
Giants released QB David Carr.
The Giants are going with Curtis Painter and rookie Ryan Nassib behind Eli Manning. The move comes six months after some outlets earnestly speculated that Carr might draw interest as a starter in free agency. The No. 1 pick of the 2002 draft, Carr hits the open market having attempted just 61 passes since 2007. Perhaps he'll draw interest as a third stringer.

Tue Mar 19 201314:35Giants bring back Carr to back up Eli Manning
Giants re-signed QB David Carr to a one-year contract.
The No. 1 pick of the 2002 draft is returning to back up Eli Manning for the fifth time in six years. Reports that Carr could draw interest as a starter turned out to be predictably absurd. Carr has attempted just 61 passes over the past five seasons.

Sat Mar 2 201314:23David Carr to the Buccaneers?
The New York Post suggests the Buccaneers as a landing spot for free agent QB David Carr.
It's easy to connect dots from ex-Giants to the Bucs because Tampa Bay's defensive and offensive coordinators are both formerly Giants assistants. Carr will turn 34 before the season. If the Buccaneers truly have designs on bringing in legitimate competition for Josh Freeman, they'll aim higher than David Carr.

Fri Mar 1 201313:54Giants letting David Carr hit open market
The Giants are expected to let free agent QB David Carr hit the open market.
ESPN New York reported last month that Carr was expected back as Eli Manning's backup, so it's a bit of a surprise. According to the New York Daily News, Carr wants to test his value, and "maybe see if he can battle for a job." We hope he's not holding his breath.

Mon Feb 4 201313:44David Carr likely to be back with Giants
ESPN New York expects free agent David Carr to return as Eli Manning's backup in 2013.
With Manning entering his age-32 season in 2013, the Giants could decide to take a late-round flier on a potential successor as early as this year, but Carr should remain in New York for at least one more season. He's served as Manning's backup four of the past five years. The No. 1 pick of the 2002 draft has attempted just 61 passes since 2007.

Giants re-signed QB David Carr to an undisclosed contract.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2002 draft talked with the Bucs on Tuesday, but will return to the team where he's spent three of the past four years as Eli Manning's backup. Carr did not attempt a pass in 2011, and has appeared in parts of just 16 games since the end of the 2006 season.

Wed Mar 14 201212:23Report: Carr, Bucs no longer an option
Free agent QB David Carr is reportedly no longer option in Tampa Bay.
Carr drew early interest Tuesday as a potential backup to Bucs starter Josh Freeman, but a signing isn't going to happen. He would have been following former QBs coach Mike Sullivan down to Tampa. Carr is expected to decide between the Giants and another interested team.

Sun Jul 31 201116:21David Carr heads back to Giants
Giants signed QB David Carr, formerly of the 49ers.
Carr's best NFL success came in preseason action and a few relief stints with the Giants from 2008-2009. He's not a better quarterback than Sage Rosenfels, though. The 32-year-old will likely be just the third quarterback in New York.

Wed Jul 27 201112:28Report: David Carr will be dumped Thursday
David Carr will be released Thursday, a source tells CSN Bay Area.
By releasing Carr, the Niners will clear up $2.375 million in cap room. If they are going to make a serious run at Nnamdi Asomugha, that will certainly help. The Niners are ready to roll with Alex Smith and rookie Colin Kaepernick at quarterback.

Mon Jul 18 201114:45David Carr not expected to make 49ers roster
49ers QB David Carr is not expected to be on the team's Opening Day roster.
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman recently suggested Carr could compete for the starting quarterback job, but that was obvious "coach-speak." Releasing Carr would take the 49ers off the hook for his $2.375 million salary. The Niners are expected to pursue a different veteran to push Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick.

Thu Jun 9 201123:23Carr told he can compete for starting job
David Carr has been told by the new 49ers coaching staff that he will be allowed to compete for the starting quarterback job.
"They told me they are going to roll the balls out there and the best player is going to play," Carr said. "I like that situation." It sounds fair in theory, but Carr has a better chance of getting released than starting Week 1. Coach Jim Harbaugh has gone out of his way to praise Alex Smith whereas he's yet to even mention Carr's name.
