Sun Sep 20 201511:57Ngata (shoulder) active for Sunday's game against Vikings
Ngata (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Ngata was only a limited participant in practice this week, but there never seemed to be any serious doubt about his availability for Sunday's game. The Lions will count on Ngata to clog Adrian Peterson's running lanes and be an anchor on the defensive line, which doesn't typically translate to much fantasy utility.
Mon Aug 31 201516:02Ngata (hamstring) removed from non-football injury list Monday
Ngata (hamstring) was removed from the non-football injury list Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Ngata picked up a hamstring injury earlier in the summer and has been sidelined throughout the preseason as a result. Before being activated, Ngata was already able to work out which suggests that a return for the season opener on Sept. 13 against the Chargers is a real possibility even though he just recently rejoined team practices.

Ngata (hamstring) ran before the Lions' preseason game against Jacksonville and head coach Jim Caldwell says he "looks good," Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Caldwell indicated that both Ngata and running back Joique Bell could be ready to play in the short term, unless they aren't. Caldwell added that both could also, conceivably, be on the sideline for the start of the season depending on how they progress. The fact that Ngata was running before Friday's game should be considered a positive step and, given his experience, he should be able to slide right into the starting lineup once he's healthy. A space eater in recent seasons in Baltimore, Ngata will be asked to attack more in the Lions' scheme.

Ngata (hamstring) got in some side work with trainers during Tuesday's practice, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Ngata's recovery had mostly been conducted behind closed doors until Tuesday. Though head coach Jim Caldwell expressed concern about Ngata's inability to practice, he did say Ngata's "return-to-play protocol is on time." While few are fluent in coach speak, one could feel comfortable putting two and two together to understand that Ngata should be ready to play right around the start of the season, but will likely have some rust to shake off early on. Once he gets going, he should see a spike in production as he will be asked to attack upfield more than he has in recent years in Baltimore.
Sun Aug 23 201521:42Ngata (hamstring) not sure bet to be available for Week 1
Ngata (hamstring) is not a sure bet to be available for Week 1, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The news is a bit of an about-face from prior reports where head coach Jim Caldwell expressed confidence that Ngata would be ready by the regular season. Ngata is being counted on to help replace the departed Ndamukong Suh and absorb blockers as Detroit's nose tackle this season. A veteran like Ngata should be able to step into the starting line up as soon as he's healthy. Tyrunn Walker and Caraun Reid have served as Detroit's starters for much of training camp ahead of journeyman Jermelle Cudjo and rookie Gabe Wright, however, it is worth noting that Reid is dealing with injuries of his own.
Mon Aug 10 201521:02Ngata (hamstring) expected to be ready for regular season
Ngata (hamstring) is expected to be ready for the regular season, David Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Head coach Jim Caldwell doesn't seem concerned about Ngata's injury, telling reporters that Ngata has made "very good progress." Brought on to replace the departed Ndamukong Suh, Ngata will be counted on by Detroit to both help generate an interior pass rush and occupy blockers, freeing up teammates.

Ngata (undisclosed) has been placed on the Lions' active/non-football-injury list in advance of Monday's start of training camp.
Ngata was traded to the Lions during the opening stages of free agency, as Detroit sought a ready-made replacement for departed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh this offseason. While the veteran Ngata won't be available for Day 1 of training camp Monday, he's eligible to return at any time and should help the Lions remain among the league's best run-stuffing teams this season.

The Ravens traded Ngata to the Lions on Tuesday in exchange for 2015 fourth- and fifth-round picks, The Baltimore Sun reports.
Ngata will head to Detroit to replace the departed Ndamukong Suh on the defensive line. A suspension limited Ngata to 12 games last season, but he remains one of the league's premier defensive linemen.
Tue Dec 30 201416:37Ngata returned to practice Tuesday
Ngata returned to practice Tuesday, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Ngata is eligible to resume playing this week after completing a four-game suspension. He should help beef up a run defense that uncustomarily gave up over 100 yards on the ground each of the last two weeks.

Ngata has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season for a violation of the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.
Ngata owned up to his mistake in an official statement, where he admitted to taking the drug Adderall, which is commonly used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder. The defensive lineman will sit for the next four games, but should see an opportunity to return if the team is able to clinch a playoff berth. Ngata is one of the better lineman from an IDP standpoint, collecting 32 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions so far in 2014. The Ravens will look to Timmy Jernigan or DeAngelo Tyson to see an increased role in his absence.

Ngata had eight tackles (five solo), a sack and a forced fumble in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Bengals.
Ngata's strip-sack of Andy Dalton was probably Baltimore's biggest play in the game, as the veteran lineman continues to impress in what can arguably be called a bounce-back season. After playing a bit below his high standards the last two years, Ngata is back to dominating opposing offensive linemen, albeit with little payoff from a statistical perspective. His two interceptions are fluky, while he still only has 23 tackles (14 solo) and the one sack through eight games.

Ngata is listed as the starting defensive tackle on the Ravens' initial depth chart, SB Nation's Jason Butt reports.
Ngata primarily worked as a nose tackle last season, but the Ravens presumably want him to slide back to his more natural defensive tackle position, which would leave Brandon Williams as the likely starter at the nose. While this is a positive development for Ngata's IDP value, he's still only worth a look in deeper leagues that distinguish between DEs and DTs.

Sat Mar 22 201414:43Ravens could move Ngata to defensive end
The Ravens are considering moving Haloti Ngata to defensive end.
The move would allow the Ravens to start Brandon Williams at nose tackle, with Ngata replacing Arthur Jones opposite Chris Canty. After playing through multiple injuries the last two seasons, Ngata could benefit from the switch to end. 30-year-old Ngata is scheduled to count $16 million against the cap in 2014 and remains a candidate to restructure.

Mon Feb 17 201418:16Ravens talks with NT Ngata went nowhere
The Baltimore Sun reports contract talks with NT Haloti Ngata went nowhere for the Ravens.
Ngata is scheduled to count a team-high $16 million against the 2014 salary cap and has two years left on his deal. The Ravens would ideally like to extend him like they did with Terrell Suggs in order to create space so they can re-sign free agents like Dennis Pitta, LT Eugene Monroe, and ILB Daryl Smith. Ngata just turned 30 years old and isn't going anywhere.

Wed Jan 29 201414:37Haloti Ngata a candidate for an extension
Ravens NT Haloti Ngata is scheduled to count a team-high $16 million against the 2014 salary cap.
Ngata has two years left on his five-year, $61 million deal and is a prime candidate for an extension in order to lower that astronomical cap hit. The 30-year-old didn't put up the sack numbers we'd grown accustomed to seeing the previous three seasons, but Ngata still graded out as a top-eight run defender in Pro Football Focus' end-of-season defensive tackle ratings.

Fri Nov 22 201313:10Haloti Ngata to be game-time decision
Coach John Harbaugh indicated NT Haloti Ngata (knee) will be a game-time decision for Week 12 against the Jets.
Ngata was inactive for Week 11, allowing Matt Forte to peel off 125 total yards and a touchdown against Baltimore while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. If Ngata does not play this week, it would be a matchup boost for Chris Ivory. We don't expect to know Ngata's availability before Sunday morning's inactives.
