Mon Aug 25 201410:47Dixon released by Bills as team pared down roster ahead of Tuesd...
Dixon has been released by the Bills as the team pared down the roster ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
The team isn't happy with its quarterback situation behind EJ Manuel, and Dixon had a very small window the past few weeks to step up to the No. 3 spot. However, he had problems holding onto the football Saturday against Tampa Bay, and with that may have flubbed away his final chance to make the team.
Tue Oct 8 201316:12Bills add journeyman Dixon to practice squad
Bills signed QB Dennis Dixon to the practice squad.
Dixon will serve as veteran taxi-squad insurance with the Bills going with unproven Thad Lewis in E.J. Manuel's (knee) absence. Dixon will be a candidate for promotion if Lewis face-plants and the Bills still don't trust Jeff Tuel.

Tue Oct 8 201311:14Bills signing Dennis Dixon to practice squad
The Bills are expected to sign free agent QB Dennis Dixon to their practice squad.
With E.J. Manuel (knee) sidelined, Dixon will be the No. 3 quarterback behind Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel. Because he was active for less than six games during his four-year career with the Steelers, Dixon still has practice squad eligibility.

Fri Aug 30 201313:21Dennis Dixon among Eagles' initial cut down
Eagles waived or released QB Dennis Dixon, DE Everette Brown, DT Antonio Dixon, DE David King, G.J. Kinne, OT Matt Kopa, CB Trevard Lindley (waived/injured), WR Ifeanyi Momah, WR Will Murphy, C Dallas Reynolds, LB Adrian Robinson and C Matt Tennant.
One of Chip Kelly's former college quarterbacks never elevated higher than the fourth-string, and was likely to survive this long. Dixon hasn't appeared in a game since 2010. A 2009 second-rounder, Everette Brown has appeared in just three games since 2010. Momah made some noise in OTAs, but struggled in camp.

Fri May 24 201314:13Dennis Dixon working as 4th-team QB at OTAs
Eagles QB Dennis Dixon is working as a fourth-teamer at OTAs.
Nick Foles and Michael Vick are rotating first-team reps, and rookie Matt Barkley has already leapfrogged Dixon. The Eagles will likely bring four QBs to camp, but won't keep that many on their 53. Dixon is facing an uphill battle.

Wed Feb 20 201315:56Dixon will earn max of $815,000 in 2013
Eagles QB Dennis Dixon's contract is worth a maximum of $815,000 in 2013.
Dixon's base salary is $715,000, while he could earn a $50,000 roster bonus on top of his $50,000 signing bonus if he makes the team. The low-ball numbers are confirmation Dixon isn't a serious candidate for the Eagles' starting job, despite his belief that he's heading into an open competition.

Mon Feb 18 201315:30Dennis Dixon: Eagles QB job is open
Eagles QB Dennis Dixon told the Philly Inquirer that it is "his understanding" the team will hold an open quarterback competition in camp.
Dixon says his college ACL tear "stunted" his development, and this is the opportunity he's been "waiting for." The Eagles have been tight lipped about their 2013 quarterback plans, saying only that competition will determine who plays and who doesn't play. We don't think Dixon will beat out Michael Vick, but it's not out of the realm of possibility if he stars in camp.

Thu Feb 14 201315:07Eagles add Dennis Dixon to quarterback fray
Eagles signed QB Dennis Dixon to a two-year contract.
Dixon to the Eagles has been in the works since the Super Bowl ended. He spent the season on the Ravens practice squad, and that contract ended on Monday. Philadelphia had already reached out to Dixon, and he'll be reuniting with his college coach Chip Kelly. He's likely not a candidate to start, but the Eagles are Dixon's best chance at 53-man roster spot while he helps the other quarterbacks learn the offense.

Wed Feb 6 201318:07Eagles eligible to sign Dennis Dixon Monday
The Eagles will be eligible to sign Ravens practice squad QB Dennis Dixon on Monday.
The Eagles are allowed to talk to Dixon - which they have done - but teams have exclusive rights to their practice squad players for one week following the conclusion of their season. However, Dixon will be free to sign with whomever he wants beginning Monday, regardless of whether the Ravens offer him a contract. He's widely expected to end up in Philadelphia.

Tue Feb 5 201315:53Eagles have reached out to Dennis Dixon
CSN Philly's Geoff Mosher reports the Eagles have "reached out" to Ravens practice squad QB Dennis Dixon, and they are in the "talking stage."
ProFootballTalk first brought up the possibility of Dixon rendezvousing with Chip Kelly in Philadlephia, and Mosher recently said there were "strong indications" the Eagles would pursue the former Oregon star. It's highly unlikely Dixon would be an option as the team's starter, but it would certainly be his best chance at a 53-man roster spot.

Wed Jan 30 201314:47Report: 'Strong indications' PHI eyeing Dixon
CSN Philly reports there are "strong indications" the Eagles will pursue Ravens practice squad QB Dennis Dixon after the Super Bowl.
According to beat writer Geoff Mosher, "all signs point to" Chip Kelly pushing hard for one of his college quarterbacks. Mosher believes Dixon could be an Eagle "by next week." A Heisman trophy candidate before tearing his ACL his senior year at Oregon, Dixon has made just four career appearances in five NFL seasons, but knows Kelly's offense as well as anyone. It's extremely doubtful Dixon would be in play for the Eagles' starting job, but he'd have a good shot at a roster spot after spending 2012 on the practice squad.

Thu Jan 24 201322:09Dixon an option in Philadelphia as QB?
Profootballtalk suggests Ravens practice squad QB Dennis Dixon could end up in Philadelphia next season with his college head coach Chip Kelly.
PFT is simply connecting the dots here, but it's a logical option. Dixon has been running the scout team in Ravens practice as the team prepares for Colin Kaepernick in the Super Bowl. Dixon played for Kelly at Oregon and was a Heisman candidate in his 2007 senior season before a torn ACL ended that run. Dixon passed for 2,136 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding 583 yards and nine more scores on the ground that year. He hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2010 with the Steelers.

Wed Nov 7 201213:18Ravens give up on QB Dennis Dixon
Ravens cut QB Dennis Dixon from their practice squad.
It's a poor sign for the 2008 fifth-round pick's future. Dixon hasn't appeared in a game since 2010, and has attempted just 59 career passes. It would appear the book on the former Oregon star is that he isn't a viable No. 3 quarterback.

Sun Sep 2 201213:31Ravens sign Dixon to their practice squad
Ravens signed QB Dennis Dixon to their practice squad.
Dixon hasn't been on an NFL roster since the end of last season, when he was imitating Tim Tebow on the Steelers' scout team. Now 26 years old, Dixon will function as the Ravens' third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Tyrod Taylor.

Thu Aug 23 201217:45Dennis Dixon considering UFL offer
Free agent QB Dennis Dixon is reportedly contemplating an offer to join the UFL's Sacramento Lions.
Dixon received cursory interest from the Rams, Ravens and Broncos early in the offseason. It always seemed like a red flag that neither the Steelers nor Dixon's former coordinator Bruce Arians in Indianapolis had interest in his services. He hasn't been held in high regard in Pittsburgh since demanding a trade last summer.

Fri Apr 13 201217:23Ravens showing interest in Dennis Dixon
In addition to the Rams and Broncos, the Ravens have reportedly shown interest in free agent QB Dennis Dixon.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Rams "remain interested" in Dixon after he threw passes to Jerricho Cotchery in a workout last week. He'd have to beat out Tom Brandstater for St. Louis' backup job, and Tyrod Taylor in Baltimore.

Wed Apr 4 201211:16Report: Dixon to throw to Cotchery for Rams
Free agent QB Dennis Dixon will reportedly throw to Jerricho Cotchery in Wednesday's workout with the Rams.
Outside of a late-March visit to Denver, Dixon has received surprisingly little interest as a possible No. 2 quarterback. The Rams do have a vacancy behind Sam Bradford.

Sun Mar 25 201217:22Dixon meeting with Broncos
Free agent QB Dennis Dixon is visiting with the Broncos.
Denver signed Caleb Hanie to a two-year contract on Saturday, but Dixon would give him much-needed competition for the No. 2 job behind Peyton Manning. Hanie is more of a pocket quarterback like Manning, while Dixon has the ability to make plays with his legs. Even if Dixon is signed, Denver could still look to draft a young arm in April's draft.

Fri Feb 24 201212:25Dennis Dixon to look elsewhere in free agency
Steelers GM Kevin Colbert confirmed that QB Dennis Dixon will "look elsewhere" in free agency.
"I anticipate Dennis will have a lot of interest around the league," Colbert added. "I don't think the league has seen the best of Dennis Dixon, only because he's behind a great quarterback and he's been held back by some injuries." Colbert hopes to re-sign Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch instead of Dixon, who wants a No. 2 job.
