Tue Feb 18 201415:45Free agent S Kerry Rhodes wants to play
Free agent S Kerry Rhodes says he hasn't retired and wants to play in 2014.
"Every option for me is open, I haven't retired," said Rhodes. "I still love football and it's still a part of me. That's not closed. But I'm not going to go into a situation where it's not beneficial to myself." Rhodes spent the 2013 season out of the league acting in a comedy series and focusing on a production company. There was some belief he was blacklisted by the NFL because of the rumors Rhodes was gay, but Rhodes doesn't feel that way. Rhodes is 31 years old.

Tue Sep 17 201315:37Kerry Rhodes works out for Giants Tuesday
Free agent S Kerry Rhodes worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.
It's Rhodes' first known visit since April. Although he's on the wrong side of 30, Rhodes was one of the top safeties in all of football last season, and would fill a major need for the G-Men. For now, however, beat writer Ohm Youngmisuk believes the visit was mostly a looksee.

Fri Sep 13 201321:37Cardinals wanted to re-sign S Rhodes
According to XTRA 910 Phoenix's Mike Jurecki, free agent FS Kerry Rhodes turned down a one-year, $3 million contract offer from the Cardinals.
In other words, there has been interest from NFL teams in Rhodes; it just isn't mutual. Rhodes could be helping a football team right now, but he seems intent on continuing his life away from the gridiron. Long a high-quality on-field performer, it's worth noting Rhodes was often dogged by questions about his passion for the game, particularly early in his career with the Jets.

Fri Sep 13 201310:56Free agent S Rhodes generating zero interest
Free agent S Kerry Rhodes has generated zero interest since being released by the Cardinals in March.
This comes from Profootballtalk's Mike Florio, who was told by a source that "there's no buzz" surrounding Rhodes. Rhodes, 31, had a heckuva year with Arizona last season, starting 15 games and racking up 67 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and four interceptions while grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 4 safety. It's borderline criminal that he's not on an NFL roster.

Tue Jul 23 201321:13Browns not interested in FS Rhodes 'for now'
The Akron Beacon-Journal reports the Browns don't expect to sign free agent S Kerry Rhodes "for now."
Rhodes was released by the Cardinals this offseason and has yet to sign with a team, but the Browns are content to go into training camp with Johnson Bademosi and Tashaun Gipson at free safety. "Right now, we're committed to our roster," DC Ray Horton said. "We talk about injuries, attrition and we make sure we have a backup plan. He's one of the players that's on the street."

Thu Jul 11 201320:14FS Rhodes getting interest from four teams?
Free Agent safety Kerry Rhodes claims he's considering four teams to sign with.
Rhodes, 30, says discussions are "in the works," and added there are "a good four teams," he's considering signing with. After receiving virtually zero interest up to this point in free agency, it's difficult to believe Rhodes has four teams vying for his services. He's coming off a solid 2012 campaign, where he graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 4 overall safety.

Sat May 25 201322:26Browns not expected to pursue FS Rhodes
The Browns are not expected to pursue free agent FS Kerry Rhodes.
Rhodes has struggled to attract interest since his release from the Cardinals this offseason and may have to settle for a veteran minimum deal. He played for DC Ray Horton the past two seasons, but the Browns are prepared to go forward with young safeties Tashaun Gipson and Johnson Bademosi.

Mon May 13 201315:28Browns not pursuing Kerry Rhodes (yet)
Browns GM Mike Lombardi indicated the Browns are not pursuing free agent FS Kerry Rhodes at this time.
The Browns have a free safety need and Rhodes played for new DC Ray Horton the past two seasons, so the connection is logical on the surface. But Cleveland isn't rushing in. "He's a name out there," Lombardi said of Rhodes. "... Right now, we're focusing on the Cleveland Brown players and seeing where we are."

Wed Apr 10 201310:36Bengals host Kerry Rhodes
The Bengals hosted S Kerry Rhodes for a free-agent visit on Monday.
It'd be a smart signing by the Bengals, although we suspect they won't or didn't offer more than a minimum-salary deal. That's how they do business. Rhodes remains in free-agency limbo. He is a classic center-field safety and should find a new home by May. We're surprised the Browns haven't pursued him yet.

Sun Apr 7 201315:45Ray Horton is fond of free agent Kerry Rhodes
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton thinks "very highly" of free agent FS Kerry Rhodes.
Rhodes is still only 30 and playing at a high level, and he'd be an awfully logical fit in Cleveland. The Browns need a free safety and Rhodes knows the scheme. Whether GM Mike Lombardi thinks highly of Rhodes remains to be seen, as he's been available on the free-agent market since his March 13 Cardinals release.

Sat Apr 6 201320:48Browns could have interest in Kerry Rhodes
ESPN Cleveland says the Browns could have interest in free agent FS Kerry Rhodes.
Rhodes has struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons and would only be considered on a one-year deal. He has experience in DC Ray Horton's system and could be a fallback option if the Browns fail to land a safety in the draft.

Wed Mar 13 201317:08Cardinals parting ways with FS Kerry Rhodes
Cardinals released FS Kerry Rhodes.
The move saves Arizona $6 million against the cap. Rhodes was entering the final year of his deal. In December, the two sides were even talking about a two-year extension. Rhodes had a phenomenal season in 2012, as he was stout versus the run and in coverage. However, he turns 31 years old in August, and the veteran purge around the league continues. It's a buyer's market for defensive backs.

Mike Jurecki of XTRA Phoenix reports that the Cardinals are discussing a two-year contract extension with FS Kerry Rhodes.
Rhodes is on the Cardinals' books through 2013, but it's a voidable year and the terms of the void season are unclear. Rhodes, 30, has been a difference maker in Arizona when healthy the past three seasons. He's started 13 games in 2012, collecting four interceptions and forcing two fumbles with 11 pass breakups.
