Miami claimed McDonald off waivers from Tampa Bay just three days ago. The Fins also added Bryan McCann to their cornerback depth this past week. McDonald will hit the street but should be able to latch on elsewhere in due time.

Dolphins claimed CB Brandon McDonald off waivers from Tampa Bay.
Miami signed the journeyman CB after placing Richard Marshall on injured reserve. McDonald has 21 total tackles and an interception in six games for the Buccaneers, but was waived yesterday. He's currently ranked as the No. 91 cornerback for the season at Pro Football Focus.

It's purely a desperation move as the Lions' secondary has been ravaged by injury. The Lions waived McDonald three weeks ago. He'll be insurance behind Chris Houston (knee), Aaron Berry (shoulder) and Don Carey (concussion). Philip Rivers and the Chargers' passing game has another tasty matchup this week.

The sides may have to reach an injury settlement, as McDonald is recovering from a Thanksgiving Day knee injury. He played in 11 games as a subpackage corner with the Lions, recording 17 tackles.

Lions CB Brandon McDonald did not return to the game Thursday after leaving with a knee injury.
McDonald suffered the injury while diving to try to stop a long touchdown pass in the third quarter. With Louis Delmas, Chris Houston also injured, wide receiver Rashied Davis played 5-10 snaps as an emergency corner, making two tackles. Coach Jim Schwartz doesn't know yet if any of the injuries are long-term.

Brandon McDonald has lost the Lions' nickelback job.
Starter Eric Wright is expected to move to the slot in nickel packages with Aaron Berry or Alphonso Smith playing outside. While the Lions have shown major improvement at linebacker, the secondary remains the defense's Achilles' heel heading into the season.

Lions placed CB Brandon McDonald on injured reserve with a fractured arm, ending his season.
Coach Jim Schwartz confirmed that the break was clean, and if there were more than three games left in the season the Lions might've waited out McDonald's rehab. Acquired off waivers in October, McDonald finishes with 19 tackles and a pass breakup in eight games. He's an impending free agent.

Although Brandon McDonald has been impressive in camp, it remains to be seen how he fits into the Browns secondary.
When asked about his role McDonald remarked, ''I'm not really sure. We're still competing. We're still determining that, so whatever role that I'm given or the role that I earn, that'll be what it is." The Browns didn't bring in Sheldon Brown and Joe Hayden to sit on the bench, so unless McDonald can pass Mike Adams, he won't make the team.
