Celek caught three passes for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-17 win over the Saints.
The Brent Celek renaissance continues to roll on, as the veteran tight end proves himself every bit as valuable in head coach Chip Kelly's offense as younger tight end Zach Ertz. Celek now has two touchdown passes to Ertz's zero this season, and with Kelly using more two-tight end sets in the Birds' win against New Orleans, Celek could be an intriguing option in one-tight end leagues. In any case, he's a player worth watching after touchdowns in back-to-back weeks.

Celek caught one pass, a 10-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss to Washington.
The highly-anticipated takeoff of fellow tight end Zach Ertz has been heavily delayed, allowing Celek to hang around on the periphery in the Eagles' passing game. Celek only has three catches for 16 yards this year, but he has one more touchdown than Ertz on the season. He's a very deep bench option at best, but there might be something to keeping an eye on him as the season goes on and the Eagles' passing game tries to find its feet.

Celek didn't catch any passes or receive any targets in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Cowboys.
After an ineffective Week 1, Celek was a complete non-factor in the Eagles' weak offensive performance against Dallas. With head coach Chip Kelly's revamped offense struggling to find an identity and production early on, Celek's extremely limited fantasy value is essentially nil.

Celek caught one pass for six yards in Monday's 26-24 loss to the Falcons.
Previously thought to be an interesting fantasy option with fellow tight end Zach Ertz sidelined by injury, Celek's fantasy value took a hit when Ertz was inserted into the starting lineup Monday. Ertz is the superior receiving tight end, and when Chip Kelly needs a receiving tight end, Ertz will likely be the one getting the call over Celek this season. Celek can still produce, but he'll be severely hampered by Ertz.

Celek caught one pass, a seven-yard touchdown reception, in Saturday's 39-26 win over the Packers.
Despite decreasing production in the last few years, Celek showed Saturday that he's still a big body with good hands who is capable of producing, especially in the red zone. Fellow tight end Zach Ertz is expected to be the focal point of the Eagles' passing attack as far as tight ends are concerned, but with Ertz sidelined for the entire preseason, he may take a game or two to find his rhythm, leaving Celek a good option for quarterback Sam Bradford near the goal line.

Celek was listed as the team's starting tight end on the first official depth chart, the team's official website reports.
With fellow tight end Zach Ertz missing the entire preseason with a core muscle injury, Celek will almost certainly be the Eagles' starting tight end when Week 1 rolls around. There had been a slight chance for Ertz to overtake Celek on the merits of his receiving skills, but Celek will remain at the top of the depth chart for the foreseeable future.

Celek finished 2014 with 32 receptions for 340 yards and a touchdown.
It's the same number of receptions as 2013, but Celek posted a much better total of 502 yards and six touchdowns in that instance. Celek saw his prominence lessen as Jeremy Maclin, Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz established lead roles this year, and Celek's fantasy value was harmed further by the decline in Philadelphia's quarterback play. The quarterback production won't necessarily improve in 2015, and Celek should continue to see his role reduced due to the players previously mentioned, so Celek's 2014 numbers are likely the new status quo as long as he stays in Philadelphia.

Celek caught 5-of-7 targets for 48 yards in Sunday's win over the Titans.
Celek outproduced fellow TE Zach Ertz, who caught 4-of-5 passes for 30 yards. Ertz was forced to leave the game for a brief time with an oblique injury, but was able to return. The Eagles have a short week (they face the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day), so if Ertz is unable to go, Celek would presumably see a minor boost in his usual number of targets.

Celek (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Celek was Mark Sanchez's top tight end target last week, and he's been getting more snaps than Zach Ertz over the Eagles' last few games. The presence of Ertz limit's Celek's value right now, but of the two tight ends, Celek is probably the better fantasy option Sunday.

Celek (ankle) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Celek seemed to be Mark Sanchez's go-to tight end on Monday night, far outstripping Zach Ertz's numbers. Whether that was a one-game blip or a sign of things to come remains uncertain, but Celek is certainly trending up and could make for a decent bye-week fill-in Sunday if you're looking for someone.
Wed Nov 12 201413:57Brent Celek: (Ankle) Practices In Full Wednesday
Celek was listed on Wednesday's injury report with an ankle injury, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports. However, according to Geoff Mosher of CSN Philadelphia, the tight end practiced in full.
Celek more than doubled his receiving yards on the season Monday, when he reeled in five passes (on six targets) for 116 yards. The outing also marked Mark Sanchez's first start for the injured Nick Foles (collarbone), meaning owners should watch the breakdown of looks in the coming weeks to learn if Celek is approaching fellow TE Zach Ertz (one catch for 17 yards on three targets Monday) in terms of relevance in the Eagles' passing attack.
Mon Nov 10 201423:45Celek
Celek, who caught five passes for 116 yards in Monday's 45-21 win over the Panthers, suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Celek's stat line seemingly came out of nowhere, as he previously hadn't topped 45 yards in a single game this season. He was deemed questionable to return from the injury, but with the Eagles in full control, there was never any chance the tight end would re-enter the game. Celek looked fine while walking around the sidelines following his removal from the contest.

Celek has 14 catches for 90 yards and zero touchdowns through eight games.
Celek caught both of his targets against Houston on Sunday, but for just seven yards. He's averaging a remarkably bad 3.6 yards per target this year, and he's on pace for less than half of his 502 yards from last year. He's well off the radar in the vast majority of fantasy formats.
Sun Nov 2 201411:27Celek (back) active for Sunday's game against Texans
Celek (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Celek will be close to full strength against Houston's 28th-ranked pass defense. The Texans have surrendered touchdowns to opposing tight ends in two of their past three games.

Celek (back) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Celek was limited Thursday after not being listed on the injury report at all the day before, but it appears whatever is ailing him will not prevent him from taking the field in Week 9.
Thu Oct 30 201415:07Celek (back) limited in practice Thursday
Celek (back) was limited in practice Thursday.
Celek has been targeted in all seven of the Eagles' games this season, but on three occasions, he failed to reel in a pass. The past three contests have been more productive, though, with nine catches (on 12 targets) for 68 yards. In essence, the torch has been passed to second-year tight end Zach Ertz, bringing an end to Celek's relevance in the vast majority of leagues.

Celek caught three passes for 15 yards against Jacksonville in Week 1.
Celek reeled in those three passes on four targets. While his value as a blocker and quiet adeptness as an all-around tight end might keep Celek technically atop the depth chart at tight end, Zach Ertz predictably played the lead role as the pass-catching tight end Sunday, totaling 77 yards and a touchdown on three receptions. Ertz's target count of five seems low for a player of his talent level, so it's possible that his target rate will increase going forward, and that would be at least partially at the expense of Celek's target count. Celek might struggle to match last year's totals of 502 yards and six touchdowns.

Celek caught two passes for 41 yards on three targets in Thursday's preseason game against the Steelers.
While Zach Ertz has the much higher ceiling in fantasy terms, Celek has shown this preseason that he's still a viable threat in the passing game, in addition to being an excellent blocker. After going without a reception during his brief appearance in the preseason opener, Celek has hauled in four-of-six targets for 86 yards over the last two exhibition games. Both he and Ertz have been major parts of the offense.
Sat Aug 9 201402:30Celek targeted once in Friday's preseason opener against Bears
Celek was targeted once in Friday's preseason opener against the Bears.
Zach Ertz caught four passes for 60 yards, but nearly all of that damage came with the second-team offense. Celek, who strictly played with the first-team and is locked in as a starter, is unlikely to match Ertz's production in the passing game this season. Look for the Eagles to use more "two-tight end" sets, although Ertz will often be lined up in the slot or out wide, rather than tight to the formation. Celek's fantasy value and targets may be headed in the wrong direction, but he's still a strong blocker and capable receiver, a skill set that makes him highly valuable to the Eagles.
Mon Jan 6 201409:37Brent Celek to be asked to restructure?
Brent Celek may have to accept a contract restructure to stay with the Eagles.
Celek was a valuable blocker in the Chip Kelly offense this season, consistently excelling in his prescribed role and operating as a true team leader. But he's owed $4 million in 2014, a high number for a guy that caught just 32 passes and set a six-year low in targets with 50. Blocking tight ends don't get that kind of coin. Trent Cole and Jason Avant are also candidates for restructure.
