Thu Feb 21 201318:31Eagles view Dixon as a nose tackle in 3-4
Eagles GM Howie Roseman is confident Antonio Dixon can be a 3-4 nose tackle.
"I don't think any question about it," Roseman said. "That's his skill set. He has good use of his hands. He's a run stopper." Dixon was among the Eagles' final cuts last summer because he didn't fit the Wide-9 scheme, but he was later re-signed in late December. He tips the scales at 322 pounds.

Eagles re-signed DT Antonio Dixon.
Dixon spent his first three seasons in Philadelphia, but was released at final cuts this year because he didn't fit Jim Washburn's Wide-9 scheme. Now that Washburn is gone, the Eagles are bringing Dixon back into their organization for the offseason program.

Tue Oct 9 201218:56Colt sign DT Antonio Dixon
Colts signed DT Antonio Dixon.
Dixon was waived at final cuts by the Eagles. Dixon had success as a run-stuffer in 2010, but proved to be a poor fit for Jim Washburn's "wide-nine" scheme in 2011. Dixon could become a part of the defensive-line rotation for a Colts team that's struggled against the run this season, and provides insurance for NT Martin Tevaseu (ankle).

Fri Aug 31 201219:52Eagles release DT Antonio Dixon
Eagles released DT Antonio Dixon.
Dixon was a strong run-stuffer two years ago under Sean McDermott, but has been a poor fit in Jim Washburn's wide-nine scheme. McDermott is now running the Panthers defense.

Sun Aug 5 201212:08Dixon considered a poor fit for Eagles' style
Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News is concerned that DT Antonio Dixon is a poor fit for DL coach Jim Washburn's style.
The 6'3/322 Dixon is a strong run-stuffer, but Washburn's primary objective is getting to the passer. Despite Bowen's concerns, Dixon figures to make the team and play regular snaps, especially with Mike Patterson (brain surgery) out of action. Dixon will rotate with Cullen Jenkins, Derek Landri and rookie Fletcher Cox.

Mon Jul 23 201208:29Antonio Dixon to get first shot at DT gig?
The Philadelphia Inquirer expects Antonio Dixon to get the first crack at Mike Patterson's (brain surgery) starting defensive tackle job.
Patterson has been ruled out for training camp and it would not be a surprise if he misses more time than that. But even if Dixon wins the starting job, it will only be a nominal designation. First-round pick Fletcher Cox, versatile Cullen Jenkins and run-stuffer Derek Landri will all rotate heavily. The Eagles' defense won't miss Patterson too sorely.

Mon Jun 4 201216:54Eagles DT Dixon underwent back surgery
Eagles DT Antonio Dixon (torn triceps) underwent January surgery to remove a herniated disk from his back.
Dixon has been back on the field for OTAs and insists both his back and his triceps are 100 percent healed. Although he was limited to just four games last season, Dixon had emerged as a strong run-stuffer down the stretch in 2010.

Wed Mar 14 201211:25Eagles re-sign Antonio Dixon
Eagles signed restricted free agent DT Antonio Dixon to a one-year contract.
Dixon had recently been tendered at the second-round level. Limited to four games by a torn triceps last season, Dixon made just four tackles before being sent to injured reserve. He started 10 games in 2010, making 30 tackles and two sacks. He'll provide depth as a run stuffer.

Mon Mar 12 201219:43Eagles tender DT Dixon at 2nd-round level
Eagles tendered restricted free agent DT Antonio Dixon at the second-round level.
Dixon is more run stuffer than pass rusher and doesn't quite fit DL coach Jim Washburn's Wide-9 system as well as he did Sean McDermott's old defense. The Eagles still value the 6-foot-3, 322-pound road grater, however, and Dixon should have no trouble avoiding offer sheets on his $1.927M tender.

Mon Mar 12 201211:47Antonio Dixon likely to be back with Eagles
The Eagles will "almost certainly" re-sign restricted free agent DT Antonio Dixon.
Dixon was limited to just four games last season by a torn triceps, but has proven to be a solid run-stuffer since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He is the Eagles' lone restricted free agent.

Tue Oct 4 201112:05Eagles place Dixon on IR
Eagles placed DT Antonio Dixon (triceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Dixon tore his triceps during the second half of Sunday's loss to the Niners. The underrated run-stuffer will be a restricted free agent after this season. Dixon has been replaced on the roster by DT Derek Landri.

Mon Oct 3 201112:08Antonio Dixon done for the season
Eagles DT Antonio Dixon tore his triceps in Sunday's loss to the 49ers and is almost certainly done for the season.
Dixon will have surgery shortly. The third-year undrafted free agent out of Miami had four tackles in four games this season, but is an underrated run stuffer. The Eagles, who currently rank 30th in the league against the run, will certainly miss Dixon.

Sun Oct 2 201115:47DT Antonio Dixon (triceps) will not return
Eagles DT Antonio Dixon suffered a torn left triceps in the second half on Sunday and will not return.
Philly struggles against the run so any loss up front is going to hurt, but they have decent depth at DT and their problems are at LB, anyway. Look for Mike Patterson and Trevor Laws to pick up snaps if Dixon misses any time.

Sun Apr 10 201113:53Dixon grades out as elite run stopper
Eagles DT Anthony Dixon graded out eighth overall among interior defensive linemen in 2010 run defense, according to Pro Football Focus.
The agile 330-pounder dominated against weaker centers and guards after taking Brodrick Bunkley's starting job. In new defensive line guru Jim Washburn's scheme, Dixon will also get a chance to pressure passers. If he picks up his play against premier blockers, he could reach Pro Bowl status. Not bad for a player plucked off waivers in 2009.

Wed Jan 19 201113:45Eagles nab Washburn from Titans to coach DL
Eagles named Jim Washburn as their new defensive line coach.
It's an instant impact hire for Philly. Known for getting the absolute most out of linemen such as Tony Brown, Albert Haynesworth, Jason Jones, Dave Ball, and Jason Babin in Tennessee, Washburn is an ideal fit for the Eagles. His history is with a 4-3 scheme similar to Philadelphia's, and Washburn is exceptional at using rotations to maximize strengths. The Birds have plenty of talent in place to field a dominant defensive line.
Sat Nov 27 201009:53Antonio Dixon does not practice Friday
Eagles DT Antonio Dixon (abdomen, questionable) did not practice Friday.
Dixon's absence would be great news for Chicago QB Jay Cutler and RB Matt Forte, as Brodrick Bunkley is a significant downgrade in both run and pass defense. The Eagles are currently giving up the 12th most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

Sat Nov 13 201009:07Antonio Dixon emerging as a starting DT
The Eagles have given up an average of just 67.3 yards on the ground in their last three games, with two of those games coming against opponents (Falcons and Titans) that rank in the top 10 in rushing.
A big reason for the team's recent success has been the emergence of second year player Antonio Dixon. The former Miami product has started with DT Brodrick Bunkley out and has flashed the ability to defend both the run and pass. Dixon's production is finally catching up to his size and athletic ability, and we won't be surprised to see him get a majority of the snaps down the stretch.

Tue Aug 3 201013:14Dixon suffers head injury during practice
Antonio Dixon suffered a head injury that forced him to leave Monday's practice.
The backup defensive lineman might have a concussion, but nothing official is known at this time. Dixon played in all 16 games last year as the Eagles' No. 3 defensive tackle, finishing with 17 tackles and one sack.
