Fri Feb 27 201514:01Vince Young: Registered For Veteran's Combine
Young is registered for the NFL veteran's combine, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
Now 31 years old, Young is unlikely to take another snap in the NFL. He'll be 32 by the time the 2015 season begins.

Mon May 12 201413:04CLE cuts Vince Young after 11 days on roster
Browns released QB Vince Young.
The Browns also released "trick-shot artist" QB Alex Tanney. Young's stay on the Browns' roster was never expected to be long, but it's obviously an extremely poor sign for his future that he couldn't even make it to minicamp. Young simply has no upside at this stage of his career. The Browns are wise to save roster space for undrafted free agents. Going on 31, Young has played his last meaningful down of football.

Thu May 1 201414:15Browns expected to sign Vince Young
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Browns are expected to sign free agent Vince Young.
The Browns have already signed Tyler Thigpen, but have just Thigpen and "trick-shot artist" Alex Tanney behind Brian Hoyer. At least one quarterback will be added on draft weekend, making one of Young/Thigpen/Tanney expendable.

Tue Feb 11 201419:11Vince Young still hopes to resume career
Free agent Vince Young hopes to find a team for the 2014 season.
"I am pleased with the quick resolution of my bankruptcy case," Young said Tuesday. "With all these battles behind me, I am able to devote my sole focus on family, football and pursuing all opportunities in front of me." Young couldn't earn a roster spot in Packers camp last summer, and hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2011. His career is likely over.

Sat Aug 31 201310:46Packers cut the cord on backup Vince Young
Packers released QB Vince Young.
It looks like they're rolling with 2012 seventh-rounder B.J. Coleman behind Aaron Rodgers, at least for now. "He stinks, one NFL personnel director told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel of Young. "Looks like he can't retain the plays." Young played solidly in Green Bay's third preseason game, but faceplanted in the finale. V.Y. is still capable of moving an offense on a simplified platform. The Bills should give him a look.

Sat Aug 24 201311:44Vince Young expected to be Packers No. 2 QB
After a solid third preseason game against the Seahawks, Vince Young is now considered the frontrunner for the Packers' No. 2 quarterback job.
Mike McCarthy acknowledged as much. "The dimension of running, that's something we really wanted to see (from Young)," said the Packers' coach. "I think you're just seeing Vince getting more and more comfortable ... I think Vince is one of the players that definitely took advantage of his opportunities tonight." Whether it be as runners or passers, backup QBs need to be able to move the offense. Young can do that; Graham Harrell can't.

Fri Aug 23 201323:15V.Y. moves offense in 3rd preseason game
Vince Young completed 6-of-7 passes for 41 yards and a touchdown and rushed three times for 39 yards in Friday night's third preseason game.
Your Aaron Rodgers backup (and "handcuff" in deep leagues). Through three preseason appearances, V.Y. is 12-of-19 passing (63.2 percent) for 74 yards, the touchdown, and no turnovers. He's still got some juice in his legs with 58 yards rushing on six scrambles. Young has generally moved the offense and is clearly a superior backup option over Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman.

Thu Aug 15 201310:01Vince Young progressing quickly for GB
Vince Young has "really started to get comfortable" in the Packers' offense and "gotten rid" of a lot of rust.
Young has six practices under his belt. "He is clearly different today than he was this time last week," coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's progressing. We've been able to spend some extra time with him. It's been beneficial." It would be a surprise if Young isn't named the backup to Aaron Rodgers.

Wed Aug 7 201318:39Vince Young's deal has no guaranteed money
Vince Young's one-year, $715,000 contract includes no guaranteed money.
It's also a "minimum-split contract," which means he'll take home just $383,000 if he lands on injured reserve. In other words, the onus is on Young to "prove it" in camp. Considering Young's woeful competition, he should be able to earn No. 2 duties.

Mon Aug 5 201317:40Packers sign Vince Young to back up Rodgers
Packers signed QB Vince Young to a one-year contract.
Thankfully, the Graham Harrell era is over. Young, 30, brings to Green Bay 50 career starts with a 31-19 record, 46:51 TD-to-INT ratio, and 5.2 YPC average as a scrambler. No matter your thoughts on Young, he stands a far better chance of keeping the Packers' offense competitive in the event of an Aaron Rodgers injury, which unfortunately became more likely when LT Bryan Bulaga tore his ACL over the weekend. In a high-powered Packers offense, Young will offer some fantasy upside as a reserve in two-QB leagues and possible back-end QB1 if Rodgers missed time. He's a headcase, but dual-threat quarterback with functional accuracy and game-breaking running skills.

Mon Aug 5 201311:29Schefter: Packers flirted with VY before camp
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Monday that the Packers "flirted" with free agent Vince Young even before training camp.
The Packers knew their backup quarterbacks were problematic entering camp, but needed to see it on the field before making a move. The renewed interest in V.Y. suggests dissatisfaction with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman's early-camp performance. Young, now 30, would be an upgrade behind Aaron Rodgers.

Mon Aug 5 201300:48Green Bay to work out Vince Young on Monday
The Packers will work out free agent QB Vince Young Monday.
Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman are currently battling for the backup job behind Aaron Rodgers. The Press-Gazette speculates that the Packers could sign Young so that their defense can practice against a read-option quarterback. The Packers will face Colin Kaepernick in Week 1 and Robert Griffin III in Week 2. Young is just 30 years old, but was out of the league last season after getting cut by the Bills in August.

Wed May 1 201319:19Report: Raiders no longer interested in VY
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders are no longer interested in free agent Vince Young after drafting Tyler Wilson.
The Raiders and Seahawks are the only two teams Young has been linked to this offseason, and both have since moved on to other options. There's still time for Young to get an invite as a camp body, but no one is going to sign him with a 53-man roster spot in mind.

Thu Apr 11 201316:17Vince Young, Troy Smith work out for Raiders
Free agent QBs Vince Young and Troy Smith worked out for the Raiders on Wednesday.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport hears that Young "looked good." Smith said just last month that he was "ready to move on to the next chapter of my life." Oakland has reportedly been sniffing around Young for the past month. They have just two quarterbacks under contract at the moment.

Mon Apr 1 201321:53Report: Seahawks interested in Vince Young
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Seahawks have some interest in free agent Vince Young.
The Seahawks have just one quarterback on the roster after trading Matt Flynn to the Raiders on Monday, so they're likely looking for an experienced veteran to hold the clipboard. Young worked out at Texas' Pro Day last week and reportedly "put on a show." He should draw some looks.

Tue Mar 26 201317:18Vince Young works out at UT's Pro Day
Free agent Vince Young worked out at the University of Texas' Pro Day Tuesday.
"I think I did OK," Young told NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal. "Mostly it was just being here for the guys. That was my mindset and just showing the rest of the scouts that I'm still training and staying in shape." Although NFL.com's Gil Brandt said Young "put on a show," Young knows he's not assured of landing a contract. "My agent is working on it," Young said. "All I know is we got some teams with interest, so that's the good part about it. Just hoping for that blessing and opportunity."

Wed Mar 13 201313:38OAK has 'preliminary' interest in Vince Young
The Raiders have "preliminary" interest in free agent Vince Young.
The report is via NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. "Preliminary" interest in a workout barely even qualifies as interest, but it's more than Young has drawn to date at this point in his "comeback." We're not counting on Young cracking anybody's 53-man roster.
