Tue Sep 16 201406:39Fiammetta (hamstring) re-signed with Bears on Monday
Fiammetta (hamstring) re-signed with the Bears on Monday, ESPNChicago.com reports.
It seems likely the Bears planned on bringing Fiammetta back all along after releasing him Saturday. The fullback was likely unavailable for the Week 2 tilt due to the hamstring injury, and with the status of receivers Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall up in the air, the Bears needed to create more roster flexibility temporarily. Assuming Fiammetta is creeping closer to full health, he'll serve as running back Matt Forte's lead blocker.
Sat Sep 13 201418:31Fiammetta (hamstring) released by Bears
Fiammetta (hamstring) has been released by the Bears, ESPN Chicago reports.
Fiammetta was out of the game for Week 2 because of a hamstring injury, but the Bears have decided to go without a fullback with the release of the veteran. He will now try to latch on to another team, though the fullback position has been marginalized over recent years, leaving less opportunities available.
Sun Sep 7 201412:13Fiammetta (hamstring) inactive for Sunday's game against Bills
Fiammetta (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
As a pure blocking back, Fiammetta doesn't directly provide much fantasy utility, but his unavailability could perhaps change the way in which coach Marc Trestman decides to call plays. With no fullback behind Fiammetta on the depth chart, look for Trestman to steer away from I-formations and find other methods to create running lanes for Matt Forte and pass protection for Jay Cutler.
Sat Dec 28 201316:15Bears sign FB Fiammetta to two-year extension
Bears signed FB Tony Fiammetta to a two-year contract extension.
Fiammetta has resurrected his career with the Bears after sitting out the entire 2012 season. He's appeared in all 15 games and has graded out as the No. 14 fullback by Pro Football Focus. The extension will keep him signed through 2015.

Sat Jul 7 201211:24Fiammetta's roster spot not guaranteed?
ESPN Boston believes Patriots FB Tony Fiammetta could be beaten out by Spencer Larsen for a roster spot thanks to Larsen's special-teams prowess.
Fiammetta flashed special skills as a lead-blocker in Dallas last season, but will apparently have to earn his keep on special teams to crack the Patriots' 53. Provided he's healthy after missing a large chunk of 2011 with a mysterious illness, Fiammetta should be on someone's Week 1 roster, New England's or otherwise.

Mon Mar 26 201213:05Report: Pats close to signing FB Fiammetta
The Boston Globe reports the Patriots are "close" to signing free agent FB Tony Fiammetta.
Fiammetta was surprisingly non-tendered by the Cowboys after helping to revive a floundering rushing attack last season, but missed extensive time with an inner-ear issue that was likely related to a concussion. Fiammetta has a long history of concussions. He'd be an excellent lead blocker for the Patriots if he could stay on the field, however.

Tue Mar 13 201213:43Report: Cowboys looking to lock up Fiammetta
ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys are working to sign restricted free agent FB Tony Fiammetta to a multi-year extension.
The Cowboys were originally expected to tender Fiammetta at the original-round level ($1.26 million), but will instead try to lock him after he helped DeMarco Murray revive what had been a stagnant rushing attack. Teams could conceivably pry Fiammetta away from the Cowboys for a fourth-round pick if he hits the market under his tender and Dallas chose not to match an offer, but it would be unlikely.

Sat Dec 10 201121:17Fiammetta (illness) to be active for Week 14
Tony Fiammetta (illness, questionable) is expected to play in Week 14 against the Giants.
Fiammetta missed the last three games with an inner ear infection, but is no longer experiencing his reported symptoms of nausea and dizziness. His presence in the lineup stands to benefit both Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray, as the Cowboys average both more rushing yards-per-carry and complete a higher percentage of passes. Murray checks in as Rotoworld's 13th rated running back this week. Romo is a mid-to-low end QB1.

Tue Dec 6 201110:27Fiammetta had an inner-ear issue
Owner/GM Jerry Jones revealed that the mysterious illness that caused FB Tony Fiammetta to miss the last three games was an inner ear problem.
Fiammetta is expected back this week as he no longer feels nauseous or dizzy. It's good news for DeMarco Murray, who is averaging just 3.35 yards per carry over the last three weeks.

Cowboys FB Tony Fiammetta has been cleared to return from his undisclosed illness.

Tue Nov 29 201122:28Report: Fiammetta unlikely to return Sunday
The Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys don't expect FB Tony Fiammetta (illness) to return in Week 13, and are "unsure" of his status for the rest of the season.
DeMarco Murray's lead blocker was thought to be making progress toward a return after he was spotted on an exercise bike Monday, but it sounds like his mysterious illness has him in danger of landing on injured reserve. Since Murray became the lead back in Dallas, he's averaged an eye-popping 8.0 yards per carry with Fiammetta in the lineup, but just 3.4 without him.

Fiammetta may not be immediately available, but it sounds like he'll be back for the final few games.

Thu Nov 24 201121:36Fiammetta, Kitna could be done for season
Owner/GM Jerry Jones acknowledged Thursday that FB Tony Fiammetta (illness) and backup QB Jon Kitna (back) may not play again this season.
Fiammetta experiences nausea whenever he exercises. It sounds like a lingering concussion symptom, though the Cowboys medical staff has yet to nail down the origin of the ailment. DeMarco Murray has averaged just 3.4 yards per carry the past two weeks with Fiammetta out of the lineup. Jones confirmed that Kitna's back injury led to Cowboys putting in a claim for Kyle Orton on waivers.

Wed Nov 23 201114:45FB Fiammetta ruled out for Week 12
Cowboys FB Tony Fiammetta (illness) has been ruled out for Week 12.
Rookie sensation DeMarco Murray will be without his lead blocker for the second straight game. Murray averaged just 2.9 yards on 25 carries against the Redskins' stout defense in Fiammetta's absence Sunday, and will have to contend with the Dolphins' seventh ranked run defense on Thursday. He's still a must start, however.

Mon Nov 21 201120:12Fiammetta (illness) held from Monday practice
Cowboys FB Tony Fiammetta (undisclosed illness) was held out of Monday's walkthrough and could possibly miss Thursday's game against the Dolphins.
Cowboy running backs DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones combined for 90 rushing yards on 30 carries, and we'd be remiss to think that Fiammetta's absence didn't hinder their effort at least a bit. Fiammetta is feeling nauseous when working out, and the team still isn't clear on what is causing the illness.
