Tue Dec 23 201411:00Thigpen signed with Browns on Tuesday
Thigpen signed with the Browns on Tuesday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
After Rex Grossman reportedly turned down an opportunity to sign on and play Sunday, Cleveland has turned to Thigpen, whose last NFL snap came in 2012 as a member of the Bills. Thigpen signed with the Browns in May of 2014 but was cut during the preseason after a less-than-stellar training camp performance. All signs point to him getting the start Sunday against Baltimore, but he's not likely to be a valuable fantasy commodity.
Tue Aug 12 201410:20Thigpen released by Browns on Tuesday
Thigpen was released by the Browns on Tuesday, Cleveland.com reports.
Thigpen was made expendable after the Browns opted to sign veteran quarterback Rex Grossman, who has a history with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. Additionally, Thigpen's preseason debut last weekend failed to present a compelling case for him to remain on the roster, as he ended the game on 3-for-12 passing with one interception in third-string duty.
Thu May 1 201414:06Browns add Tyler Thigpen as offseason arm
Browns agreed to terms with QB Tyler Thigpen.
Thigpen, who was out of the league last season, will be an offseason arm. Depending on what the Browns do in the draft, Thigpen has an outside shot at earning No. 3 duties in Cleveland.

Mon Apr 28 201411:43Tyler Thigpen also trying out for Browns
In addition to Vince Young, free agent QB Tyler Thigpen is also trying out for the Browns this week.
The Browns are kicking the tires on some mobile quarterbacks as Kyle Shanahan installs his bootleg-heavy scheme. Thigpen was out of the league last season and served as Ryan Fitzpatrick's backup in Buffalo the two years before that. Young should be able to beat him out if there's only one roster spot to be had.

Fri Oct 4 201321:32Browns not huddling with Tyler Thigpen
Updating a previous item, the Browns are NOT meeting with free agent QB Tyler Thigpen on Friday night.
The Browns are meeting with themselves to discuss free agent quarterbacks who may include Thigpen. They are not huddling with Thigpen individually. The Browns are in pursuit of a veteran upgrade up Jason Campbell behind Brandon Weeden. Brian Hoyer is done for the season with a tear of his right ACL.

USA Today's Tom Pelissero reports the Browns will meet with free agent QB Tyler Thigpen on Friday night.
Brian Hoyer (ACL tear) is headed to injured reserve, so Thigpen could push Jason Campbell to be Brandon Weeden's backup. 29 years old, Thigpen drew light interest from the Raiders, Seahawks, and Dolphins this offseason.

Mon Aug 5 201318:20Dolphins 'have had contact' with QB Thigpen
The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have been in contact with free agent QB Tyler Thigpen.
Third-string QB Pat Devlin suffered a hand injury in Sunday night's preseason loss to the Cowboys, and Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore are the only other quarterbacks on the roster. Thigpen, 29, backed up Ryan Fitzpatrick in Buffalo last season, but played for the Dolphins from 2009-10.

Tue Apr 9 201316:01Raiders working out Tyler Thigpen
The Raiders are working out free agent QB Tyler Thigpen on Tuesday.
Thigpen's tryout comes ahead of Seneca Wallace's, who will work out on Wednesday. The Raiders are intent on adding a veteran "mentor" for Matt Flynn and Terrelle Pryor, but would be better off giving the roster spot to someone who might actually play, or remain in Oakland beyond 2013.

Mon Apr 1 201311:25Tyler Thigpen on Seahawks' 'short list'
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports free agent Tyler Thigpen is on the "short list" to back up Russell Wilson in Seattle.
The journeyman veteran has experience running the read-option, and would come on the cheap after backing up Ryan Fitzpatrick in Buffalo last season. Thigpen has attempted just 83 passes since starting 11 games for the Chiefs in 2008.

Sun Sep 2 201220:57Tyler Thigpen accepts $1 million pay cut
Tyler Thigpen accepted a $1 million pay cut to stay with the Bills as a third-string quarterback.
It makes sense for both sides. Thigpen was previously due $2.5 million -- a sum he couldn't have come close to elsewhere -- while the Bills saved some salary cap space on a player still highly regarded by Chan Gailey. Thigpen will open the season behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and newly acquired Tarvaris Jackson.

Sun Aug 19 201212:18Gailey: Thigpen falling behind Vince Young
Coach Chan Gailey acknowledged that Tyler Thigpen has fallen behind Vince Young in the race for Bills backup quarterback duties.
Young outperformed Thipgen in the second preseason game and has essentially locked up the No. 2 job, which may cost Thigpen his roster spot. "So you'd have to say Vince came out a little bit ahead tonight," Gailey said. Through two preseason contests, Young is 13-of-26 (50 percent) for 173 yards (6.7 YPA), and 37 yards on five runs. Thigpen is 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) for 94 yards (4.1 YPA) and two interceptions. So neither is setting the world on fire.

Sat Jul 28 201218:40Atrocious start of camp for Thigpen, Young
WGR 550's Joe Buscaglia reports its been an "atrocious" start of training camp for Tyler Thigpen.
Vince Young has reportedly struggled picking up the Bills offense, and Thigpen hasn't done anything to establish himself as the clear-cut backup. Thigpen missed the majority of OTAs due to injury, so its less of a concern that he's not entirely up to speed.

Fri Jul 20 201209:53Tyler Thigpen, Young set for a battle
Coach Chan Gailey called the backup quarterback battle the "stiffest competition" he saw during the offseason.
Incumbent Tyler Thigpen is set to tangle with Vince Young for the spot behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. "Tyler has the advantage of being here and being in the system. Vince has the advantage of playing in games and the experience," Gailey said. Thigpen has made just one start in the last three years.

Sun Jun 3 201215:03Thigpen missing OTAs due to abdominal tear
Bills backup QB Tyler Thigpen told the team's website that he's missing OTAs due to a torn abdominal.
Thigpen described the tear as "small" and about "a centimeter" in size. While the injury clearly isn't significant, it has allowed Vince Young to take all of the second-team quarterback reps during OTAs. The Bills have an upcoming round of practices this week, and it doesn't sound like Thigpen will participate.

Sat Aug 6 201102:01Thigpen has no chance to unseat Fitzpatrick
Coach Chan Gailey made it clear to Tyler Thigpen that he has no chance to unseat Ryan Fitzpatrick before the start of the season.
We've seen shaky reports to the contrary, so this is confirmation that Fitzpatrick's job is safe. "When I called Tyler I told him exactly the situation," said Gailey. "Ryan is the starter and there's no question about that. You can compete and work and see how close you can get and that'll be good, but Ryan is the starter." That is subject to change in-season if Fitzpatrick ends up tanking for a long stretch.

Tue Jul 26 201112:22Thigpen likes Vikes, Titans, Cards, Seahawks
In addition to the Bills, free agent QB Tyler Thigpen is also interested in playing for the Vikings, Titans, Seahawks, and Cardinals.
It's hard to blame him. From his list, it's obvious that Thigpen wants to compete for a starting job in any locale without an established quarterback. We still believe the Bills are his best fit as Ryan Fitzpatrick insurance.
