Sun Dec 30 201216:10Keith Toston tops 100 total yards in loss
Jaguars RB Keith Toston rushed 17 times for 74 yards and caught three passes for 41 yards in Jacksonville's Week 17 loss to Tennessee.
Toston was Jacksonville's primary source of offense early in the game before a big deficit forced Chad Henne into 41 pass attempts. A borderline NFL-caliber talent, Toston was the Jaguars' fifth starting running back of the season, following in the footsteps of Maurice Jones-Drew, Rashad Jennings, Jalen Parmele, and Montell Owens. An exclusive rights free agent in the offseason, Toston will enter 2013 as property of the Jaguars, competing for a roster spot.

Updating a previous item, the Jaguars are starting Keith Toston at running back in Week 17 against the Titans.
Richard Murphy will apparently be the No. 2 back. As previously passed along, Montell Owens is inactive after suffering a pre-game knee injury. Toston, a journeyman former undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State, has not carried the football since the end of the 2010 season with the Rams.

Jaguars signed RB Keith Toston.
It's a sign that the Jaguars aren't expecting Maurice Jones-Drew's holdout to end anytime soon. Toston played under Jaguars running backs coach Sylvester Croom while with the Rams last season. He managed just 54 yards on 19 carries.

Sun Aug 14 201109:46Toston facing 'uphill battle'
Despite a strong performance in the Rams' preseason opener on Saturday, RB Keith Toston is facing an "uphill battle" to make the roster.
He carried the ball 11 times for a team-high 64 yards and a touchdown. Toston was active for all 16 games as a rookie last season, but the Rams had one of the worst backup running back situations in the league. Unless Cadillac Williams or Jerious Norwood gets hurt, Toston will likely soon be looking for work.

Wed Sep 29 201015:46Keith Toston practicing fully
Rams RB Keith Toston (shoulder) is practicing fully this week.
Toston's AC joint sprain in his shoulder isn't a concern moving forward. His 2.0 yards-per-carry average is. The undrafted rookie will play only sparingly behind Ken Darby in Week 4 even if Steven Jackson (groin) is inactive.

Mon Sep 27 201015:51Keith Toston played through shoulder sprain
Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo revealed Wednesday that Keith Toston played through a sprained AC joint in his shoulder during Week 3.
It's a day-to-day type injury, but Toston is probably quite sore after picking up 11 carries in Sunday's win over the Redskins. The undrafted rookie's status for Week 3 is unclear. He had just 22 yards on the 11 attempts.

Mon Sep 27 201008:50Toston hurts shoulder Sunday
Rams backup RB Keith Toston banged up his shoulder on Sunday.
The extent of Toston's injury is unknown, but it is bad timing for the rookie. With Steven Jackson (groin) possibly sidelined, the opportunity for extra work is there. If healthy, Toston would likely share the workload with Ken Darby.

Wed Sep 8 201020:08Toston a more 'natural runner' than Darby?
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch calls rookie RB Keith Toston "the most natural runner" on the Rams' roster behind Steven Jackson.
Toston, who beat out Chris Ogbonnaya for the third-string job, is a player to keep an eye on for handcuffing purposes. The Rams' leader in preseason rushing, he'd likely share work with Kenneth Darby if S-Jax went down.

Fri Sep 3 201009:43Toston wraps up preseason nicely
Keith Toston rushed 10 times for 47 yards in Thursday's preseason finale.
Toston finishes the preseason with a 3.2 yards-per-carry average, while Ken Darby was at 3.7. Chris Ogbonnaya posted an ugly 1.9 number on 36 carries. Needless to say, the Rams' running game is in major trouble if Steven Jackson goes down. His backup may not be on the roster yet, as the Rams should be scouring the waiver wire this weekend.

Fri Aug 6 201021:07Toston passes one test
Rams RB Keith Toston passed one of his concussion tests on Friday but still has more to complete before he is medically cleared.
Toston has only been out since Thursday morning, so it's not a big concern yet. But as an undrafted free agent, the sleeper candidate to be Steven Jackson's backup needs all the practice time he can get.

Thu Aug 5 201013:48Toston takes a shot to the head
Rams RB Keith Totson took a shot to the head during Thursday morning's practice and left after feeling "fuzzy."
Totson will likely be checked to see if he suffered a concussion. The underrated undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State is trying to push Chris Ogbonnaya and Ken Darby for the backup job.

Thu Jul 8 201016:59Toston to compete for Rams backup job
Undrafted rookie RB Keith Toston is expected to compete for one of the two open spots behind Steven Jackson this summer.
Toston was disappointed that he wasn't drafted, but he signed with the right team. Kenneth Darby and Chris Ogbonnaya comprise the league's most suspect backup situation, and Toston has the all-around game to make headway in training camp. If the Rams don't add a veteran, Toston could see time as the No. 2 back this season.
