Podlesh finished 29th in the league with his 37.9 net average last season and isn't going to a friendlier place to kick footballs. He'll compete with Brad Wing and potentially a rookie for punting duties in Pittsburgh.

The Bears are "very concerned" about the left hip injury P Adam Podlesh suffered in Saturday's preseason game.
The injury is to Podlesh's plant leg, but has him iffy for Week 1. Podlesh's net punting average of 40.4 yards was sixth in the NFL in 2011. The Bears will go with undrafted free agent Ryan Quigley or a veteran free agent if Podlesh isn't ready for the regular season.

Jaguars GM Gene Smith confirmed that re-signing free agent P Adam Podlesh is a "high priority" this week.
The Jags can negotiate with Podlesh all week and lock him up long term as soon as Friday night. They should expect competition, however. Podlesh is one of the more athletic punters in football and set a franchise record with a 39.2 net average last season. There are lots of teams with uncertainty at punter.

Jaguars GM Gene Smith expects to re-sign P Adam Podlesh shortly after the lockout is lifted.
The sides would have agreed to a deal earlier in the offseason had it not been for the so-called "30 percent" rule. Podlesh's 39.2 net average last season was the highest in Jacksonville franchise history.

Fri Nov 19 201010:30Podlesh recovered from face cancer
Jaguars P Adam Podlesh recently revealed that he was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer on his face early last offseason.
Podlesh underwent surgery to remove the cancerous growth last March, and it was removed before it had a chance to spread. Podlesh now sports a three-inch scar and must undergo an MRI every four months to make sure the cancer doesn't return.
