Sat Jul 26 201418:19Aaron Ross officially placed on I.R.
Ravens placed CB Aaron Ross on injured reserve with a torn Achilles tendon, ending his season.
It's merely a procedural move after Ross tore his Achilles' on a conditioning test earlier this week. He's done for the year and will struggle to attract interest as a 32-year-old coming off a major injury next offseason. Dominique Franks will compete for Baltimore's No. 5 corner job.

Thu Jul 24 201411:44Ross tears Achilles during conditioning test
Ravens CB Aaron Ross tore his Achilles' tendon during a conditioning test.
Ross missed most of last season due to a back injury and now he's likely done for this year as well. Going on 32, he's nearing the end of the line. Ross wasn't a lock to make the Ravens' final roster anyway.

Thu Jun 19 201418:46Ravens add veteran CBs Ross, Franks
Ravens signed CB Aaron Ross.
The Ravens have also added fellow veteran CB Dominique Franks. Ross appeared in only four games for the Giants last season before landing on injured reserve with a back injury. He worked out for the cornerback-needy Lions in April, but had otherwise drawn zero interest in free agency. Going on 32, Ross is just a depth signing.

Mon Jun 16 201412:33Aaron Ross to work out with Ravens
Free agent CB Aaron Ross will participate in Ravens minicamp on a tryout basis.
Ross worked out for the Lions in April. It's probably telling that corner-needy Detroit didn't sign him. Now going on age 32, Ross was a slot corner and punt returner in his prime. He's quite a ways removed from those years.

Tue Apr 8 201417:09Aaron Ross works out for Lions on Tuesday
Free agent CB Aaron Ross worked out for the Lions on Tuesday.
It's Ross' first-known visit. Back with the Giants last season after a one-year sabbatical in Jacksonville, Ross appeared in only four games before a back injury sent him to injured reserve. He'd be a piece of veteran depth for the Lions' unsettled secondary.

Sat Oct 5 201316:21Giants place CB Aaron Ross on injured reserve
Giants placed CB Aaron Ross on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season.
It's a surprising move, but Ross was dealing with at least a multi-week back injury and the Giants couldn't afford to keep him on the active roster. CB Charles James is being promoted from the practice squad, while FS Will Hill has been reinstated from suspension. Ross, 31, will finish 2013 with four tackles and an interception over four games (two starts). He'll be a free agent again this offseason.

Sat Sep 21 201310:13Aaron Ross to get start for Giants on Sunday
Giants CB Aaron Ross will get the start opposite Prince Amukamara this week versus Carolina with Corey Webster (hip, doubtful) likely to sit out.
Ross, 31, has 50 career starts under his belt, starting nine games for Jacksonville last season a year after registering 15 starts for the Giants. However, he's coming off a Week 2 loss to the Broncos where he didn't play a single snap. Ross then said he didn't know what his role was with the team. This is shaping up as a stellar matchup for Cam Newton and Steve Smith.

Tue Mar 12 201315:37Giants bring back CB Aaron Ross
Giants signed CB Aaron Ross, formerly of the Jaguars.
The Giants are bringing back the player they made the No. 20 pick of the 2007 draft after he spent one (unsuccessful) season in Jacksonville. Ross started 15 games for the G-Men in 2011, but may begin no higher than fourth on the depth chart. Going on 31, Ross had a rough go of it in coverage last season.

Fri Mar 8 201313:04Jaguars release CB Ross after one season
Jaguars released CB Aaron Ross.
Ross was just one year into the three-year, $9.75 million pact he signed last March. He started nine games in 2012, but wasn't effective. He was benched twice, and didn't start after Week 13. By releasing Ross, the Jaguars have just Mike Harris and Kevin Rutland under contract at cornerback. They could be ready to spend in a deep corner market.

Thu Feb 28 201313:43Ross a candidate for release in Jacksonville
Jaguars.com mentions CB Aaron Ross as a candidate for release.
The Florida Times Union mentioned Ross' name as a cap casualty last month. Ross is set to count just over $4 million against the cap in the second year of a three-year deal. The Jaguars have just three corners under contract for 2013, and Ross could stick with coach Gus Bradley liking his corners tall and lanky.

Ross signed a three-year deal with the Jaguars last offseason, but he started just nine games as he battled various nicks and dings. He's set to count $4 million against the cap in 2013. The Jaguars could experience a complete overhaul in the defensive backfield. Three of their top four corners are free agents.

Fri Aug 10 201216:23Aaron Ross appears to have won LCB job
Aaron Ross is practicing as the Jaguars' starting left cornerback in base packages, and kicking to the slot in the nickel defense.
Rashean Mathis replaces Ross at left corner in the nickel. Derek Cox is entrenched as the right cornerback. Ross struggled covering the slot with the Giants, so this will be a situation to bear in mind for regular season matchup purposes. Ross and Mathis, the latter coming off a torn ACL, will be DBs to target.

Fri May 4 201216:34Jaguars to hold camp battle at left corner
The Jaguars will hold a left cornerback competition between Aaron Ross and incumbent Rashean Mathis in training camp.
Mathis is coming off a late-season ACL tear and Ross signed a relatively large offseason contract, so the latter figures to be the favorite. Coach Mike Mularkey indicated that the loser of the Mathis-Ross battle will be the Jaguars' nickel back. Ross should cover the slot on passing downs regardless.

Fri Apr 20 201211:00Jags excuse Ross from camp to watch wife
The Jaguars will allow CB Aaron Ross to miss a few days of training camp to travel to London and watch his wife, Sanya Richards-Ross, in the Olympics.
Ross' wife won the bronze medal in the 400 meters at the 2008 Olympics. After placing an emphasis on recruiting players with wives and steady home lives, the Jaguars are practicing what they preach by excusing Ross for a few days in August.

Tue Mar 20 201208:16Jags land CB Aaron Ross for 3 years, $15.3M
Jaguars signed CB Aaron Ross to a three-year, $15.3 million contract.
Forced into a starting role for the first time since 2008 last season after Terrell Thomas was lost for the year during training camp, Ross responded with a highly-average campaign, but was solid in coverage. He's capable of playing both in the slot and on the outside, and has even seen time at safety. He'll provide durable, versatile veteran insurance for a team that was ravaged by injury in its secondary late in 2011.

Tue Mar 13 201218:36Aaron Ross to visit Bengals
The Newark Star-Ledger reports free agent CB Aaron Ross will visit the Bengals on Thursday.
Ross was presumably written out of the Giants' future when the G-Men re-signed Terrell Thomas Tuesday. Ross had a middling 2011, but would provide proven veteran insurance for RCB Leon Hall as he works his way back from a ruptured Achilles' tendon.
