Wed Apr 2 201413:32Dolphins ink RT Jason Fox to one-year deal
Dolphins signed OT Jason Fox, formerly of the Lions, to a one-year contract.
Fox (6-foot-6, 314) won the Lions starting right tackle job out of camp last summer but suffered a groin injury in Week 1 before losing the gig to LaAdrian Waddle. The 26-year-old (in May) is an above-average pass blocker and is now penciled in as the Dolphins' starting right tackle. He'll certainly be part of a camp battle.

Wed Apr 2 201410:52Jason Fox gets a visit with Dolphins
Free agent OT Jason Fox will visit the Dolphins.
The Dolphins currently have no one penciled in at right tackle. Fox played his college ball at the University of Miami and is just 25 years old, but he profiles as a swing tackle at best. He would be a depth signing to play behind a rookie.

Free agent OT Jason Fox is visiting the Chiefs on Monday.
Kansas City's offensive line is starved for depth after Geoff Schwartz, Jon Asamoah, and Branden Albert all walked. The old backups become the new starters, leaving little behind. Fox, 25, is athletic enough to "swing" between both left tackle and right tackle, but played the right side in Detroit.

Sat Jul 20 201319:28Lions RT Jason Fox has 'slight edge' to start
The Lions' website gives Jason Fox the "slight edge" to win the starting right tackle job.
A fourth-round pick in 2010, Fox has appeared in just five career games and dealt with injuries in each of his first three seasons. Now that he's finally healthy, he'll compete for playing time with Corey Hilliard in training camp. Despite his limited experience, Fox is considered the favorite to start.

Sat Jun 22 201313:40Fox, Hilliard to split reps at RT in camp
Lions OTs Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard will split reps equally at right tackle in training camp.
Both players split reps during OTAs and minicamp, and that will continue over the summer as the Lions look for one of the two to step into Gosder Cherilus' old position. "We'll keep them as equal as we can and let guys work with different groups," offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said. Fox has been viewed as the favorite to win the job, but he has never started an NFL game.

Fox, a 2010 fourth-rounder, has appeared in all of five career games, and he's expected to compete with Corey Hilliard for the job. After the Lions experienced some of the best O-line continuity over the past few years, they'll be employing three new starters up front at left and right tackle and right guard.

Lions GM Martin Mayhew considers OT Jason Fox a "leading candidate" to start in 2013.
"Obviously he's had injuries in his first couple seasons," Mayhew said. "We think he has a starter-type talent level. He has the size. He's strong enough. Good technician. We think he has the ability to start for us." The Lions released Stephen Peterman earlier this offseason, so Fox or Riley Reiff will be given a starting role either at guard or tackle next season. Impending free agent Gosder Cherilus could also be allow to hit the open market.

Tue Jun 19 201209:25Schwartz hints Fox's roster spot not safe
Lions coach Jim Schwartz hints OT Jason Fox's roster spot could be in danger.
Foot and knee injuries have limited Fox to just four games in two seasons, and he was forced to sit out last week's minicamp with knee soreness. "It's not just ability, it's availability," Schwartz said. "He needs to put some time together where he's injury-free, from an evaluation standpoint, and proven that he can stay healthy over the long term." Fox will be the Lions' fifth tackle if he holds onto his roster spot.

Tue Jun 12 201213:36Lions OT Fox scratched from minicamp
Lions OT Jason Fox was scratched from this week's minicamp with a sore knee.
The Lions are calling it a precaution rather than a setback. It's a concern, though, for a player who has experienced knee problems since coming out of college, including an injury that ended his season prematurely last November. He's already been passed by rookie Riley Reiff in the coaching staff's eyes.
