Dickson caught one pass (on two targets) for 11 yards and returned a fumble 57 yards for a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers.
Dickson was hardly involved in the Panthers' passing game Sunday, but still made an awesome contribution by recovering teammate Jonathan Stewart's third-quarter fumble and dashing 57 yards for a score. That unique play certainly boosted Dickson's performance, since he's otherwise yet to amass 20 receiving yards in a game this season.
Tue Mar 10 201514:55Dickson has re-signed with Panthers
Dickson has re-signed with the Panthers, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Dickson, who caught 10 passes for 115 yards and a TD with Carolina in 2014, thus returns to reprise his role behind fellow tight end Greg Olsen, an assignment that carries limited fantasy upside, assuming Olsen's health.

Dickson caught 10 passes (on 17 targets) for 115 yards and one touchdown through 16 games played this season.
Dickson signed with Carolina last offseason after spending the first four years of his career in Baltimore. While the veteran was able to change teams, his role as a reserve tight end remained the same. In fact, the strong, established presence of fellow tight end Greg Olsen limited Dickson to career-lows in catches, targets, and yards this season. As a result, it's unclear if Dickson will be back with the Panthers, especially as his one-year contract with the team has now expired.
Mon Jul 21 201408:17Ed Dickson was 'impressive' at OTAs
Ed Dickson had an "impressive showing" during OTAs.
When the Panthers open camp on Friday, they'll have six tight ends on the roster. Dickson enters as the favorite to bookend Greg Olsen in two-tight end formations, but he'll mainly be a blocker. The ex-Raven flopped badly last season despite a golden opportunity following Dennis Pitta's injury, dropping four passes in the first three games and struggling all year in the run game.

Sat May 31 201409:09Panthers using two-tight end sets in OTAs
ESPN Panthers reporter David Newton said the team "ran a lot of two-tight end formations" during OTAs.
As they should. With zero impact receivers on the roster, Carolina's best chance at offensive success is to run the football and target TE Greg Olsen early and often. This offensive philosophy should also benefit newly-signed TE Ed Dickson, whom Newton said "looked really good." Dickson may see a few more targets than expected, but he is still well off the fantasy radar.

Thu Apr 10 201415:06Panthers expected to use more two-TE sets
The Panthers are expected to employ more two-tight end sets in 2014.
Hence, their signing of Ed Dickson. Dickson will undoubtedly get a chance to catch passes, but he's never been particularly good at it. His presence will have little, if any, effect on Greg Olsen's fantasy value.

Thu Apr 10 201414:24Panthers lasso TE Dickson with one-year deal
Panthers agreed to terms with TE Ed Dickson on a one-year, $730,000 contract.
Although Dickson is coming off another disappointing season in Baltimore, he'll be in the driver's seat for No. 2 duties in Carolina. Given an opportunity to finally break out in the absence of Dennis Pitta last season, Dickson responded by catching only 25 passes in 16 games. He'll be called on to block, but has typically been a liability as a blocker. Despite the Panthers' dearth of pass catchers, Dickson should remain off the fantasy radar in 2014.

Wed Apr 9 201413:58Free agent TE Ed Dickson visiting Panthers
Free agent TE Ed Dickson is visiting the Panthers.
It's Dickson's first-known visit of free agency, though the Baltimore Sun reported last month that he had contract offers from the Jaguars and Ravens. It's a bit unbelievable that Dickson would have turned down any offer after back-to-back poor seasons. In Carolina, he'd compete for No. 2 duties behind Greg Olsen.

Tue Mar 18 201408:48Ravens offer free agent TE Dickson contract
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens have offered free agent TE Ed Dickson a contract.
Dickson, a former third-round pick, has been in contact with the Bills, Jets, and Giants. He struggled with drops at the beginning of last season and failed to do much with his opportunity as the starter in Baltimore while Dennis Pitta was injured. Dickson is stretched as a No. 2 tight end and would compete for a spot.

Mon Mar 10 201414:28Report: Giants interested in TE Ed Dickson
The New York Daily News reports the Giants have "expressed interest" in free agent Ed Dickson.
Dickson is moving on from Baltimore, while the Giants appear to be kicking the tires on most free agent tight ends. Dickson had an opportunity to break out in Dennis Pitta's absence last season, but instead struggled mightily, catching only 25 passes. He's not a No. 1 tight end.

Wed Jan 22 201416:26Ravens not expected to re-sign Ed Dickson
The Ravens aren't expected to re-sign impending free agent Ed Dickson.
Dickson has been a major disappointment since being the 70th overall pick in the 2010 draft. He battled major issues with drops and inconsistency while trying to fill in for an injured Dennis Pitta in 2013. Dickson is best suited for a reserve role as an in-line, blocking tight end.

Sun Dec 29 201320:48Dickson held without catch in loss
Ed Dickson was held without a catch on zero targets in Week 17 versus the Bengals.
Dickson appeared in all 16 games this season, starting 14 of them, but caught just 25 passes for 273 yards and one touchdown. He battled a case of the drops early in the year. Dickson will be a free agent in March. He's best suited for a backup and situational role.

Sun Dec 22 201321:00Ed Dickson has four-catch afternoon
Ed Dickson caught four passes for 44 yards in Baltimore's Week 16 loss to the Patriots.
The catches were a season high, while the yards were Dickson's third most of 2013. It's not a day he's going to repeat in Week 17 against a Bengals defense that holds tight ends in check.

Tue Dec 17 201300:52Ed Dickson catches three passes in win
Ed Dickson caught three passes for ten yards in Week 15 at the Lions.
Dickson hauled in all three of his targets. It was a standard day at the office for the Ravens' No. 2 tight end. He's not fantasy relevant.

Sun Nov 24 201316:11Ed Dickson goes for 55 yards in Week 12
Ed Dickson recorded three catches for 55 yards in the Ravens' Week 12 win over the Jets.
This was actually one of Dickson's better games of the season. He still has no re-draft fantasy value, but it's always nice to see incremental progress from a player of his ability. Still only 26, Dickson is in a contract year.

Sun Oct 6 201318:23Dickson gets back on track in win over Miami
Ed Dickson had two catches for 51 yards in Sunday's Week 5 win over Miami.
Dickson saw an expanded role with Marlon Brown (hamstring) sidelined and made an impressive 43-yard catch-and-run in the second quarter. He had been held to just three catches for 25 yards through the first four weeks. Dickson should continue to be avoided in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Mon Sep 30 201317:14Ravens down on drop-prone TE Dickson
Ravens coach John Harbaugh stated Monday TE Ed Dickson has regressed as a player since the 2011 season.
Dickson posted a solid 54-528-5 line in '11, his second NFL season. He hasn't scored a touchdown since, and has twice as many dropped passes as catches this year. "He's not the same player right now than he was then obviously," said Harbaugh. "Ed just needs to go catch the ball. Make it easy: Run fast, get open and catch the football, put it away and get upfield." Dickson is in a contract year. He's not going to be coveted on the 2014 free agent market.

Sun Sep 15 201316:27Ed Dickson goes catch-less in Week 2
Ed Dickson was held catch-less in Baltimore's Week 2 win over Cleveland.
After dropping four passes in the opener, Dickson had another early against the Browns and was heard from little thereafter aside from getting whistled for penalties. He's officially a fantasy football non-factor.
