Sat Jun 7 201418:07Chris Hairston getting snaps at guard
Bills OT Chris Hairston has been getting reps at guard during OTAs.
Hairston is the favorite for swing tackle duties this season, but could also be the top reserve at guard if Chris Williams or Kraig Urbik misses time. Fifth-round pick Cyril Richardson has struggled in OTAs and may need a year to develop. 25-year-old Hairston spent all last season on the NFI list, but has been a full participant at voluntary workouts.

Wed May 28 201421:30Chris Hairston fully cleared for OTAs
Bills OT Chris Hairston (illness) has been fully cleared for OTAs.
Hairston spent all of 2013 on the reserve/non-football illness list with an undisclosed malady. A talented 25-year-old with 15 career starts, Hairston has lacked the durability required to become a reliable full-time starter, but should make for a quality swing tackle behind Cordy Glenn and Cyrus Kouandjio.

Tue Mar 25 201409:16Bills OT Chris Hairston still not healthy
Bills OT Chris Hairston still needs to pass a physical.
Hairston spent all of last season on the reserve/NFI list. He battled a foot/ankle injury at the end of the 2012 season and started last summer on PUP before missing most of camp. Right tackle is a weak spot on Buffalo's line. Hairston has great size at 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds but can't be counted on.

Sun May 5 201312:06Bills to start Chris Hairston at right tackle
The Bills are expected to start Chris Hairston at right tackle this season.
A 2011 fourth-round pick, Hairston has held his own as a pass blocker through 15 career starts and at 6-foot-6, 332 possesses enough girth to develop into a quality run blocker. Buffalo's line is shaping up like this: LT Cordy Glenn, LG Sam Young/Colin Brown, C Eric Wood, RG Kraig Urbik, and RT Hairston.

Sat Aug 4 201218:37Hairston listed as starting left tackle
Chris Hairston is listed as the starting left tackle on the Bills' first official depth chart.
Hairston held his own in seven late-season starts last season, and is returning as the incumbent starter. Second-round pick Cordy Glenn is working with the second team offense, and will have to earn his way up the depth chart. Harrison is being used at both left and right tackle in training camp, and may ultimately be asked to learn both positions.

Wed Apr 25 201210:24Bills GM: Left tackle is team's biggest need
Bills GM Buddy Nix ranks left tackle as the team's top need entering the draft.
"I think the left tackle is vital," said Nix. "I don't care how good your receivers are if you're on your back you can't throw it to him. You've got to protect your quarterback first I think." USC's Matt Kalil is unlikely to last until the 10th pick even if the Vikes pass on him. The Bills may end up stuck with Chris Hairston battling a second-day tackle on Ryan Fitzpatrick's blindside.

Wed Apr 18 201212:30Bills GM thinks Hairston can play left tackle
Although GM Buddy Nix believes the Bills can win with Chris Hairston at left tackle, he would like to pick up two more players at the position this offseason.
"People say Fitz gets the ball out quick, but we run our offense with a lot of empty sets, with five blockers and if they bring six he better get it out," explained Nix. "In this offense he has to get it out quick." Nix concedes that Hairston isn't the "prettiest athlete," suggesting more of a stopgap than a long-term solution.

Tue Dec 27 201111:36Chris Hairston to be starting LT in 2012
Chris Hairston is expected to be the Bills' starting left tackle in 2012.
Incumbent Demetrius Bell is an impending free agent and sustained a serious leg injury in Week 16. That leaves Hairston, the Bills' fourth-round pick in the 2011 draft. He certainly has the size to do the job at 6'6/326, but athleticism is a concern.

Chris Hairston (ankle) will return to the starting lineup at left tackle this week.
Hairston will make his third career start on Ryan Fitzpatrick's blind side, allowing Andy Levitre to move inside to center as Eric Wood's replacement. The Bills have done a great job of papering over the O-Line all season.

Mon Oct 17 201116:02Gailey: Hairston likely to miss 2-4 weeks
Bills coach Chan Gailey said Monday that he expects LT Chris Hairston (ankle) to miss 2-4 weeks.
It sounds like a high sprain. An impressive rookie out of Clemson, Hairston had been starting in place of LT Demetrius Bell (shoulder). Bell is tentatively due back during the Week 7 bye, so Buffalo's offense may not miss a beat.

Bills LT Chris Hairston (ankle) left the stadium Sunday on crutches and in a walking boot.
This has the look of a severe sprain. The Bills' overachieving offensive line is now being tested by injuries to starting left tackle Demetrius Bell (shoulder) and now Hairston.

Bills LT Chris Hairston left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a lower leg injury.
Hairston fell to the ground in a heap as he was trying to limp off the field. Starter Demetrius Bell was already out, so the Bills were forced to kick LG Andy Levitre outside with Chad Rinehart entering at guard.

Thu Jul 28 201117:40Bills sign fourth-round OT Hairston
Bills signed No. 122 overall pick OT Chris Hairston to a four-year contract.
The Bills like Hairston's size, mean streak, and quickness. They've been connected to free agent Tyson Clabo. If a veteran signing falls through, the fourth-rounder out of Clemson will compete for the starting right tackle job.
