Sat Dec 13 201415:34Carter (knee) placed on season-ending injured reserve Saturday
Carter (knee) was placed on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, Lindsay Jones of USA Today reports.
Carter has been hampered by injury throughout his NFL career. After a promising rookie season, the fourth round draft pick essentially missed the entirety of the Broncos' next two seasons while recovering from microfracture knee surgery. Carter played in 11 of Denver's first 12 games this season, at which point his knee began to become an issue yet again. The Broncos needed to make some roster moves to free up spots for Danny Trevathan and Dominique Jones on the team's 53-man roster. Carter may have played his last snap as a Bronco.

Broncos DC Jack Del Rio said SS Quinton Carter (knee) "looks pretty good."
Carter hasn't appeared in a game since Week 3 of the 2012 season due to knee issues. He had microfracture surgery before suffering a setback last summer. Carter has spent the past two seasons on I.R. The Broncos' website believes Carter could compete with Rahim Moore for the starting job next to T.J. Ward. If the Broncos get anything out of Carter, it'd be viewed as a positive.

Broncos coach John Fox told reporters at the Combine that SS Quinton Carter's recovery from knee surgery is "going fantastic."
"His rehab's going great," Fox emphasized. When Carter was placed on I.R. late last September, it was feared he'd require microfracture surgery on his right knee. An August scope hadn't fixed the joint. Carter will be back to compete for playing time in Denver, but this is a position the Broncos can upgrade.
