Chiefs waived FB Shane Bannon, TE Tim Biere, WRs Zeke Markshausen, Aaron Weaver, and Brandon Kinnie, DE Ethan Johnson, K Matt Szymanski, OLs Cam Holland and Justin Cheadle, LB Dexter Heyman, DBs Jean Fanor and Dominique Ellis, and LB Caleb Campbell.

Bannon is an athletic freak, but not enough of a true lead blocker to be playing on an NFL team at this point. Johnson was an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. Campbell, who played college ball at Army and couldn't play for a few years, was a draft pick of Matt Millen's Lions back in 2008.

Chiefs waived FB Shane Bannon, S Reshad Langford, TE Charlie Gantt, LB Pierre Walters, LB Michah Johnson, OT Chris Harr, and OL Mike Ingersoll.

A seventh-rounder out of Yale, Bannon's path to a roster spot was blocked by the addition of Le'Ron McClain. Langford played six games as a special teamer and reserve safety last season.

Chiefs signed No. 223 overall pick FB Shane Bannon to a four-year contract.

Bannon will receive a $51,000 signing bonus. Purely a lead blocker, the seventh-rounder out of Yale didn't see a single carry as a senior. He'll have to outplay Mike Cox and Tervaris Johnson to lead the way for Jamaal Charles this season.
