Wed Nov 6 201309:19Jags are talking up WR Stephen Burton
Coach Gus Bradley singled out Stephen Burton as someone he wants to step up with Justin Blackmon suspended for the year.
The Jags claimed Burton off waivers from the Vikings just before Week 1. He's missed the last five games due to a concussion, watching Mike Brown shine as the No. 3 wideout. Now that Brown is the No. 2 man, there's a job opening. "We've always been intrigued by [Burton]," Bradley said. "He's 6-1, 220 pounds and [runs a] 4.4. We've been really developing him to see what he can do." It's a name to stash on watch lists.

Sun Sep 22 201320:13Stephen Burton catches five balls in loss
Stephen Burton caught five passes for 42 yards in Sunday's Week 3 loss to the Seahawks.
A castoff of the Vikings, Burton was claimed off waivers by the Jags just prior to Week 1. Now he's operating as the clear No. 2 receiver and racked up nine targets Sunday. Of course, the Jags passing game isn't capable of supporting more than one wideout, so only extreme deep leaguers should take a gander.

Sat Aug 25 201213:15Stephen Burton draws poor reviews
According to Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, WR Stephen Burton hasn't done "anything to separate himself from some of the other receivers."
Burton saw limited snaps in Friday's regular season tune-up. "When I look at the tape, we'll see how he did blocking and he did running around, but as a whole, we never gathered any rhythm offensively, so that also means he wasn't a big factor in what we were trying to do offensively." Burton clearly no longer has an outside shot at starting during Jerome Simpson's suspension, and is on the roster bubble.

Thu Aug 16 201218:39Burton the frontrunner for No. 5 WR spot?
Stephen Burton "appears to be the front-runner" for the Vikings' fifth receiver spot.
Fourth-rounder Jarius Wright is likely locked in, and Michael Jenkins' salary cut gives him a better chance to stick. Burton's primary competition could be former CFL star Emmanuel Arcenaux, who has improved more than any player WRs coach George Stewart has coached in 25 years. Kerry Taylor and Bryan Walters are also in the mix. Burton could end up starting for the suspended Jerome Simpson in Week 1 if he makes the team.

Sat Aug 11 201211:28Vikings increasing Stephen Burton's role?
According to coach Leslie Frazier, WR Stephen Burton started in place of Percy Harvin in Friday's preseason opener because the Vikings "need to learn more about Stephen in game situations."
Burton was targeted just two times against the 49ers, but managed to take his lone catch 52 yards. He also had a drop, however. "He had limited exposure a year ago," Frazier said. "(And) then with the injury to Greg (Childs), we really felt like we needed to find out more about him." Beat writer Tom Pelissero believes Burton could see time at split end while Jerome Simpson is suspended for the season's first three games.
