Toliver (foot) was placed on waivers by the Bears on Thursday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Toliver was diagnosed with a fractured foot after a visit with doctors earlier in the week, an injury that is expected to require eight weeks of recovery. That timetable effectively takes him out of the running for a Week 1 roster spot, prompting the Bears to drop him from their 90-man training camp roster and add depth elsewhere.

Bears waived WR Terrence Toliver (foot) with an injury settlement.
Toliver was a sleeper to stick with the Bears thanks to a 6'5/204 frame that we know the Bears love, but it sounds like a small fracture was discovered in his foot. OL Graham Pocic was signed in a corresponding move.

Toliver has been sidelined the past week with a foot injury and will receive a second opinion, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Bears fear that Toliver might be dealing with a small fracture in the foot, as the team already added another receiver (Dale Moss) to the 90-man roster to cover for his absence. If the second opinion from doctors does reveal that Toliver is dealing with structural damage in the foot, the Bears would likely go ahead and transfer him to injured reserve or waive him outright.
Tue Jul 29 201421:54Toliver headed for second opinion on foot
Bears WR Terrance Toliver is seeking a second opinion on his injured foot.
Toliver has been sidelined a week with what the Bears fear could be a small fracture in his foot, which would likely end his season. A prototypical Bears' receiver at 6-5/204, Toliver is a dark horse to make the 53-man roster if his health cooperates.

Wed Jun 25 201409:32Bears WR Toliver a 'dark horse' to make team
ESPN Chicago calls WR Terrence Toliver a "dark horse" to make the 53-man roster.
Toliver just turned 26 last month and has never appeared in a regular-season game. In 2007, he was rated the No. 1 high school receiver by both Scout.com and ESPN. Tolliver's college career at LSU ended with a bang, but he still went undrafted. At 6'5/204, Toliver has the height and size the Bears seem to like.

Bears signed WR Terrence Toliver and QB Matt Blanchard to reserve/future contracts.
Toliver was once a high-profile recruit coming out of high school and then going on to LSU, but he underachieved in college and has yet to play in a regular season game in the NFL. Toliver, 24, spent last summer in Lions camp. Blanchard was a camp body with the Bears last year.

Lions waived WR Terrence Toliver, FB James Bryant, K Derek Dimke, RB Stephfon Green, OG Jacques McClendon, LB Slade Norris, OG J.C. Oram, and DT Bobby Skinner.
Toliver was a big name after once upon a time being rated the top wide receiver recruit in the country coming out of high school. He's proven to be a career underachiever, underwhelming at LSU and failing to catch on in the NFL.

Tue Jan 10 201209:31Lions sign Toliver to reserve/future deal
Lions signed WR Terrence Toliver to a reserve/future contract.
An undrafted free agent out of LSU, Toliver spent most of the season on the Lions' practice squad after going through camp with the Texans. A top recruit coming out of high school, Toliver will be facing an uphill battle to earn a roster spot in 2012.
