Tue May 21 201312:57Seahawks waive QB Josh Portis
Seahawks waived QB Josh Portis.
Portis was arrested earlier in the month on suspicion of drunk driving. With all of the off-field problems surrounding the Seahawks, Portis didn't stand a chance to make it much longer. Jerrod Johnson is locked in as the Seahawks' No. 3 quarterback, but it's uncertain if they'll keep three signal callers.

Mon May 20 201313:06Backup Seahawks QB Portis popped for DUI
Reserve Seahawks QB Josh Portis was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of drunk driving.
He'll be arraigned on May 28. A 2011 undrafted free agent, Portis spent his entire rookie year on the active roster before being relegated to the practice squad for most of 2012. The arrest certainly hurts his chances of earning No. 3 duties behind Russell Wilson and Brady Quinn. Portis is competing with Jerrod Johnson.

Seahawks re-signed QB Josh Portis to a two-year contract.
The soon-to-be 26-year-old will get another look this summer after being cut from the practice squad in November. Portis has never appeared in an NFL game, but he brings some athleticism to the table. He totaled 3,870 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2010 while at California (PA).

Thu Feb 23 201218:18Seahawks 'really excited' about QB Portis
GM John Schneider insists the Seahawks are "really excited" about the potential of second-year QB Josh Portis.
"He had a phenomenal preseason," said Schneider, "and made a lot of progress throughout the year as well." Schneider once again emphasized that the team will not make any panic moves at quarterback, such as "giving up draft choices to go get somebody" or "guaranteeing somebody a ton of money that you're not quite sure is the guy that's going to get you over the hump." That would seem to rule out RGIII and Matt Flynn.

Mon Oct 24 201120:05Seahawks not ready to turn to Josh Portis
Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that the Seahawks will not turn to Josh Portis if Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) has to miss more time.
Charlie Whitehurst was terrible against the Browns, but the undrafted rookie Portis isn't ready yet. "He's got a long ways to go," Carroll said. "... He's not close to being ready to push for the job." Portis impressed in preseason action against third-stringers, but hasn't gotten any practice reps all season. Whitehurst will start against the Bengals if Jackson can't play.

Coach Pete Carroll said he will not bring in another quarterback even if Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) can't play after the bye.
If Jackson sits in Week 7, undrafted rookie Josh Portis will serve as Charlie Whitehurst's backup. "Josh Portis is here to play," Carroll said. "Josh is a very talented kid, and if he's in the No. 2 spot, I'm going to get him ready to play. I'm not going to have any hesitation putting him in the game."

Fri Aug 12 201115:50Seahawks high on rookie QB Josh Portis
According to the Everett Herald, the Seahawks are "excited" about undrafted rookie QB Josh Portis.
And this was even before his coming-out party Thursday night. Coming off the bench behind Tarvaris Jackson and Check-down Charlie Whitehurst, Portis completed 5-of-9 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown, scrambling for seven more yards. He led two touchdown drives. Portis has a quick delivery and looked accurate against third-stringers. Keep an eye out in Dynasty leagues.
