Ross was promoted from the Ravens' practice squad Saturday, the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec reports.

He is expected to be the Ravens' primary kick returner and will also serve as the fifth wide receiver with Steve Smith and Breshad Perriman ailing.

Ross was released by the Lions on Saturday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Corey Fuller seemingly won the No. 3 wide receiver job, with Lance Moore and TJ Jones rounding out the depth chart. In reality, things should be pretty fluid behind the excellent starting duo of Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Ross served as the No. 3 wide receiver for most of 2014, finishing with 24 catches for 314 yards and a touchdown on 36 targets in 16 games.

Ross hauled in two passes for 40 yards in the Lions preseason victory over Jacksonville.

Though his totals were modest, Ross was second only to Golden Tate in receptions and yards. Coming off a four-catch game last week, Ross is looking like a solid bet to make the roster and, with no obvious choices ahead of him, may be lining himself up for the Lions' No. 3 receiver gig.

Ross caught four passes (on four targets) for 31 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game versus the Redskins.

Ross connected with starting quarterback Matthew Stafford on a 21-yard pass during the Lions' first drive, before later hauling in a three-yard touchdown from backup Dan Orlovsky. In doing so, Ross capped a strong performance that could help his quest to secure No. 3 wideout duties this season.

Ross, an exclusive rights free agent, will be back with the Lions in 2015, ESPN's Michael Rothstein reports.

There was little question the Lions would choose to retain Ross, as the cost of keeping an exclusive-rights free agent is far from prohibitive. That doesn't ensure Ross of a spot on the final roster, but he's a pretty good bet to win a job as the No. 3 or 4 wide receiver.

Ross caught 24-of-36 targets for 314 yards and a touchdown in 16 games during the 2014 seasons.

Working as Detroit's No. 3 wide receiver for most of the year, Ross posted numbers that were similar to Corey Fuller's, even though Fuller was fourth on the depth chart. Both players figure to be back with Detroit in 2015, as Fuller is still under contract, while Ross is an exclusive-rights free agent.

Ross caught one pass for 31 yards in Thursday's 34-17 win over the Bears.

Ross' fantasy upside is limited as long as both Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate are healthy, which they currently are.

Ross had three catches for 35 yards in Sunday's 34-9 loss to the Patriots.

This kind of stat line is about as good as it ever gets for Ross, who has topped 35 yards just once all season (Week 4 against the Jets). His 2.3 targets per game going into Week 12 rank eighth on the team.

Ross caught three passes for 32 yards Sunday against the Saints.

Golden Tate had nearly three times as many targets as any other Lions receiver in Calvin Johnson's absence while Ross collected four targets. Matthew Stafford spent much of his day focusing on Tate along with the running backs.

Ross (ankle) is listed as active Sunday against the Saints, the Lions' official site reports.

Ross has yet to take advantage of an injury-plagued receiving corps, which is without Calvin Johnson (ankle), Eric Ebron (hamstring), and Joseph Fauria (ankle) in Week 7. Sure, Corey Fuller is getting the nod for Johnson, but Fuller mustered just two receptions (on five targets) for 12 yards last week, leaving the No. 2 wideout reps up in the air behind Golden Tate.

Ross (ankle) is probable for Sunday's game against New Orleans.

Ross sat out Wednesday's practice but practiced fully Thursday and Friday, indicating his ankle issue is a very manageable one. He figures to see a few targets with Calvin Johnson (ankle) highly questionable, but predicting Ross' productive days is not a safe task to take up.

Ross was a full participant Thursday after missing Wednesday's workout entirely. That bodes well for his chances of playing Sunday against the Saint's soft pass defense, but Ross has been mostly quiet this season, even when Calvin Johnson has been hobbled by injury.

Ross (ankle) was a non-participant in practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Since Calvin Johnson emerged from Week 3 with an ankle injury, which forced a DNP on Sunday at Minnesota, Ross' contributions to the Lions' passing attack have been sparse. In three games in the interim, Ross has notched four receptions (on seven targets) for 86 yards. Now that he's dealing with his own ailment, his activity level in practice will be watched closely as the week draws to a close.

Ross caught both of his targets for 65 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Jets.

Ross saw an increase in snaps with Calvin Johnson limited due to an ankle injury, though a significant portion of his fantasy value came on his 59-yard touchdown. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has plenty of weapons at his disposal after Johnson, so despite the touchdown Sunday, Ross doesn't figure to have a significant increase in fantasy value.

The Oakland Press' Paula Pasche believes WR/KR Jeremy Ross is in the mix to be the Lions' No. 3 wide receiver.

Ross flashed on special teams last season, scoring two special teams touchdowns and finishing near the top of the league in both kickoff and punt return average. Ross failed to make an impact on offense, though, posting a meager 6-67-1 stat line. With only injury-prone Ryan Broyles and replacement-level Kris Durahm ahead of him on the depth chart, Ross has an opportunity to seize a bigger role in Detriot's offense this time around. He will be a player to monitor during training camp.

Lions extended exclusive rights free agent tenders to WR/KR Jeremy Ross, LB Julian Stanford, CB Chris Greenwood, and TE Matt Veldman.

Ross is the most notable name here. He averaged 29.3 yards per kickoff return with a touchdown and 16.2 yards on punts with another score after signing off the practice squad last season. Ross won't be in the mix for significant 2014 offensive snaps, but should have Detroit's return duties locked up.

Ross stole some snaps from Nate Burleson in the slot, but his second-quarter touchdown was his only grab of the afternoon. Primarily a special teamer, Ross remains miles from fantasy relevance.

Ross was signed to the practice squad after being waived by the Packers on September 23. He should play Sunday and can also help on special teams. The Lions cut tight end Dorin Dickerson in a corresponding move.
