The reigning NFC Defensive Player of the Month, Norman has also forced and recovered a fumble, while being trusted to defend opposing No. 1 wideouts along the way. Norman (personal) is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
Coming off a dominant September in which he won NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors, Norman is looking to further cement his reputation as one of the up-and-coming stars at his position. He only missed one practice due to a personal issue, so he's in no real danger of missing Sunday's game. The larger issue for IDP owners is that opposing quarterbacks may be reluctant to throw in his direction.

Norman was named the NFC defensive player of the month for his exploits in September, which included 15 tackles (12 solo), two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The personal matter likely won't affect his ability to take the field Sunday in Tampa Bay, but IDP owners should still make sure he's available.

Norman recorded five tackles (four solo) and intercepted a pass during Carolina's Week 3 win over New Orleans.
Norman has posted five tackles in all three of the Panthers' games so far, but has really made strides in coverage, as he already boasts five passes defended, including two interceptions. While Norman returned his Week 1 interception for a touchdown, Sunday's interception was similarly impressive, with Norman acrobatically snagging a pass at its peak in front of the intended receiver.

Norman took a Blake Bortles' pass to the house in Sunday's game against the Jaguars which ended up being a very crucial part of the 20-9 win. Norman is in his fourth season in the NFL and he should continue to grow as a starting cornerback for a very solid defense.

Norman's inactive status Sunday comes as a result of a coaches decision, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Norman was limited during practice this week while overcoming a concussion, but he was apparently cleared to play prior to kickoff. However, given his lack of practice reps over recent weeks, Norman was deemed inactive, allowing Melvin White to continue to start at cornerback opposite Antoine Cason.

Norman (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Norman was listed as probable, but he also had yet to fully pass through the league's concussion protocol, so it is possible that he did not get clearance from the independent doctor. Look for Melvin White and James Dockery to see added snaps in Norman's absence.

Norman (concussion) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Green Bay, though he still hasn't been fully cleared to return to game action, the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person reports.
Norman still needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist before he is given the green light to suit up against the Packers. However, Melvin White and James Dockery received more practice reps Friday than Norman, so his workload could be reduced if he does play.

Norman (concussion) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
Norman missed last weekend's game while still recovering from a concussion, but it appears he's at least been cleared to practice in some capacity this week. However, until Norman, who is also nursing a shoulder injury, receives full clearance to practice and play, his status for Sunday's game against the Packers remains uncertain.

Tue Sep 30 201410:15Norman will start at cornerback in Sunday's game against Bears
Norman will start at cornerback in Sunday's game against the Bears.
Norman will replace teammate Melvin White as the Panthers' starter opposite Antoine Cason at cornerback for Sunday's Week 5 contest. His promotion comes in wake of White conceding a pair of touchdowns against the Ravens; however, Norman is no stranger to starting. In fact, as a rookie in 2012, Norman started the first 12 games of his career. He finished that season with 73 tackles (52) and two interceptions in 16 games played. While inconsistent play has limited Norman's involvement since then, the third-year cornerback will get a chance to prove himself within Carolina's first-team defense once again on Sunday.
Sat Feb 8 201411:14Panthers CBs Norman, Thomas on the outs?
ESPN Panthers blogger David Newton thinks the team could release both CBs Josh Norman and Josh Thomas.
Both Norman and Thomas found themselves on the weekly inactive list many times this past season. Norman played just 103 defensive snaps across three games, while Thomas saw 274 snaps and made six starts. Norman had a fine preseason but has been roasted in coverage when the games count. The Panthers would like to re-sign free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn. They were also impressed with undrafted rookie CB Melvin White in 2013.

Sun Apr 21 201312:07Panthers GM: CB Norman a 'different kid' now
Panthers GM Dave Gettleman said CB Josh Norman came back from his 2012 rookie year benching as a "different kid."
Norman, the No. 143 pick out of Coastal Carolina last year, started the first 12 games of the season, but he rode the bench for the final four weeks. Entering the league, Norman had a reputation for "guessing routes," and that's what got him in trouble as a rookie. As it stands right now, he's Carolina's No. 1 corner. The feeling inside the organization is Norman can develop into a top-tier cover man.

Sun Dec 9 201218:03Josh Norman benched in Week 14
Panthers rookie RCB Josh Norman was benched for performance in Sunday's Week 14 win over the Falcons.
Coach Ron Rivera explained afterwards that he "wanted to look at other players," although it's no secret that Norman has struggled all year in pass coverage. And despite being picked on routinely, Norman has failed to capitalize with big plays. He has one interception and no forced fumbles on the season.

Fri Jun 15 201213:39Panthers believe rookie Norman could start
ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas suggests fifth-round CB Josh Norman showed well enough at OTAs that the Panthers believe he could start as a rookie.
Per Yasinskas, the coaching staff and Steve Smith have been "raving" about Norman to the point where they believe he could end up starting opposite Chris Gamble, moving Captain Munnerlyn to a nickel back role. It sounds like Norman may have already passed Brandon Hogan and Darius Butler on the early depth chart.
