Mon Sep 2 2013 | 09:47 | B.J. Coleman released by Packers |
Packers waived QB B.J. Coleman. |
Coleman went 14-of-34 (41.2 percent) for 128 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the preseason. He was still expected to serve as Aaron Rodgers' backup following the release of Vince Young. Now the Packers only have newly acquired practice-squad quarterback Scott Tolzien behind Rodgers. GM Ted Thompson has sometime up his sleeve. |

Tue Jun 11 2013 | 17:00 | B.J. Coleman could 'jump' Graham Harrell |
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel suggests B.J. Coleman could "jump" Graham Harrell to be the Packers' backup quarterback in preseason games. |
Coleman is the more talented of the backup competitors, while heady Harrell is a favorite of the coaches. "He's very talented," coach Mike McCarthy said of Coleman. "I really like the development and improvement in his fundamentals ... He needs to play." Coleman will play plenty in August exhibition games. |

Sun May 12 2013 | 15:51 | Coleman could unseat Harrell as backup QB |
The Packers will give 2012 seventh-round pick B.J. Coleman a chance to unseat Graham Harrell as Aaron Rodgers' primary backup. |
Coleman isn't as athletic as Harrell, but he's got a bigger arm and stands firmer in the pocket. His presence may be the reason the Packers never upgraded the position behind Rodgers this offseason. Coleman's biggest limitation is his shortage of athleticism. Coaches want him to improve throwing on the run. |

Wed Apr 17 2013 | 21:54 | Pack wants to see if Coleman can beat Harrell |
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says the Packers "want to see if" QB B.J. Coleman can beat out Graham Harrell for the backup job. |
Coleman was a seventh-round pick out of Chattanooga last year, but he was among the Packers' final cuts. Harrell spent the season as Aaron Rodgers lone backup. He saw very limited action in four games, completing 2-of-4 passes for 20 yards while losing a fumble. Coleman completed 7-of-18 passes last preseason. Green Bay would be in a world of hurt if either was forced to play. |

Fri Aug 31 2012 | 21:32 | Pack cut Coleman, Moss |
Packers waived or released QB B.J. Coleman, WRs Dale Moss, WR Diondre Borel and Curenski Gilleylen, FB Nic Cooper, DE Lawrence Guy, CB Otis Merrill and G Greg Van Roten. |
After much handwringing over which player would claim the Packers' final receiver spot, Borel, Moss and Tori Gurley were each handed their walking papers on Friday. All three will be candidates for the practice squad if they go unclaimed on waivers. The No. 243 pick in the draft, Coleman attempted just seven passes during the preseason, and is surely practice squad bound. |

Wed Jul 11 2012 | 10:10 | Packers could bring in veteran QB this summer |
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel expects the Packers to bring in a veteran quarterback if backup Graham Harrell "flops" this summer. |
The annual Super Bowl contenders are taking a leap of faith with Harrell in the No. 2 role. Although seventh-rounder B.J. Coleman showed improvement during OTAs, he's still slated for the developmental No. 3 job as a rookie. By late August, Green Bay could be the favored landing spot for trade candidate Colt McCoy. |
