Rian Lindell has won the Bucs placekicking job.
Lindell beat out UDFA Derek Dimke to take a job that opened up when Lawrence Tynes picked up a staph infection. Over the last three years, Lindell is just 50-of-60 (83.3 percent) on field goals -- but just 3-of-7 from 50+ yards.

Mon Aug 19 201308:24Bills moving on from longtime K Rian Lindell
Bills released K Rian Lindell.
Lindell is just 18 months removed from signing a four-year, $11 million extension, but his fate was likely sealed when the Bills used a sixth-round pick on Dustin Hopkins. Lindell was as accurate as ever last season, converting 21-of-24 field-goal attempts, but the Bills grew impatient with his weak leg. Lindell has made just five field goals of 50 yards or longer over the past five seasons. Nevertheless, with an 81.3 career success rate, Lindell should latch on somewhere else before the year is through.

Sun Apr 28 201312:42Hopkins' addition not good for Rian Lindell
The Buffalo News reports the selection of K Dustin Hopkins in the sixth round of the draft "doesn't bode well" for K Rian Lindell.
Lindell, 36, has been the Bills' kicker for the last ten seasons, and he inked a new four-year, $11 million deal last offseason. He doesn't have a particularly strong leg, and it's proven tough for him to kick through the strong Buffalo winds. The Bills would save just $300,000 by releasing him.

Fri Feb 3 201219:59Bills re-sign K Rian Lindell
Bills re-signed K Rian Lindell.
Terms weren't disclosed, but Lindell turned 35 last month and missed eight games in 2011 due to injury. We can't imagine the Bills committed much. Once among the league's most accurate kickers -- despite a tough environment -- Lindell has made just 75 of his 102 field goal attempts over the past four seasons (73.5 percent). He may have to fend off Brandon Coutu in training camp.

Thu Dec 8 201114:49Bills end kicker Lindell's season
Bills placed K Rian Lindell (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Lindell suffered a shoulder injury while making a tackle on a kickoff return a month ago. The Bills conceded last week that he's ready to kick again, but there's concern that the shoulder wouldn't hold up if he was forced to make a tackle again. Lindell is a free agent in 2012. Dave Rayner will handle kicking chores the rest of the way.

Mon Nov 7 201119:41Lindell out 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury
Bills kicker Ryan Lindell will miss 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.
Lindell was performing just outside of the top-12 fantasy kickers in most leagues, so his replacement probably won't garner much fantasy interest outside of deeper formats. We'll see whose tires they kick over the next few days.
