Fri Aug 31 201210:05B.J. Cunningham out in Miami
Dolphins waived WR B.J. Cunningham, LB Cameron Collins and OLB Jamaal Westerman.
A sixth-round rookie out of Michigan State, Cunningham struggled with drops while falling to the back of Miami's woeful receiving corps. It's a bad label to get slapped with when speed and ability to separate are known issues. The practice squad is a possibility for Cunningham.

Wed Aug 1 201211:53B.J. Cunningham unlikely to make Dolphins?
The Miami Herald describes sixth-round pick B.J. Cunningham's chances of making the Dolphins' final roster as "not good."
It's not a great sign for Cunningham in perhaps the league's most talent poor wide receiver corps. A star at Michigan State, Cunningham had a case of the dropsies throughout spring practice and apparently isn't making up for it so far in training camp. Rishard Matthews isn't making much noise, either.

Mon Jul 23 201201:14Rookie WR Cunningham suffered from drops
Sixth-round WR B.J. Cunningham suffered from "too many drops" in offseason practices, according to the Miami Herald.
A previous report suggested Cunningham's drops occurred in rookie minicamp before he improved measurably in OTAs. After Brian Hartline and Davone Bess, the Herald believes Chad Ochocinco and Legedu Naanee are the favorites for the third and fourth roster spots, though the latter can't afford a letdown in camp. Roberto Wallace is the "most impressive" of the unproven entities vying for the fifth spot. Seventh-rounder Rishard Matthews will get a look on returns. Clyde Gates is "still thinking too much."

Thu Jul 5 201219:47Report: WR Cunningham strong in OTAs
After a rough start in rookie minicamp, sixth-round WR B.J. Cunningham reportedly "performed at a high level the rest of the way" in offseason practices.
Despite setting Michigan State's receiving record, Cunningham dropped in the draft due to a 4.59 forty and questions about his ability to separate from NFL corners. If he follows his strong spring showing with a stellar training camp, Cunningham could climb a shallow depth chart to contribute in multi-wide sets.
